I, as both the group moderator and introvert, am starting a discussion at last. I've been reading a book called, "The Introvert Advantage". It's been a real-eye opener, lemme tell you. There are some moments when I just think, 'Hey, I know that person! It's me!' I feel that way, like I've finally realized who I am and am willing to accept it. I'm interested to know about the other members' thoughts on themselves.

Logan | 10 comments I am confused, lost, kind of. I tell myself I know why I'm on this world, but then I know for a fact that I don't really know why. I am confused when it comes to many things...first off with God. Does He exist?

What make you think that I know the answer to that question?

message 4: by Logan (new)

Logan | 10 comments I don't think anyone knows the correct answer. I wasn't asking you, but more over myself. But I also wanted to see what you would say to that comment. I think people say He's real, but they don't know for sure. With faith they do. But how does faith work? Sorry, I'm asking these questions more to myself than anyone else.

Logan | 10 comments That book, even though I read about a paragraph, helped me understand something as well. That book is interesting and I want to learn more about it.

Sandra Hernandez | 1 comments Pardon me for if I am being intrusive, I just believe that what most people call a religion is rather an organization that has laid out your philosiphies for you and the massess (people) agree in order to prevent personal thoughts. If you are unsure what to believe then you may rightfully call yourself agnostic. I reccommend to you to read and seek answers by exploring more than one belief. When part of a religion, people give up the responsibility to philosiphize for themselves. As far as faith, it is simply a term that answers why people continue in their religions without questioning. Some people need faith as they may otherwise be in despair, some people use it as a weapon to judge and attack different religions. It is an exciting time when you lurk for answers... I have a lot of reccomendations if you seek answers however, I think it would be wiser if you sought and discovered for yourself. Good Luck.

Priscilla Macias | 2 comments First, let me appoligize as my entry has nothing to do with how I see myself, so I am sorry that I'm taking this even more off topic. Anyway, in general I feel that there are patterns in the universe. For example, human beings are made up of cells that are made up of molecules that are made up of atoms, this is how I view the universe which is made up of galaxies which are made up of planets that have tiny human beings on them (or just one planet that we know of so far), that are comprised of cells...well you get the point. So anyway, everyone makes this big deal about the meaning of our own lives, but what if that is like the cell pondering the meaning of its life. A cell has a clear purpose, but the far more interesting picture isn't seen until you pan out a lot further. Are we all just kind of self-absorbed parasites thinking that the meaning of the universe revolves around the lives of humans, when really there could be more to it than just us. If you think about it, there are a lot of empty planets in our own galaxy, which leads me to believe that we are just a tiny part of an unconceivable greater machine (or greater purpose if you still want to feel important). I guess the fact that there are nothing but empty planets in our own galaxy makes me wonder what their purpose is. We think that the most important part of a galaxy is intelligent life, but if that were true why is it that only 1/9 planets have it. Perhaps we are just an anomoly or a byproduct of something more imporant and we're just lucky that our lives happen to fit in with our "host's" purpose. It's probably most likely that there are just some things in this reality that truly have no purpose and humans are just kind of organic material that happens to be more sophisticated than other types of material. However, I don't know if I buy that because even the most seemingly insignificant creatures on our own planet play an integral role to keeping it running. The fact that they found an earth-like planet in one of our neighboring galaxies really makes you wonder not what the meaning of our own life is, but really what's going on in the universe that is so freaking important that makes us almost insignificant. What are your guys' thoughts on the purpose of this "bigger picture"?

My thoughts on the, quote, 'bigger picture':
Priscilla,
I'm sure that there is a bigger picture, but I don't know what that may be...I doubt anyone fully knows the answer...so perhaps...instead of wasting all this time trying to figure out the unconceivable, instead we just try to be the best people we can, teaching others, being kind, and trying our to be our best possible selves while we have our lives ahead of us. What I've realized is that if there is a God, or if there isn't a God, either way we'll have no regrets because we lived the life we wanted to live. There can be no harm in that, I think.

message 10: by Logan (new)

Logan | 10 comments You know what? I'm going to have to agree with Kenzie. We should live our lives and try not to worry about anything else, or anyone for that matter. We should just live how we want to live, dream of what we can accomplish, and then follow the dreams we've set before us. And the "bigger picture". Don't worry about it, don't let it take over your life, you can wonder these things, I'm not saying you can't, but if learning about this "bigger picture" is something you truly want to do, then I say go for it, but just try to focus on what you really want out of life.

Priscilla Macias | 2 comments Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you guys. I definitely agree with Kenzie that regardless of the existence of God we should try to live to up to our own expectations. I was just letting my mind wander aloud I guess.

That's okay. I guess that's what this group is for.

message 13: by Logan (new)

Logan | 10 comments Yeah, and my mind was wondering aloud, too. I want to post a comment, because there hasn't been any comments in forever. But I think I've had self-realization. I know who I am, I know what I want to do, and most importantly, I know most the answers to my questions, except for religion, which is a very confusing topic...Anyway, sure I'll never know what to expect with the future, but I'll wander this world, searching for more answers, learning about what interests me, and finally discovering even more about the things that I hardly take any notice of. This world is amazing and has a lot to offer. I'm just going to go on adventures and see what life has to offer. That's what I've decided as my self-realization. Since this is the topic called "Self-Realization", I thought I'd share that, since I've come a long way, and the distance in my future and all those others' out there is even longer, but I'll be okay, if I just follow what I know I want, what I know I want to become, and maybe, the answers to my deepest and most secret questions can be revealed to me. It will just take time.

sounds great. I am a woman who future changes with the wind, but shall follow her passions until the well is run dry. My purpose is to ride the wind, to be free, and to find things and feel emotions I never knew I could.
