Starrlight Upon arriving at the wishing well, Diane sat on the edge of the stone well. She peered into the dark depths, wondering if she should toss a coin down there like some child, or just face reality like an adult? After pondering this for a few minutes, Diane pulled out a coin from her small coin purse, closed her eyes and flipped a coin into the well. When she heard the splash, she let out a small breath of air and quickly put her coin purse away.

'I'm such a child . . .'

Instead of leaving right away, Diane stayed seated on the edge of the stone well, not caring much for the looks her way. She was a Royal Guard so there shouldn't be so many strange looks, but then again she was a little different from most Guards. She was what as most people say peculiar, though that was putting it lightly. Diane was surely a force to reckon with seeing how she was very unpredictable. Sure now she was lounging around calmly by the well, but later on who knows what she might do.

Seeing Diane, Dashton found the opportunity too hard to resist. What better chance was he going to get to push a fellow guard member down a well? Just kidding. He didn't want her to fall down there, who knew what disgusting things lurked in that disgusting underground pit. He just wanted to scare her a little bit, at least make her jump...

"What'd you wish for?" he asked, leaning into her. Not enough to push her over the age, but just enough so she was incredibly aware of his presence. That's just the kind of personality Dash had. He liked his presence being known, that's what had gotten him into the guard permanently in the first place--he was a sucker for attention. Which is why he messed with Diane, he knew her from the guard. They were... acquaintances?

Starrlight Diane blinked in surprise, leaning back when a face suddenly loomed a little too close to hers. Immediately she recognized Dash's voice, which made her smile and cringe at the same time. She knew him because they were both Guards, but she never spent much time with him in the outside world; though this doesn't mean she hates the guy, she just has a lot to learn about him. One thing she already knew though was his need for attention. It was understandable, she enjoyed being noticed, except when it came to Diane, it never took a lot to get her noticed.

"Lean into me anymore, and I'll fall Dash," she stated matter-of-factly. Then she grabbed him by the front of his shirt and held on tightly, a small smile on her lips. "I fall, you fall with me. Although that might be fun. Wanna try it." Just to psyche him out, she leaned back a little more as if she was serious before letting him go and sitting up properly, still right on the edge. "If I tell you that, it won't come true, now will it?"

So she did know his name, before pretty much pulling a move on her--Dash had been unsure. That was just the way it worked in the guard, you knew the people who you knew before--no one else. The elders weren't exactly all that into class-bonding time... funny enough. He took the chance, since he was already leaning over her, to glance down the well himself. Yeah, that didn't look very inviting, he couldn't imagine why Diane would willingly sit on the edge of her possible death.

"Pull me any farther and I'll push you before you get the chance." he retorted, grabbing the hand that held his shirt. Dash met her eyes briefly as she forced him closer, and he couldn't help but feel a small amount of intimacy in the action. Yeah, that wasn't exactly the emotion he'd expected to surface. Terror, amusement, fear... sure, but not intimacy. "If you fall, I fall on top of you. Wanna' try it?" he retaliated yet again, not letting his thoughts show on his face what so ever.

When she released him, Dash took his time situating himself on the well sitting beside her, careful not to loom to close. He didn't trust the structure as much as she seemed to, of course that paranoia could stem from the fact that he couldn't swim. He gave her a sympathetic smile, "Are you having boy problems? I could help, Diane. I care more about your romantic life than the well." His tone couldn't have been more mocking.

Starrlight Diane has heard plenty of Dash and seen him around as well, so it wasn't hard to remember his name. Then again she was cursed with a good memory so it shouldn't be a surprise she knew his name; plus, he was sort of hard to miss. There weren't many like Dash around, though he sort of reminded Diane of her twin brother, who she hasn't spoken to in a few days now. With that thought in mind, she glanced into the well, but quickly returned her attention over to Dash.

"I prefer being on top, but maybe another time." Was it bad she has no shame? It was common knowledge that the girl with the wild brown hair has little to no filter between her brain and mouth, often saying whatever came to mind. Not many liked this about Diane, but she hardly cared enough to change that bad habit of hers. She was who she was, no one - not even her twin - would be able to change that. And Diane didn't want to change. "I also prefer falling back onto a bed instead of cold dirty water at the bottom of some well."

Yet there she was, sitting dangerously close to the edge, tempting fate as usual. Diane smiled over at Dash when he took a seat beside her, surprised he did so, but decided not to comment on it. Instead she laughed. "Yes, I can tell you care a lot about my love life, Dash. However, I do not have a love life. Guys find it hard to love a girl like me." It was true, not many guys knew how to handle Diane, which made her believe she was doomed to the life of a spinster. "Actually, guys have a hard time handling me. Maybe I am having boy problems. . . . But a better love life isn't what I wished for, in case you were still wondering."

That was one of those moments when if one had been drinking a liquid, they would have spit it out on the spot. She was pulling innuendos out of her back pocket like they were candy apples begging to be eaten. Whereas some people wouldn't consider it lady like, or some other ridiculous thing like that, Dashton found it oddly comforting. He kinda' felt like maybe, just maybe, he could be himself around her. Since she obviously wasn't hiding anything about her personal habits. Or sexual preferences.

"Damn, I guess we're not destined to be together." he sighed, meeting her eyes--noticing for the first time the purple flecks inside her irises. Dash leaned closer, lowering his voice so only her ears would pick up the tone. "See, I just don't do bottom... but hey, maybe for you, I could make an exception." he chuckled darkly, moving back out of her personal space. Of course he wasn't serious. Dash was incredibly inexperience in that area of uhm... expertise? His parents had always been advocates of the arranged marriage, no other relationships thing...

Dash almost voiced aloud his question, but he kept it under wraps. Why would guys find that hard? He looked down into the darkness of the well instead for a distraction, barely able to make out the churning water below. "Sounds to me like you should just expand your horizons." he remarked, a hint of a smile tilting his lips. "Unless you want to die alone, that is."

message 8: by Starrlight (new)

Starrlight Seeing how Diane basically grew up without a father, and her mother was currently too ill to do much on her own anymore, she wasn't exactly being forced into an arranged marriage anytime soon. It would possibly be the only way to get her to be with a guy, but at the same time Diane wasn't looking for relationship, even a forced one. It wasn't as if she was going to rebel, but just guys weren't easy to trust were they? Her brother was the only "good guy" she knew so far. And there she goes, thinking about him again. Maybe it was time to see what he was up to again.

Or maybe not. "Damn, and here I thought we would be great together." Diane paused, her eyes not straying from his for a solid minute. "In bed." She wasn't being serious, but it was fun to play along. This was what she needed, a little time to just mess around for a change without having to worry about her brother or her mother, or anything else for that matter. "Though it could be fun, a power struggle in bed. Someone always trying to be on top. I wonder what that's like." Diane trailed, looking as if she was actually considering it. Despite her sexual innuendos and whatnot, Diane didn't actually have much "experience" in bed, or any at all. She grew up around farmers, many of them having spoken without thinking around her, so she picked up a few things along the way.

Looking ahead now, Diane shrugged at his words. "Perhaps I should, though I don't know just how much more I can expand it seeing how I'm not picky when it comes to guys. Perhaps love just isn't in my future. Maybe I am destined to die alone." To keep the mood light, Diane chuckled softly before dramatically saying, "Oh woe is me. I will grow up all alone and die like so."

"Diane, I think we'd be good together in a lot of places... positions... beds..." he smirked, almost tacking on Practice makes perfect. Perfect practices makes perfect performance.

Instead, he simply stood, running a hand through his hair with the action. He hadn't meant to stay when he came over here. He was on his way back home to check in with his dad, and he had only meant to stop for a second to mess with Diane. A second had turned into about ten minutes of talking with her... now he'd have to run home just to make it on time. How nice. Actually, it was nice. He was considering the idea that it was pretty much worth it--running wasn't even that hard, it was only two miles. No biggy.

"As lovely as this was, and trust me, it was--I have to go. My presence is requested elsewhere." he spoke up, inclining his head in mock sadness. Though on some level he was sad to go so soon, he felt as if all he would be missing was easy banter with much more innuendos. If that's all he wanted, he could find it elsewhere... and that was all he wanted, right? If he even wanted that. Diane had sort of pulled that trick out of herself at whim. "I'll see you around though, yah?" he asked, stepping backwards.

Starrlight "I agree." And that was all she said, leaving it there with a smirk playing around on her lips and a mischievous glint in those dark blue eyes of hers.

When he stood, Diane decided that maybe it was time to go finally check in on her mother for a change. It would be a long walk, but maybe something would happen on the way there . . . Looking back at Dash, she sighed, "You are hard to miss, Dash." She stood up as well, brushing some imaginary dust off her clothes before look back at him. "Auf Wiedersehen, Dash. Maybe I should request your presence for a later time to ensure to see you again."

Not a date. Not. A. Date. Diane was being . . . Diane. Plus, she was interested in Dash now, he was different and she found herself wanting to know a little more about him. This in itself was strange for her since she never took interest in many people around her. Now it wasn't in a romantic way, she was just curious about is all. Was there anything past the teasing and the sexual innuendos? Only time would tell. 'Wow, did I really just think that?' She took a step in the other direction, away from Dash.
