The Prince of Prose: A Pat Conroy Appreciation Group discussion

So far I've only read 3 of his books (LoD, PoT, and TGS) and Lords of Discipline is my favorite so far. I had to read it for my 10th English class and fell in love with Conroy's writing.

Which is your favorite book and why?

I loved 'Beach Music' and 'The Great Santini'.

Have devoured everything Pat Conroy...but if I HAD to pick a favorite, it would be Beach Music.

Pat Conroy is my definately favorit author. It just isn´t fair to ask me to choose between the books. But if I really HAVE TO I will pick The Lords of Dicipline. If you ask why that book, I don´t know, I just felt the story as genuine and vulnerable.

My favorite is The Water is Wide. Most likely because I went through a very similar teaching experience as portrayed in Pat's book. It was in a Northeastern City and not on an Island off the coast of SC.

I love them all…but I guess The Great Santini!!
