Cindie wrote: "Does
take place enough in Kabul to use Afghanistan (with black in the flag) for this task?"Not having read it (yet), I can't really say for sure. If, when you read it, at least half of the book is set in Kabul, it will work.

It's really high on my list, too. And, it will certainly work for 15.9 ("mountains" in title).

Just so i get this straight we pick a country that has a flag with black in it? I picked The Reader which takes place in germany, would this work?
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Can I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson please?"Sorry, Fiona, but The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is set in Sweden. Sweden's flag is blue and yellow. It has no black in it so the book will not work for this task.
Delmy =^.^= wrote: "Just so i get this straight we pick a country that has a flag with black in it? I picked The Reader which takes place in germany, would this work?"That's correct, Delmy. The Reader will work.
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "V2 - Dave Davies I think it's based in Germany"From the description it sounds like it's set in Nazi occupied Holland, which is part of the Netherlands. The flag for the Netherlands is red, white, and blue - no black. So unless the description turns out to be incorrect, this book won't work.
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Tendrils of Life - Owen Choi would this be ok for Korea?"Fiona (Titch) wrote: "Not sure if Deadline is based in Germany?"
I can't find any evidence that Deadline is set in Germany. But, if when you read it, at least half the action takes place in Germany, explain how the book fits when you post.
Tendrils of Life appears to be at least partially set in Seoul. If at least half of the action takes place in South Korea, this book will work.
Joanna wrote: "What about Palestine?https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palesti..."
Sorry, Joanna, the task descriptions state:
For the purposes of this task, we will use these official flags.
Palestine does not appear on that page and is, therefore, not eligible for this task.
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "A Way Through The Sea - Robert Elmer ok for Germany?"Sorry, Fiona, the first review says: "This one, set in Denmark in 1943..."
Fiona (Titch) wrote: "the uprising at babi yar - othniel j. seiden ok?"Set in Kiev, which is in the Ukraine or the Soviet Union depending on the timeline. Neither of which work for this task.
I was hoping to read Nzingha: Warrior Queen of Matamba, Angola, Africa, 1595, which takes place (assuming from the title) in what is now Angola. My question is, even though Angola didn't become an independent country until the 1970's, will it still work?

Pam wrote: "What about Belize? There is some black on the flag. I want to use Echoes at Dawn. Rio takes Grace to Belize to hide her and let her heal...."Belize works. So as long as they're in Belize for at least half the book, this book will work.

In the US, Flag Day is celebrated in June. Since our theme is the black tortoise, ➜ read a book set in a country that has the color black on its official flag. For the purposes of this task, we will use these official flags. To qualify, at least 50% of the book must take place in an appropriate location. Required:If the location is not obvious in the Goodreads description of the book, explain the connection when you post.
