Jana sat on her bed, reading a book called 'One Hundred ways to Catch a Thief'. (Her new Cahill study book.)

Jana sighed, there's nothing to do in Greenland! She closed her book and walked over to her computer, she signed into her email. 3 unread messages "Yay!" she whispered. She opened the one from Cathy her friend from Ireland.

Cathy sat on the plane wondering why she decided to impersonate the Madrigals. 'I'll die! I should never have been dumb enough to do this!' she thought. She looked at Maddie, a fellow Lucian, who has been her friend from the start. "Maddie, why are going to Egypt?" Cathy asked. Maddie was the only Lucian brave enough to go with her."Because, the Madrigals think Amy and Dan are there looking for a clue." Maddie replied. They were assigned to find Amy and Dan and kill them. They didn't think they should die and NEEDED to make sure they NEVER cross paths with Grace's so called "lawyer" again. "I hope they're right," Cathy said.

Hey, Jana!
Maddie and I are on a mission. Can't tell you where. How are you?

Cathy wondered why Jana didn't e-mail her back. 'I should call her.' She thought while she dialed Jana's cell phone number.

Jana's phone rang, she looked at the contact name, CAT, it read. She flipped it open. "Hey, I was just replying to your email! What mission are you on?"

Cathy decided that since the Madrigals couldn't hear she should tell Jana. "Amy and Dan are on their way to Egypt." she explained. "It's mine and Maddie's mission to find out why. Oh and guess what, the Madrigals don't want them ALIVE any more! When we find Amy and Dan, we have to KILL them!" Then Cathy got an idea. "Hey,come with us to Egypt!"

"What? That's crazy!" Jana said surprised. "You have to get the to safety." beep beep "Hold on I have another call coming in." Jana clicked a number on her phone and said, "Hello?"

"Um, hi, Jana," said James Cahill unconfidently on the other end. "What's up?"

"Talking to Cathy, how are you?" Jana said.

Maddie heard Cathy tell Jana about the mission. "ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T TELL ANY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Maddie said. "Well, Jana can help us. I think James should come too." Cathy said back.

"WHAT?!?!?!" Maddie said. "Well,when Jana comes back I'll tell her to invite James too." Cathy replied. "James is BAD news! DO NOT TRUST HIM!!!!!" Maddie countered, getting mad. "We CAN trust him! YOU haven't even given him a chance!!!!!" Cathy almost yelled. Maddie's witty comeback was: "I just hope he won't try to KILL us like last time." That made it worse. "THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!!!!! HE DIDN'T MEAN TO SET OFF THAT BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Cathy yelled.

"Hello? What's going on?" James said through the phone.

"I'll call you back, Cathy!" Jana pushed a button on her cell. She heard James say something.
"Oh, Sorry, for the hold up, my mother just yelled something." Jana told James. " You on a mission?"

"I guess so. I'm really just getting some clues back here in the states, you know, to ahead of the game." James said. Man, I sound so stupid. How can I be talking so casually to them when the last time I saw them I set off a bomb on them?

"Your not still mad about the bomb accident with Maddie and Cathy, are you?"

Cathy needed to text James. He should know that she forgives him for the fact that he almost killed them. She texted him saying that she forgives him for setting off that bomb. It wasn't HIS fault that the bomb set off too early! Yeah if they had at least 3 more seconds to run, the Madrigal base might have blown up too.Then again, if Maddie let Cathy call Jana to come with them it might have blown up at the right time. But no! Maddie just forced James to do it! Maddie knew James could do any thing BUT wire a bomb! So, just because the red wire wasn't connected to the blue one, it just HAD to blow up early! Now James blames himself for the WHOLE thing!

Jana emailed that to Cathy from her phone. "You still there?" Jana said into the phone.
"Yeah," James said. Jana heard a loud noise in the background. "oh, gotta go!" James hanged up before Jana could say anything.

Cathy was SO mad! Maddie won't let Jana and James help them! Cathy decided to call James. No matter what Maddie said.

"That was odd." Jana said. She looked at her email inbox. 87 unread messages the sender name was " Head Quarters TOP SECRET"
Jana eagerly opened the first message.

Gabriella Cahill sat at the dusty desk. She opened up her grey laptop, which lit up the pitch black room. She pulled up a Google search, hesitated, then typed in "Egyptian pyramids". She clicked on the first link, and started to read:


The Egyptian pyramids are ancient pyramid-shaped masonry structures located in Egypt. There are over 100 pyramids in Egypt. Most were built as tombs for the country's Pharaohs and their consorts during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods. The earliest known Egyptian pyramid is the Pyramid of Djoser which was built during the third dynasty. This pyramid and its surrounding complex were designed by the architect Imhotep, and are generally considered to be the world's oldest monumental structures constructed of dressed masonry. The best known Egyptian pyramids are those found at Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. Several of the Giza pyramids are counted among the largest structures ever built. The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid. It is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still in existence.


She thought, her long fingers barely touching the keys, then searched "Pyramid of Khufu". A link caught her eye. It was called "Secret Chambers of the Great Pyramid of Khufu."


Gilles Dormion, in conjunction with Jean Patrice Goidin, has participated in various work at the Great Pyramid built by Khufu at Giza in Egypt. They did discover some abnormalities and obtained authorization from the Supreme Council of Antiquities to drill a series of minute holes into the west wall of the Queen's Chamber. The project, testing the theory of a hidden chamber behind the west wall, revealed a large cavity filled with unusually fine sand. Somewhat widely reported in the news of late, a French team consisting of Dormion and Jean-Yves Verd'hurt claim that a fourth, undiscovered room lies underneath the pyramid's so-called Queen's Chamber and insist that it is likely the burial chamber for the Egyptian Pharaoh, also known as Cheops, even though a damaged sarcophagus was found in the upper chamber known as the King's Chamber. They believe that, were this room to be discovered, it would perhaps never have been violated, and would probably contain the king's remains.

So that's why Amy and Dan went to Egypt, thought Gabriella. It makes perfect sense. The next clue must be in the fourth room! And I have something they don't have. Speed.
She snapped her fingers. The lights in the room came on and a man dressed in all black opened the door. Gaby shoved her laptop back into its case and walked over to him. "I need a jet to Egypt," she said, pushing past him. "Now."
She headed to her room. Her black suitcase was already packed and ready, laying on her bed.

Maddie thought that this Lucian was an idiot. How could she think she was a stupid Lucian? She was a Madrigal for pete's sake! She decided to call Gaby, then thought better of it. Just then the pilot's voice sounded through the Madrigals jet."5 minutes till we arrive in Egypt!" Maddie smiled. Once they find Any and Dan EVERY one will be down. Permanently. The only reason she had James wire the bomb, was so it would kill him and Cathy. But no,they had to survive. Maddie pulled out her cell phone. She went to settings. Five names came on the screen, James,Jana,Gaby,Amy,Dan,Vlaco,Kyle. She clicked on Gaby's name first,and Gaby was on the screen. She was on her laptop searching Egypt. She zoomed in on the screen. It read:

'So,she's been following Amy and Dan too. Well, it's too bad they're already there. And we will arrive.............NOW!' "We are now in Egypt!" The pilot said. 'I'll make sure we find Amy,Dan,Jana,James,and Gaby. Then I'll get every one together,Cathy too. And kill them! That way I'll have all the clues so far and, I'l get rid of them at the same time.' Maddie thought.

A few minutes later, Gaby was up in the air, riding on her private jet. She glanced out her window. It was already dark. She had gotten a late start, but she was sure she could make it up.
She got out her iPod, turned it to a soft song, and allowed herself to fall asleep. She had a feeling she was going to need it.

In her dream, she was looking at a boy about 14 or so running along a maze. He kept glancing behind him, like someone was following him. He sprinted around a corner, and almost ran into the wall. It was a dead end.
First all Gaby heard was the boy's fast breathing. Then she heard the CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP of footsteps on a tile floor. The boy backed as close as he could to the wall, and...

Someone shook her awake. Gaby opened one eye, thoroughly annoyed at whoever had woken her. But then she forgot everything when the person spoke. "We have arrived in Egypt."

4 hours after Jana talked to James...

Jana had yet to find out where James was. She went to Goodsearch and looked up "Boston Massacre" she didn't know why, but she just had feeling it had something to do with James and a clue.

Jana clicked on a link. She read this:
Boston Massacre
March 5, 1770
Tensions between the American colonists and the British were already running high in the early spring of 1770. Late in the afternoon, on March 5, a crowd of jeering Bostonians slinging snowballs gathered around a small group of British soldiers guarding the Boston Customs House. The soldiers became enraged after one of them had been hit, and they fired into the crowd, even though they were under orders not to fire. Five colonists were shot and killed.

The first person who was hit when the British soldiers began firing was an African American sailor named Crispus Attucks. Although not much is known about his past, it's likely that Attucks escaped slavery around 1750 and worked on whaling ships for the next 20 years. Of the five civilians who died in the Boston Massacre, Attucks is the only one who became widely known, and he became the first hero of the American Revolution.

Conflicts between the British and the colonists had been on the rise because the British government had been trying to increase control over the colonies and raise taxes at the same time. The event in Boston helped to unite the colonies against Britain. What started as a minor fight became a turning point in the beginnings of the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre helped spark the colonists' desire for American independence, while the dead rioters became martyrs for liberty. Can you think of other major events in history that began with a small incident?

Jana read the last line over and over again. After 20 minutes she grabbed her cell phone and her emergency back pack from her bed. She headed out the door.

Maddie and Cathy got off the plane. 'I have to get rid of Cathy now!' Maddie thought as she ran to the desserts of Egypt.

Jana ran down through the trees in Maine, USA. She has to get rid of the man that's following her. She tripped the man was right above her. "Jana?!" he said.
"James?!"

Cathy wondered what Maddie was doing and followed. Maddie said,"Well,Cathy,we've known each other a for long time." when they were far enough to where no one could hear. Cathy nodded. "But,it's time for you to know the truth." Maddie continued.'What is she talking about?' Cathy thought. Maddie smiled. "You see. I'm not a Lucian, I'm a Madrigal." Cathy wanted to scream. She knew what was going to happen next. "I have to kill you now, so you won't get in the way." Maddie said pulling out a gun. Cathy had to think fast. 'Maddie has REALLY sensitive eyes' she thought. Cathy scoped up a hand full of sand and flung it at Maddie. Direct hit. Cathy ran as fast as she could. 'I have to warn everybody' she thought. When Maddie was out of site she sat down in the sand. She pulled out her cellphone and called James.

Jana heard a faint sound, "Is that your cell?" Jana asked James. He reached for his pocket.
"Nope." He replied. Jana looked at her cell phone. "CAT" She flipped it open.
"Hello, This Jana Cahill, I can't take your call right now. Please leave a message after this beep.BEEP" Jana said into her phone.

Cathy was wondering how much longer Jana was going to do that. "JANA! I HAVE BIG PROBLEMS! REALLY BIG!" Cathy said. "Is James with you?" she asked. When Jana said yes,she told her to put her on speaker. When they were on speaker, she told them every thing that had just happened. When Cathy was done she said,"You guys have to help me. And the only way to do that is to come to Egypt."

"We're in Maine!" Jana said. "Let me think, if we leave right now on jet, we'll probably make it in 12 hours?" Cathy sighed.
"You need to be quicker!"

Cathy thought. Then she said,"If you guys don't hurry up and get on a jet right now, EVERY body is most likely to die! James, I think I know why Maddie wanted you to wire the bomb." Cathy said. James voice sounded on the other end,"WHAT?! YOU KNOW WHY?!" Cathy sighed, "Just get on a plane,NOW!!!!!" Cathy said.

Within 5 seconds James and Jana were on a jet to Egypt.

NOW they were doing what Cathy wanted!!!

45 minutes later

"We're preparing to land." James said watching the wheels come out of plane.

"WHAT?! We still have hours! What's going on?" Jana said.

Cathy found a place to stay. She heard a knock a the door. When she opened it,she was face to face with Maddie."Good-bye." Maddie said. She pointed her gun at Cathy, and shot.

Jana got out of her seat and walked over to the cockpit. "What's going on?" Jana asked the pilot.

Cathy saw Maddie cock the gun. She started to turn and run, but she wasn't fast enough. Her upper right arm got shot. Blood splattered, Cathy fell. She was gripping her arm, she heard Maddie leave. She got up, but her arm felt horrible. She checked the wound and saw something that scarred her. The wound was poisoned. MADDIE POISONED THE BULLET!!!! Cathy needed help, fast. She called Jana, nothing. She called James, nothing. Then she thought 'Kyle!' He's a fellow Lucian, and Cathy's best friend. She knew Kyle was in Egypt. She got up and looked through her backpack, her arm hurting the whole time, and found the piece of paper with Kyle's cell number on. She dialed his number. He picked up on the fourth ring.

"Is everything okay Catherine?!" Kyle said into the phone.
"I need help, I'm at a hotel in Abydos, Egypt."
"Your in luck I'm in Abydos too. I'll be there in a minute."

"HURRY!!!!" she yelled. The blood wouldn't stop. Her breath was coming in short gasps. "I'm....room....314..." now she could barely talk. She heard Kyle yell,"WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!" But she couldn't talk. She hung up the phone, hoping Kyle would get to her in time. She heard the door slam open. "Kyle!" she said, she was happy that he had gotten there before she passed out from blood loss. She looked up to see the horrified face of Kyle. "Oh my god! What happened?!" He yelled. Cathy just shook her head and gasped," Maddie.....bullet......poisoned.......help!" And passed out.

Kyle grabbed some cloth off her bed and wrapped it around her arm. "Just breath steadily. Everything is alright." Kyle went to the bathroom and came back with a cup of water. "Here drink this."

Cathy gasped for air as she took the glass. She could talk now. "What happened?" Kyle asked. Cathy looked at him and said,"Maddie's a Madrigal, and she just shot me and-wait, did you get the poison out?" Kyle looked at her and said, "What poison?" Cathy was surprised," WHAT?! YOU DIDN'T GET THE POISON OUT?!?!?! THE BULLET IS POISONED!!!!!!"

Kyle quickly took the cloth off. "This might hurt." Kyle said. He grabbed his pocket knife and took out the poisoned bullet and poured water on the poisoned part of her arm. The poison slowing dranded out. After her arm was clear of poison, Kyle wrapped Cathy's arm up with new cloth.
