Adena Wright (adenaw) Layla came out of her small office at the back of the store. Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun, her hands were smudged with ink and her whole appearance was just a little disheveled. She sighed wearily, handed over a couple of designs to one of the seamstresses and was about to head back into her office when she saw David standing awkwardly over by the door. Layla visibly brightened when she saw him, her tired expression changing to a smile. "Hey, I'm so glad you came! Here, I just have a few things to finish up, it shouldn't take more than ten minutes," she took one of his hands and pulled him into her office. There was a desk with large pieces of white paper scattered around and various writing utensils in ceramic holders. Layla sat down behind the desk and gestured towards the other chair. "Take a seat. I'm almost done with this design," she said, picking up a pencil and adding a few things to her sketch.

Adena Wright (adenaw) Layla was focused on her design and didn't answer him for a few seconds. "No, it's fine really. Things have been kind of hectic today, we got a lot of orders, but I managed to get most of my work done. I was just about to finish up and leave when you got here," she said, not looking up as she worked. A few strands of bright red hair fell over her eyes and she blew them impatiently out of the way. After a few more minutes of silence and intense scribbling, Layla set her pencil down. She picked up the paper and admired her work before showing it to David. "What do you think?" she asked. It was a large one-shouldered ballgown with a lace trim and ruging on the skirt. She doubted he would have anything helpful to say, but she was proud of the design and wanted him to be the first one to see it.

Adena Wright (adenaw) Layla laughed. "Yes, it's a ballgown," she said, standing up and patting him on the shoulder. "And thanks," she added with a smile. She lead him out of the office and left the completed sketch on the seamstress's desk. "Okay, I'm ready to go now," she as said, grabbing her coat. "Where to?" she asked.

Layla didn't really care where they went, she was just looking forward to spending some time with David. They were both off of work and there was no reason to rush. they could relax and take as much time as they wanted. She slipped her arm through his as they walked out of the tailoring parlor. "Lead the way."

Adena Wright (adenaw) Layla shrugged. "Not in particular," she admitted. She hadn't really thought ahead very much, which was a common problem for her. Making plans and sticking to them wasn't exactly her strong suit. She sighed. "I've been cooped up inside all day, how about we just take a walk? Willow road or the trail in the forest?" she asked. "I'm not very hungry now, but we could come back to town later to get something to eat." Layla wasn't suggesting a formal dinner, because she could guess how David would feel about that. Structure wasn't a necessity for her and she their relationship was already strange enough without making him feel uncomfortable. It occurred to her that slipping her arm through his might have already made him sufficiently uncomfortable, but it would be even more awkward if she pulled away now.

"So, how was your day?" Layla asked as they stepped out of the shop and into the fresh air. She hoped he was in a good mood, she never knew quite what to say when he wasn't. She wanted to help, but never really succeeded. "I hope work wasn't too stressful."
