Elizabeth (Alaska) 20.7 Four-bagger - read a book from a tetralogy (Examples)

message 2: by Shannon SA (new)

Shannon SA (shannonsa) | 6 comments Hi Elizabeth, would The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle qualify as a book in a tetralogy?
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes.
Thank you.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Hi Shannon. Yes, any book that is one of a 4-part series will work. Please link to the wiki article when posting. Enjoy!

Rebekah (bekalynn) If it is a series that may or may not have more books added in the future, does that count?
I'm thinking of the new Robert Langdon book that is 4th in this series.
Inferno by Dan Brown

Liz M The fourth book in a series will not qualify. The series should be complete in four books.

message 7: by Liz M (new)

Liz M Sorry, should have said the fourth book in an _ongoing_ series. (phone doesn't allow edits)

Rebekah (bekalynn) got it. Well there wasn't a second letter "u" anyway. (smile)

message 9: by Bea (new)

Bea I am really having trouble with this task. Other than Wikipedia link above, how do I find any other series of only four books?

Elizabeth (Alaska) To find that list, I googled tetralogy. However, there are quite a few that come up as individual entries under a google search that are *not* on that list - although you might have to go to page 2 of the search. Not sure what sort of books might be of interest to you.

Thanks, Elizabeth.

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1728 comments The book that I am planning to read is advertised as a quartet The Day of the Scorpion. You might try looking for that designation too.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Gosh, Kathleen, just what I needed - 4 more books on my Wish List. ;-)

I also just put "tetralogy" into the Goodreads search box and got some results, so you could try that as well.

Bea I found several: Lonesome Dove Series (Larry McMurtry series of 4), The Bride Quartet (Nora Roberts), and The Giver Quartet (Lois Lowry).

Thanks for all the help, y'all.

Denise | 1830 comments I plan to read the first novel of Joyce Carol Oates's Wonderland Quartet.

5 Oldies points and combo with 20.4

Tien (tiensblurb) | 3115 comments I don't think this series was meant to be a four books series however the author passed away and so there are only four books. Can I use it for this task? The 4th book is the only one I haven't read ;)

Mistress of the Art of Death

Yes, Tien - go for it! Whether intentional or not, this series is complete in 4 books.

Tien, I love that series! Now I have several from which to choose!

Deana Pittman If you want a light read...Nora Roberts has the Bridal Quartet...four books about four different friends that go into the wedding business together. One is photographer, one is coordinator, one is florist, and the other is cake decorator, I think. Each one centers around one girl's romantic interest.
