Shannan | 12 comments Reading The Kitchen House well actually listening to it. Pretty good - the tone reminds me of The Book Thief

Ashley I enjoyed The Kitchen House. It was a quick read, because I couldn't put it down.

Maija | 1 comments Just started The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. Really good so far - one of those books with different character's stories & you know they will all intersect by the end. Before that, I read Where'd You Go, Bernadette? which was a super fun & quick read. A bit silly but fun satire, especially if you're familiar with Seattle.

Karin | 14 comments I liked Bernadette alot. Read History of Love a long time ago....didn't love it as much as everyone else seemed to but I did like it.

Jerilyn Mettlin (jerilyn_mettlin) | 5 comments Just started 'The Shining Girls' by Lauren Beukes but need something else good to read.....

message 7: by Shannan (new)

Shannan | 12 comments I agree with what Jerilyn said on the latest podcast - The Shining Girls is kind of a tough read. The writing isn't catching me at all and I'm 100 pages in. I'm thinking if abandoning it and I bought it too (I usually use the library).
It's kind of a ripoff of King's 11/22/63

Jerilyn Mettlin (jerilyn_mettlin) | 5 comments Yea ,Shannan - 'The SHinging Girls' is rip-off of 11/22/63 but nowhere as good! Not so many interesting details of the different time periods as my beloved Stephen King included.
I paid 12.99 on iTUnes for it so I am slogging through but am finding it a little clunky and hasn't become a 'pageturner' so far. I want to find one of those books where I simply cannot put it down!

message 10: by Karin (new)

Karin | 14 comments Paris Wife: Eh. I think I did a tiny review on my bookshelf if you want to check it out.

message 11: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I guess I need to download 11/22/63 since I loved the Shining Girls and everyone seems to think its an inferior rip-off.
