Browncoats discussion

Sometimes, while having a conversation, I find myself repeating some of my favorite Firefly/Serenity quotes. It causes people to give strange looks every now and then. Here are a few of my favorites:

Wash:
-"How did your brain even learn human speech?"
-"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar."
-"Hey I've been in a fire fight before. Well, I was in a fire. Actually, I was fired, from a fry cook opportunity." ( I say this one more than I'd like to admit. I just think its so funny.)
-"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal"

Jayne:
-"If wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak."
-"Sure would be nice if we had some GRENADES don't you think?"

Mal:
-"May have been the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one."
-"Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a plastic rocket."
-"Ship like this be with you til the day you die"

Zoe:
-"Remember that sex we were planning to have EVER again?"
-"She's torn up plenty but she'll fly true"

And...
"Gorramit" always comes out of my mouth, at the appropriate time, of course.

I think I got a little carried away there, so I'll stop. Anyone else have memorable quotes to share?

I use "Shiny" all the time. "Gorram" too, as a kind of substitute for damn. It feels cleaner, anyway:)

Wow, great list of quotes, Cindy! Thanks for sharing. I know some fans who also use some of the phrases in Chinese they've learned from the show. :)

Wash:
-"Some people juggle geese!"
-"Could you explain how Jayne got beat up by an 80 pound girl 'cuz I don't think that's ever getting old."

Jayne:
-"(in a sarcastic tone) This day keeps getting better and better."
-"I'll kill a man if their's money involved; or a woman; or if he tries to kill me; or if I think he's going to try to kill me; mostly if there's money. But eating people alive? Where does that get fun?"

River:
-"Two by two, hands of blue."
-"Don't go in the closet, it's greedy!"

Mal:
-"I aim to misbehave."
-"Ya, and I'd like to be the king of Olendini and where a shiny hat."

Kalee:
-Not speaking to you captain."

Simon:
-"you're like a trained ape, without the training!"

and finally, this quote is not by anyone in firefly, but from the boss lady in Doll House:
-"I could eat that word, or a crisp. Do you have any crisps?"(don't worry, if you haven't seen Doll House, The lady isn't that crazy, she's just on some mental drug by accident)

One of my favorite quotes is from the movie:

Mal: It ain't all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flyin' is? Well, I suppose you do, since you already know what I'm about to say.
River: I do. But I like to hear you say it.
Mal: Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. And love keeps her in the air when she oughtta fall down, tells ya she's hurtin' 'fore she keens, makes her a home.

That quote is very inspirational. Too bad that I didn't add that to my quotes.

Luann that is also one of my favorite quotes, I love it. I didn't add it either to my list, but because I wanted to see if any one else would share it :)

there are too many to list! I use alot of Firefly/Serenity quotes on my FB page status. Very few of us Browncoats around me these days, I fly alone...

Oh yes, Jayne's chain of command line was hilarious:

Luann, that's my favourite quote of all. I use it in my signature on some boards and never get tired of hearing it at the end of the movie.

Speaking of which the global event, Can't Stop The Serenity, where we get to see the movie again on a big screen, is coming up with most cities holding the events in June, some in July, August and September. Check the CSTS website to find a city near you http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com.

The other day one of my friends and I spent about an hour and a half IMing favourite scenes and quotes from Firefly and Serenity to each other. Considering there are only 17 hours in total, I think we covered almost everything! ;)

Thanks for the reminder about Can't Stop The Serenity, C.G.! I would LOVE to see Serenity on the big screen at least once!!

Yep, I think that's my all-time favorite quote from the movie. I love hearing Mal say it. Seeing it in text is just a pale imitation of the real thing.

I love all the quotes - it SOOOOO makes me just want to take a day (or two, or three) off and just sit and watch all the episodes and the movie and just ENJOY!

Oh well, sigh, the memory is there, and time is coming soon.

I've been wanting to rewatch Firefly as well, but I'm holding off until my next trip. It will be a perfect way to pass the time!

I'm watching The Message right now, in which River is having trouble eating her "ice planet" hanging from a stick. She stops, looks at it and says annoyed, "My food is problematic." Always makes me laugh.

I always loved that line, too. Coming at the end like it did, I probably read into it more than I should, but I felt like it was Joss talking to the fans, too. Like if you love a show enough, even if it gets canceled, you can get a movie made and meet other Browncoats online and keep it flying.

Everybody listed most of my favs. So I'll just had Jaynes's "I'll be in my bunk." I always fall out of my chair laughing when I hear him say that one.

The one I love to pull out during conversations when people say "You think you're smarter/better/something than people-"

Mal: "Only the ones I'm better than."

Such a perfect line. That and "Some people juggle geese!"
And "She was all NAKED and ARTICULATE!"

Oh, probably my favorite Wash quotes is his first scene with the dinosaurs: "AH! Curse your sudden by inevitable betrayal!"
"Ha ha ha: mine is an evil laugh!"

I've used the "Some people juggle geese" line in a few conversations. Got weird looks from non-Browncoats. and used "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" as well, even the non-Browncoats laugh at that one. (of course depends on what sort of a context you use it in)
