P. J. O'Rourke Funny and insightful

Michael Medved One of the smartest conservatives around, and he used to be a liberal

Still very topical despite writing in the 1800's.Frédéric Bastiat

Fred | 2 comments Russell Kirk is my favorite conservative author.

message 4: by Fred (new)

Fred | 2 comments I also really recommend Jonah Goldberg's Liberal Fascism.

message 5: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Martino | 6 comments Glenn Beck. Unfortunately, we need more conservative voices. Free speech mandated in the Constitution seems not to apply to us conservatives. If you do not conform to the liberal, media agenda you are considered ignorant, biased and a right wing nut. And if you believe in God and are a conservative, you are labeled a religious nut also.

Stephen Martino | 6 comments I finished Glenn Beck new book, Eye of Molloch. It's a definite must read!

Zachary Custer | 2 comments Glenn Beck
David Barton
Larry Schweikart

Very. I've been reading his work lately and it's amazing that we're still fighting the exact same economic ignorance that he was fighting 170 years ago.

Jan Tenery 1. Victor Davis Hanson. His military history books are good, and he is a frequent blogger on current events.
2. Leonard Read. "I, Pencil" is a classic!
3. David Limbaugh. "Jesus on Trial" was a wonderful personal testimony as well as a fairly comprehensive review of Christian apologetics.

message 11: by Larry (new)

Larry Orr | 2 comments 1. Whittaker Chambers, author of Witness (New York: Random House, 1952)

2. Rose Wilder Lane, author of The Discovery of Freedom (New York: Day, 1943)

3. Ralph de Toledano, author of Lament for a Generation (New York: Farrar, Strauss and Cudahy, 1960--and many others)

message 12: by Fred (new)

Fred (fredvlucasgmailcom) | 2 comments Mark Levin, Jonah Goldberg and Rich Lowry are the best recent conservative authors.

Christian Kachel | 1 comments Mark Levin
Freiderich Hayek
Edmund Burke

I also encourage every one to check out my new historical novel, Spoils of Olympus: World at War. Unlike most ancient movies/books, this one does not go out of its way to denigrate western civilization and actually celebrates the success and acomplishments of Alexander the Great and the ancient Greeks.

Sounds like one I would like to read.

message 15: by Jim (new)

Jim (goodreadscomuser_jim311) Pat Buchanan: "Death of the West" and "Suicide of a Superpower" were the first two political books I read when I became interested in politics around Jr. High. I find him to be one of the best writers American conservatism has to offer. He simply has a way with words.

Larry Schweikart: A great historian, "A Patriot's history of the United States" was a long read but very factual and enjoyable.

Rand Paul: His pre-presidential run book "Taking a Stand" was really well written, He's an eloquent speaker, (especially when he filibustered) but now also an excellent writer.

message 16: by Monalisa (new)

Monalisa Foster (m2foster) Is there a list of fiction authors as well? While I enjoy all these non-fiction authors just fine, I lament the lack of conservative-themed fiction. I know Beck has put out some fiction, but frankly, I didn't care for it. I liked his non-fiction though.

message 17: by Del (last edited Feb 03, 2017 12:57PM) (new)

Del Beyer | 1 comments My three favorite authors at this time are Glenn Beck, David Barton, and Dinesh D'Souza. All three definitely influenced my new constitutional conservatism book, An Awakened Passion.

message 18: by John (new)

John Beaman | 2 comments I really like David Barton as well! Some of his lectures at Liberty University were part of my classes and I really enjoyed them! By the way, your book sounds really interesting! If you have a PDF, I would be honored to read and review it. If this interests you, please let me know. Be blessed!

message 19: by Sheryl (new)

Sheryl | 1 comments Only three? That's tough. So many to choose from. I would say those who first come to mind are Rush Limbaugh, Thomas Sowell, and Dr. James Dobson. (Dinesh D'Souza and Joe Dallas would also be on my list.)

message 20: by Eric C 1965 (new)

Eric C 1965 | 1 comments Thomas Sowell, Os Guinness, and Chuck Colson from the 21st century.
Russell Kirk, Fredrich Hayek, and Aleksander Solzhenitsyn from the 20th.
John Locke, Alexis de Tocqueville, and Moses before that.

message 21: by T.K. (new)

T.K. Kanwar | 1 comments Late to the party but I'd choose: Pat Buchanan (agree with Jim above), Mark Goodwin, and Kurt Schlichter.
