Thank you Lynn for opening up Camp Amly! I have a horrible singing voice but what I lack in talent I make up for in enthusiasm!Mosquitoes Are Ruining My Summer!: And Other Silly Dilly Camp Songs

Hello mother
Hello father
Here we are at
Camp Amly....
101 Camping & Outdoor Recipes CookbookIf we are going to drink ( and what would be the point if we don't ) maybe we should have some refreshments too.
So now we have: a name, a flag, songs, food and booze- looks like we are all set. Anyone know any good Ghost stories?
AmyK wrote: "your camp counselor was delayed due to a wrist injury!! here i am!!! welcome campers!"Ouch! I hope your wrist is better.
severe sprain, possibly a fracture in one of the bones in my wrist. im in a splint and have to follow up with an orthepedist. im just greatfull its my right hand......im left handed. typing with one hand is slow :)
A Happy Camper sneaking around; awww are you guys beating up your camp counsellor already! Poor Amy :-(Hope it's the less of the two possibilites and that you heal quickly, Amy
Oh Amy - just what you don't need! I'm so sorry. In your absence I asked Lynn to step in and be co-counselor. She's done a great job and it looks like your camp is settling in quite nicely! Did everyone contribute to the official flag? And look, Amy, your camp is in Canada :D
Reporting for duty! Looks like everything is shipshape and ready to go!Love the flag! : )
Oh, Amy, so sorry about your wrist! What a bummer! You must take it easy. Big Hug!!
Helen 2 reporting also. Running fast to get top bunk by window - great spot to sneak out & steal wine, s'mores etc from other camps. BTW, will be bouncing around a lot since my bra is blowing in the wind on the flagpole.
Helen 2, you make me giggle, especially when I see your bra waving on the flagpole! No one would notice my bra if we ran it up the flagpole! lol Hope we find some gimlets or G & Ts while we are here. : )

TY Jmom. Happy to know someone has things under control! Something tells me this group is going to be a handful :)

I hope your wrist gets better soon. Which hand do you hold your books with? Does this mean the other camps might be at an advantage?
AmyK wrote: "ill add mine to that flagpole. do you KNOW how hard it is to put one of those on one handed?!"I had shoulder surgery a few years ago, so couldn't use one arm and had to go braless for months! I had to buy a bunch of front button shirts to wear to work. I don't have a lot up top, but enough to need some support. And then you realize how flimsy most of your summer shirts are - it's all a ginormous pain! You whole life is affected - cleaning ( including yourself), laundry, driving, eating (wait until someone has to cut your food up in a restaurant!), and caring for your kids is crazy I bet!
Lol Great pep talk Jmom! (I know you are helping and being practical, it just amused me). Never thought about summer clothes problems before...Hope it heals quick Amy! I've been whinging all night as we had a heap of injections today and my arm hurts like hell. I'd obviously be a complete pain in the arse if my arm was completely out of action.
Feel better soon Amy. I spent the last year getting over a frozen shoulder. It was a small miracle when I could put on a bra normally! I guess we know who will be excused from KP duty ( dishes)!
AmyK wrote: "your camp counselor was delayed due to a wrist injury!! here i am!!! welcome campers!"I didn't do it! I was minding my own business in Camp Jingalo, writing letters to my mom, when you tripped over that bag of deer poop in front of your cabin!
I'm innocent. No really, I am.☻
Amy, hope you feel better soon. Take care. You're always welcome to drop by Camp Happy for some marshmallows, s'mores and wine. :)
Lurking and laughing :-)Hey Amy you don't have to do KP; you get to read extra!
Marnie, I have frozen shoulder now and I can vouch it isn't very nice; glad to know there is a (flash)light at the end of the dark woods :-)
Almeta, ewwwww, really??? Deer Poop; you are a gentle soul, me I would have gone both barrels with the bear poop bags; one in front of the cabin and one hung over the door...:-) Naw that's just my imagination, really, I wouldn't do that, never, never, never, (innocent look with devilish smile)

So sorry about your injury, Amy. Here's a song to rally the troops!!! (from the 1966 Disney Movie, "Follow Me Boys") ♫♪ FOLLOW ME GIRLS ♪♫
Follow me girls, follow me,
When you think you're really beat
That's the time to lift your feet,
And follow me girls, follow me,
Pick'em up, put'em down and follow me,
Pick'em up, put'em down pick'em up.
There's a job to do,
There's a fight to win,
Follow me girls, follow me,
And it won't be done till we all pitch in,
Lift your chin with a grin and follow me.
It's a long long climb,
But we've got the will,
Follow me girls, follow me,
When we reach the top
Then it's all down hill,
Till you drop don't stop and follow me.
So the journey's end
Is beyond our sight,
Follow me girls, follow me,
If we do our best
Then we've done alright,
Pack your BOOKS, hit the road and follow me

I vote we leave the canoes up there ..... we had no interest in using them right? ::Goes back to the bar for a drink and the relaxes on the conveniently laid out mats:: ;)
Well I'm settling in. Need to start the camp fire and roast some hot dogs and marshmellows. Sorry about your wrist Amy. Hope feel better soon.
Mmmmmm, love me a great campfire. My sister, Almeta, is up north right now and I'm so jealous. I know she'll be enjoying some libations by the fire at least once while she's up there in the middle of the woods with so sounds but those of nature. Sigh....
Northern Michigan. About a 4 hour trip from where we live in SE Michigan. There's a cabin and trailer in the woods and a walkway through the forest to the cleanest river. I'm just itching to be there!
Debra, my YLTO sister! : ) Yea!I understand that the lakes of Michigan are so beautiful they are rapidly becoming a favorite vacation spot for Americans. I hope Almeta has a fantastic trip.

Remind me, can I combine toppler with ABC?And I'm going to read soon The Catcher in the Rye any loophole how to sneak this book in toppler?
Beverly wrote: 2. NOS4A2 ( It's suppose to be scary, so I hope it fits.)"Thanks for the idea... I had a hard time with this one... I used to read a lot of horror when I was younger, but now, not that much, but I have read a couple of his books, so... ;)
Since it's my first time, I have a couple of questions for you more experienced campers ;)Can I "do" a task more than once, or will I have to go through them all before being able to come back to an already done task (as if I can go through them all LOL)?
Can I "do" the tasks in the order I want or will there be an imposed order or a random order?
Can I use the toppler books for the ABC challenge?
Thanks
Oh you eager beavers - I hope you've left room for adjustments! All the tasks aren't posted yet :D Definitely by midnight Friday night, so don't get locked in to your choices yet.Anna wrote: "Remind me, can I combine toppler with ABC?

YES, Toppler works with anything. You won't need a loophole for Catcher. One of the coming tasks will cover it.
Marie Claude wrote: "Since it's my first time, I have a couple of questions for you more experienced campers ;)

You can do any task you want, as many times as you want, in any order you want! Toppler works for all other challenges/ group reads.

---- Edit to include tasks ----
Arts and Crafts
Read a book and do an art project or make a craft from it. Cooking a dish counts, but the recipe doesn’t have to be in a cookbook.
Picture must be posted for ten extra points!
Talent Show – Read about a singer, dancer, or musician (fiction or nonfiction).
Make a short video of yourself singing, dancing, or playing an instrument, and post it for fifteen extra points.
Movie Night – Read a book that was made into a movie.
Pick a scene and tell how it will be/has been ruined in the movie, in decent detail for 10 extra points.
The Big Dance – Whether it was just your camp, or combined camps, this was always a highlight. I met a boyfriend there, oh to be young and silly and think you’re in love... Read a book about young love.
Campfire Stories – Read a scary book. Make it scarier by reading part of it under the covers with a flashlight.
Camp Nicknames – What was yours?
Read a book written under a pen name. Be sure and tell us the author’s real name.
OR Read a book where the character is using an alias, or going by a nickname (not derived from their real name).
Did you ever catch fireflies? Read a fantasy
There were team oriented activities - round-robin songs were always popular. You’ll need 3 cabin mates for this. The 3 will read the same book and discuss it. A great way to read the June Group Read, or another book of your choosing. You will set up a separate topic for your discussion, and copy it to the Group Reads folder if qualifies. Yes, this counts as ten points for each person, or 30 points total.
Besides memories, you may have kept a diary, and possibly you sent post cards to family. Read a book that’s in a diary, letter, journal, or similar format.
Ever been on a fun-filled road trip family vacation? Fighting with siblings, being yelled at by parents, ahh, what fond memories. Sometimes you don’t even remember where you were, just the wonderful quality time with family!
Fighting for your share of the back seat without having to touch your brothers and sisters? Read a book that has siblings fighting.
The most common phrase on a long car trip - Are we there yet??? Read a book about a long journey.
Did you ever play the license plate game? Read a book set in a place you’ve never been, but would like to visit on vacation.
Was your vacation (or camp) at a mountain or beach setting? Read a book located in the opposite setting.
Theme park or historical sights? Read a YA book OR history or historical fiction.
The Biggie! It’s a Scavenger Hunt!
Spend the week being on the lookout for these items. Be creative! Take a picture, upload it to photobucket (use my June Toppler album if you don’t want to create an account - (http://s1152.photobucket.com/user/jax... - and from there you can post the pictures in topics I will set up for each camp. This is not a race, take your time! I don't want each camp assigning items to people. I want everyone getting pics of all items they can. I'll be setting up threads for each camp to post their pictures in. I hope this makes sense – let me know if there are any questions. Ok, the items:
Umbrella
Heart, any color but red
Flashlight or lantern
Tent or sleeping bag
Campfire
Cocktail
Yellow piece of fruit
Strange roadside sign/billboard
Canoe, kayak or sailboat
