Heidi I started reading this book eons ago. (I need to restart it) I got stuck on page 220 because I couldn't take his whining anymore. I couldn't take him being blown off and feeling miserable about it. When people complain about Twilight and Bellas whining I don't get it, because it was all internal and it wasn't very long. Though while most of the whining done by Ethan is internal, it does prattle on, and ON, AND ON! I'm on page 220 (I have an ebook) and hes STILL WHINING! Is it worth it to reread and trudge thru it? Can someone give me perspective? Is it worth it?

Renelle I agree about the whining, I just wanted to slap him! I did finish it though, needed to know if it got any better - it kind of does (but if you choose not to pick it up again you won't miss much). But I have been put off reading any more from this series, at least until I start craving that kind of teen angst.

Brittney This book is honestly the worst one of the series. It's one you really have to just suck it up and read, because I wanted to strangle Lena throughout most of it. However, Beautiful Chaos really makes up for it, so I really suggest you try to finish it. It gets painful, I know, but in my opinion, the latter half of the series really makes up for it.

I honestly found Ethan whiny at times as well in the second book (he was never my favorite character in the series and I've read all four books). Though in the fourth book, he gets really whiny in that book as well. But at least I give him this he at least does something about the situations than just mope around like Bella in New Moon.

Jolene This book was the worst one, but Beautiful Chaos was WAY better. Although, I thought the last one was a bit whiny too. :/ Read it if you have nothing else to read...

Heidi I appreciate everyones honesty! I think I might just get the audiobook and listen to it at work when I'm bored of listening to music. Thanks guys!

Christy Yeah Beautiful Chaos is ALOT better. You just have to tuff it through it.

Heidi So after looking back at what page I was on, 242 and its an ebook with only 370 pages, I'm just going to pick up where I left off. I'm not going to reread it all. I left where hes at his grandma type persons house in the attic and he touches stuff that brings some kind of mental link or story about Macon. I will just finish it. I may continue later with the series. But after realizing its pretty much the whole book where he's whining, I am disappointed.

Don't worry, Beautiful Chaos is so much better, it makes up for this one big time :)

Rachel Just push your way through the book. I told myself that this was just him PMS and was able to finish.

Maddie Tiare This book definitely suffered from Second Book Syndrome, it was not nearly as good as the first. Don't worry, though, the third one is better (if you can get there)

Although, I think they gave us a hint about the whining in the title. I mean "Beautiful Darkness" doesn't that just sound emo?

Mary I liked this one better than the first one.

janet i think out of the 4 books this is the worst one but the 1st and 3rd are my faves although his whining is a bit annoying i don't like to start something and not finish expecly if you got the book as a gift ........ from your mom .

Alyssa I thought he was being a Pussy. Lena clearly didn't want him around. But then again I also felt like he didn't care. He was more hurt about being dumped than missing her. That is the way I felt about it. But I'm not going to read the third part, I think. But not because of Ethan. Because of other characters.
