Chris was still recovering from the blind flash when his eyes finally adjusted to the scene around him. He had somehow ended on his knees, a sharp pain shooting up his leg confirming he'd fallen near a broken bottle. Fortunately it was only a small cut so he stood up and shrugged it off, making sure no one else saw. Rubbing his eyes, he gripped the Glock to check it was still there before speaking.
"So...what do we do now?"
His voice was quiet but with no trace of fear, instead sounding more like determination. It was his first mission, he was in no position to be ordering the others around.

"We go check the news," Tori muttered, looking around for a newspaper store/booth. "I mean, we have to look for information, yes?" She shot him a look of distaste and strode down the street, acting as if this was her mission. "You guys coming or not?" she called over her shoulder.
Chris raised his eyebrows, at first impressed but then from surprise at her bitterness. Something told him she was human and disliked working with mutants, but he decided to comply nonetheless, quickly following Tori down the street without giving a second thought to the others.
"Just so you know, I can turn invisible. If you need a some eyes somewhere, I'm your guy."
He looked up at Tori, giving an attempt at a warm smile though the frown on her face told him it wouldn't work.

Tori ignored him completely, making it look worse. Her quick eyes scanned the streets and perked up once she spotted a newspaper booth. Without pointing it out to the others, she sprinted dangerously across the street. Lucky for her, she wasn't knocked down in the process. She strolled over to the booth, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Once reaching the booth, she ignored the old man's warm greeting and got on with business, browsing through the papers.
Chris looked behind to the others with a confused look, raising his shoulders. He shook his head and let out a laughter of disbelief, pointing Tori out at the newspaper booth.
"Is she always like this or does she just not like me?"
He didn't wait for a reply though. As soon as he finished, he shook his head again and sprinted off after her, the only difference between how they got there being that Chris apologised to the people he ran into. Reaching Tori, he started playing with the edge of one of the discarded papers.
"No offence but a newspaper made yesterday won't tell us where she is today..."
He looked down at his feet to hide himself from Tori's inevitable glare, knowing that he probably should have kept his mouth shut.

"Shut up, Mr. Invisible. You want to make suggestions? Make better ones than that crap you just gave me," Tori snapped, glaring at him furiously over the top of her paper with her cold and emotionless eyes. She pursed her lips and said to the old man coldly, "Sir, is there any news about a big...tsunami-type-of-disaster lately?"
Chris narrowed his eyes but said nothing. He glanced back over to where the rest of the team were, shrugging his shoulders again. He mouthed the words she doesn't like me... before turning back to Tori and the man before he felt the need to re-check the papers Tori had finished with.
((Okay, so the old man hands them the paper with Sylvia and they read about it and find that the police has no clue on what went on and no news about where she is-that's my plan. And I don't really think Chris is annoying, he's just polite and more gentleman-ish. Tori just hates everybody. :P))
The old man looked insulted by her tone but handed her another paper they haven't seen before. "This is the last one..." he muttered as Tori snatched it from his fingers ruthlessly, scaring the old man a little. He shrunk back, not used to this hostility and turned away from them. Tori flipped through the paper furiously, causing people to bump into one another, trying to avoid her hands and the paper. Tori didn't even notice. Finally, she found what she was looking for, scanning through the text, her brow furrowed more and more until she finished the whole review of what happened. Hissing in annoyance, Tori flung the paper back at the elderly man's back rudely and marched away, clearly pissed off by what she read.

Chris eyes were darting between Tori and the people she was making bump into each other. Feeling guilty on her behalf, he found himself apologising to each one, though each time went unnoticed. When he heard the sound of paper hitting something, or somebody, he realised Tori had found something. Turning eagerly, he discovered she had already started to walk off. Apologising to the old man as well now, he ran off after her, eager to find out what had made her so upset.
"Nothing!" Tori hissed, the 'anger' on her face. (Her eyes show that she's really not feeling anything at all.) "Stupid NYPD," she muttered, "they don't know that it's Sylvia!" She wrung her hands about, hitting some people who she didn't even glance at.
Amaryllis watched Tori and Christopher in shock before racing forwards to follow them, beckoning Jane to follow, too. She swooped past and threaded through people and finally reached Chris. "What has happened?" she asked him, "What did Tori find in that paper?"
((Sorry about all the swearing.))
Tori snarled at Amaryllis and Jane and Chris. "What the heck," she snapped, "the stupid NYPD as sure as Hell are idiots! I mean, they weren't even clueless enough to know that is had to be something wrong! What in the world do they mean 'unfortunate accident'? Yeah right, it was an unfortunate accident that they lost their brains!" She let out an irritated groan and continued marching down the street to...somewhere.

Chris shrugged in reply to Jane and Amaryllis, though he did feel the need to explain something. He opened his mouth to speak but was cut off by Tori, who when explained what annoyed her seemed right in a way. Still before he could reply, Tori had marched off again, though this time he waited.
"So she's pretty mad. I think it's best she has some space to think it over. I don't know her, but she seems to have a short fuse..."
He smiled at Jane, only just registering that she was here too. He looked at her questioningly as if to ask whether she was OK, purely for Felix's sake.

"Are the three of you slow, little slugs coming or not? You've this...way of being slow and blur, you know. Put that on the top of your New Year Improvements list, would you?" Tori growled back to the three of them, holding up a hand to tell them to get a move on. "But for now, snails. Just keep up with me. It'll do you good."
Amaryllis shook her head and told the other two, "Yeah, she's pretty much a very short-tempered assassin in Enigma. She's been here for a long time, so she's got some experience. But I guess she's not used to up-front battle but more of...sneak attacks. However her temper, if you get to know her, I bet she'd go a little bit softer." She then raced after Tori, motioning Chris and Jane to follow.

Chris looked over to Jane and shrugged. He may be new, in fact it was his first full day at Enigma, but that much he could tell from Tori already. He began to run after Amaryllis rather than Tori and expected Jane to follow, though at this point he was within earshot of Tori.
"It'll do you good not to make your team mad. There's a reason we were assigned to this mission, and it wasn't to take orders from you!"
He narrowed his eyes, shaking his head. He wasn't one to get mad or get into arguments, but it seemed to him if no one stood up to Tori he would have to.

"What in the world did I do to make you mad?" Tori turned around so suddenly that Amaryllis ran into her. Tori shoved Amaryllis to the ground and marched over to Chris. "Huh? It's you that not really helping! Give me a few reasons why can't I hasten this up!" she glared at him, her cold eyes not displaying any feelings.
((gtg now. bye.))
((gtg now. bye.))
Chris ignored Tori's rage and bent down to help Amaryllis up before walking directly to Tori, his face inches from hers but showing no anger, just an expressionless face, if anything with the hint of a smile.
"I'm just saying, this isn't your mission. Try to remember we're a team, not just your backup."
He glanced over to Amaryllis again, just to make sure she was OK, before looking back to Tori as if to prove a point.

Désirée's eyes teared slight. "Oh, please, everyone stop your quarreling. We're a team, are we not?" she begged quietly in her French accented voice, tears glistening in her pale gray eyes. She's accepted the mission in the hopes of perhaps bonding with the other members of the Enigma, but so far, no good seemed to come of it. Maybe she didn't quite have a right to cry, as none of the other were, but this sight simply saddened her too much. It seemed no matter where in the Enigma she was, everyone constantly fought. We're they simply doomed to continue this? Or perhaps that kindness she'd been shown by Jay and that other girl in the simulation room what seemed like ages ago still exists?
Chris looked over to Jane and Désirée, still not backing away from Tori simply because he was insistent that he wasn't fighting, just trying to keep the peace, though he didn't feel the need to state this.
"I'm sorry guys. I didn't realise I was upsetting you. I'll try my best to keep my mouth shut."
He looked at Tori out of the corner of his eyes, expecting her to say something as well.

Amaryllis thanked Chris and Jane for helping her while Tori just stood there, fuming. "Fine, you wanna' be my teammates and not my backup crew? Why can't you prove it to me that you guys are worth more? Why don't you guys raise a great suggestion, huh?" Tori hissed angrily. She didn't like teammates and was really used on going out solo. Maybe that was why General Sully always put her as reserve...Well, too bad for them Grayson can't come, Tori hissed in her mind, they'll just have to get used to my pace. Stubborn and unwilling to back down, Tori turned and continued walking down the street, not waiting to hear their replies.
Amaryllis nodded and followed Jane. "How do you think we're ever going to find Sylvia? She wasn't on the newspaper according to Tori," she asked her fellow teammates.
Désirée scurried after everyone, quickly wiping a tear from her eye. This mission didn't exactly seem promising, but she was hoping that they'd be able to make the best of it. After all, it was her first, as well as possibly her last, seeing as she wasn't exactly field agent material. This was likely General Sully's idea as a sort of test run, to see what would happen if Désirée was in the field. Of course, knowing herself better than anyone else, she was bound to trip or something at some crucial moment and muddle any chances she had of ever going on another missino.
Sensing Désirée's feelings, Amaryllis tried to comfort her teammate. She put and arm around Désirée's back-she's not tall enough to put an arm around Désirée's shoulders-and asked her, "How about you, Désirée? Do you have a good suggestion?" She smiled reassuringly at Désirée to tell her that Amaryllis had her back.
"No... No suggestions..." Désirée answered Amaryllis hastily. She feared that if any of her ideas were followed, then it'd merely lead to some sort of catastrophe. After all, she knew nothing of this Slyvia Beaumont beyond what she'd gleaned from skimming the file, and she was't trained in anything beside botany and medicine. For now she was content to stick to the sidelines, and assist when she was absolutely confident that she wasn't going to mess up.
Deciding that her anger was supposed to have ended soon, Tori turned with a softer expression on her face. "Okay. Fine, guys. You're right. You're right. I'm not in charge and I have no idea what I'm doing so if any of you are brave and smart enough to give us all a brilliant suggestion, I suggest now. If not, let's head for a coffee shop and drink. I seriously need coffee..." she trailed off and waited for her teammates to answer.
Amaryllis coughed into her fist, not really sure what to take of this. Yeah, she didn't have a suggestion so she looked between Chris, Desiree, Jane and Tori, recalling all their powers and abilities. Right now, they needed someone to find out where Sylvia was and who could be the most capable of that? Chris could spy and so could Tori. Desiree could heal and would. And Jane could control lights while she could fly and look through almost anything... What did that make?
(I did some detective stuff with Amaryllis already and since you guys should shine too, take it from there, okay?)

Effective immediately: The current mission is cancelled, all Enigma members involved are requested to return to HQ. A new mission will be available in the near future. Sorry for any inconvenience, and we hope that you will bare with us as we are in transition.

The mission is cancelled? What about Kristin's character?
The mission is cancelled? What about Kristin's character?
((Hm...maybe she could escape on her own and return to Enigma HQ herself?))
((Hmm. My character's mutation isn't something she can use for her escape. So I think she can't do it on her own. And besides there won't be any drama lol. But thanks for the suggestion ^.^))
((Is your character um...does your character have 'sully' as her last name?))
((She doesn't have a history yet, so does that make her unaccepted?))
