Galactic Ramble by Richard Morton Jack

I haven't read this book yet because I cant find it. In fact, according to Amazon.com it is out of print. But I'm interested in hearing from others who have read this or from the author himself - or from anyone who has an opinion on the book's subject matter.

So to start things off, I have these questions (anyone is free to answer, especially the author, Richard Morton Jack):

Q1: How do you compare UK music from the 60s to American music from that period? Which do you prefer? What are the major differences?

Q2: Why do you think the late 60s/early 70s were so ripe with good Rock music?

Q3: What is your prefered method of listening to music? Which format for instance?

Q4: Has the direct influence of the music of the 60s onto current music ended?

Q5: Who is the most underated musical artist of the 60s?

Ed Wagemann (edwagemann) | 1013 comments These are good questions. I'm not the author of Galactic Ramble obviously, but I honestly think a LOT of people don't take the time to listen to music nowdays. There are too many distractions, life is too fast paced, etc. So if most people arent really listening to music on a deep level, then what motivation is there for a musician to make something deep? And I say deep, just in the sense of putting a lot of thought into it.

This is just a generalization, and its just a part of the equation. Another part is that Rock music meant something different in the 60s than it does now.

Q2: Because unlike today, rock stars were discovered at the Marquee Club and not the Mickey Mouse Club and stardom was found through a rough combination of dues paying and genuine talent, not custody battles, smoke, mirrors, and wardrobe malfunctions.

Q5: Anyone who appears on:

Here's another one that is now hopelessly out of print that I should've jumped at when I had the chance:

Ed Wagemann (edwagemann) | 1013 comments When did that come out? I've never seen that one before.
I've always considered the Who's "You better you bet" the absolute epidome of Power Pop perfection, but the Flamin Groovies 'Shake some action' is just as awesome. I had a mixed tape as a teen that was pretty much a Power Pop greatest hits. It had 'My sharona' of course and "867-5309" and there was cheap trick's 'southern girls' and yes the Romantics 'what I like about you'. That song has been so overplayed though that I cant listen to it anymore.
