~RP~ (A connection to the laundry mat)

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ After the whole maze incident, Rosette returned home and changed. She washed up, since she was obviously covered in sweat and her feet were caked in dirt, but apparently after washing up Rose was needed to go elsewhere instead of being allowed to relax the rest of the day. Unhappily, Rosette put on a new dress and pulled on new slippers before leaving home and walking over to the clothing lines. Her father told her that they sent their servant there to gather clothes but the girl hasn't returned as of yet, and her father wasn't a patient man. Instead of sending of going himself, Rosette was sent to handle the task. So there she was, walking towards the clothing lines, even though it was the last thing she wanted to do, and who else would she see but that arrogant jerk from earlier. Worst part, she happened to walk in on him while he was flirting with the servant, the same servant that worked for her family. "Oh Emily, really? You're flirting with the likes of him? You can do so much better." Rosette cut in, not caring if she interrupted their little moment or whatever. The last thing her family needed was a knocked up servant anyways, so she was technically stopping something bad from happening.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Rosette's jaw dropped at his first comment. She was going to tell Emily that he spoke nonsense, but the girl was already running off. So instead, she turned to Colt, jaw tight and hands balled up into fists. "How dare you say that in front of her? Now she's going to go spreading rumors about me being in love with some jerk! I am engaged. You can't just say something like that about me even if you are joking. Have you no manners?" She didn't even care that she just ruined his chances with Emily, in fact she was happy to do so; Rosette was thinking about going around and warning every single girl she met to stay away from a guy like him. "Oh, I can't believe you! How dare you? You know what, I should slap you for saying something like that." Rosette was so very close to doing something like that, but she knew she shouldn't, but oh how she wanted to. "I'm sorry, I ruined your day? Please forgive me, sir. Tell me, what shall I do to make it all better again?" Not only was she shouting now, but her tone of voice was absolutely dripping with sarcasm.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ "It's not him I'm worried about, it's everyone else," Rosette snapped. Clearly this was a big deal to her, and she wasn't going to just calm down. What was wrong with this guy? She certainly met many careless men over the years, but this one surely beat all of them. What was she going to do? Obviously the servant girl was going to tell everyone she knew, possibly out of spite because even the servant girl knew better that Rosette wouldn't do such a thing. Nonetheless, it would travel back to her father, and it really won't make him happy to hear a rumor concerning the integrity of his daughter. The thought alone was enough to make her feel faint. "What would you understand? You seem to enjoy you're reputation as a lowlife, as nothing more than a man that chases after every and any woman that gives you the time of day. But that gives you no reason to drag me down with you." At the mention of the maze, she narrowed her eyes on him. "One good deed doesn't cancel out all the bad you've done today. It surely doesn't cancel this one out." When he invited her to slap him, well what do you expect? Rosette raised her hand and gave him one good smack right across the cheek. It was probably hard enough to leave a nice good red mark. "I promise you, anytime I see you, I'll warn every girl about how you're nothing but a lecher. That surely keep many women away from you!"

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ "I care! My father cares! Unlike you, I have a respectable image to hold up. I can't be seen as the girl who runs off with some guy when she's about to be married. I might not love the man I am marrying like I am supposed to, but I do not wish to bring shame or dishonor to him, his family, or my family. You might not care what people think of you, but I care. But what would you understand of honor? You have none. You don't even have self-respect, what with you whoring around town with any woman you please." Even though he said he wasn't a whore, to Rosette, he was one. After all, it was easy to tell that he's been with more than one women in the past; moreover, he even admitted to it. That in her eyes made him nothing more than just that, a whore. "Harmless flirting my ass. There's no such thing as harmless flirting around here. Of course, if you have a death wish, flirt all you want. It's about time some girl's father shoots you for your actions. I bet all you do is lead girls on, screw them over, and then hang them out to dry without even looking back to see how she's doing." Rosette could only imagine the trail of broken hearts that led right to him. Shaking her head, she looked away from him, wishing she never met him in the first place.

"You disgust me." Rosette turned her eyes back to him. "Tell me you weren't about screw that servant girl right now. How many more have you screwed over the years?" How was this guy still alive? Someone would have hanged him by now, especially if he was bedding married women. "Wait, you don't think what you're doing is wrong? Don't you see the error in your ways? Don't you want to just be with one girl, have an actual special connection with someone?" Rosette frowned at him, not understanding how he could just do what he did without understanding the consequences. She feared for the girl he would have to marry if he were to ever enter upon an arranged marriage. "I would rather share a unique experience with a man, than be with a man who doesn't value any of his past experiences."

(that sucked so bad Dx i'm so sorry. it was better when i first typed it x.x)

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ "As a matter of fact I do." Rosette narrowed her eyes on Colt. "I don't need to wake up early, but I do just to see the sun rise over the horizon because life is too short to be wasting it away in bed. A few times a week I take my sister down to the strawberry field even though she stains her stupid dress every single time we go there. Sometimes I sneak out with my friend when it's too late to be out, but we go to our secret little spot in the forest and just talk under the moonlight. So don't tell me I don't know how to enjoy life, or take pleasures in the little things, because I do." For a second, the thought of her younger brother came to mind, but she swatted that away. "But at the same time, I have an image to keep up, a reputation to uphold. My little sister looks up to me, I set an example for her. What am I teaching her if I run away from my duties, or run away from a marriage I do not even want? I have to make sure everyone respects me, and sees me as the lady I am supposed to be. Not that you would understand."

"Fine, if I know nothing of honor, then tell what it is. What is honor to you? Chasing after skirts, losing yourself in one drink after another? Tell me what honor is when there is nothing honorable in the way you live." This guy was spewing nothing but bullshit. Honor? Rosette wanted to slap him again, this time she hoped she would slap some sense into him. What would he possibly know of honor? She certainly held no respect for him, and she doubted many did. Maybe she didn't know him and was judging him rashly, but what did he expect? Colt was only showing one side to her, and it was a side that made her coil in disgust. "So you're telling me you get to know them? You can just sit down and talk to them without wanting something more from them? When was the last time you just sat down with a girl and spoke to her? Got to know her? Maybe even befriended her without any intentions of getting into her bed?" Rosette shook her head, sighing tiredly as this argument was taking a lot out of her.

This was starting to get on her last nerve, this guy was starting to get on her last nerve. "I care because that girl is my servant. She works for my family, and as stupid as it sounds, I don't want her to get hurt. A woman does not deserve to be treated like some sort of play thing, something just to keep you amused," she spat. "Somehow I doubt that any woman would invite you to her house just for some rum, cheese, and a nice conversation. You hardly are someone to have a nice conversation with." And just when she was about to leave, she yelped out in surprise when he grabbed her by the arms. Eyes wide as she looked up at him. Perhaps she should have left earlier, yet as he spoke, Rose frowned at him. "People leave. It's how life works! You don't just turn into some big asshole just because people start leaving you. And you don't grab people either." Her skin was on fire, or felt like it was on fire where he held her. It hurt, but she tried not to show it on her face, sticking with scowling at him as she tried to tug free of his grip. Rose growled, "Don't touch me."

Rosette's older brother left when he joined the Royal Guard, and then her younger brother left too. There were many holes in her heart, but Rosette managed to patch them up because there was so much more in life to live for. There was no point in letting something like that stop her, or change her into some unlikable human being. No, she still has her sister, Rosette needed to stay strong for her. Dani was all she has left anymore. "You can't run from your past. You gain nothing from doing so," she said, taking a few steps back once he let her go. She rubbed her arms, trying to stay strong against him. "The past will catch up with you eventually. There's no point in acting as if it's not there, as if it doesn't matter." Once again Rosette shook her head and looked away. Now all she wanted to do was run away from Colt, but she felt this strange tug towards him, as if a part of her wanted to stay, which was insane because she couldn't stand him.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ What on earth was he talking about? Love? Aside from loving a friend and family, Rosette hadn't a clue what he was blabbering on about. He wasn't even making sense. In this society, one married within ones class, that was it. End of story. If the person happened to love the person they were arranged to marry, then all was well. If not? Well too bad. There was nothing to be done about it. If someone were to fall in love with someone from another class, forget about it. It was basically illegal. At least that was what Rosette's parents told her, and that was how she was raised. The more he talked, the more Rose grew frustrated, and when she was frustrated, she tended to cry. Not because she was sad or thought she was losing an argument, but because her anger hit an all time high. Yeah that didn't really explain, but it was tears of frustrations.

So, what did she do? Well, Rosette turned around and just sat on the ground. Yep. That was what she did. Why? Old habits die hard. Ever since Rose was young, whenever she would get in a heated argument with her father, or was throwing a tantrum, she would turn around and sit on the ground for a really long time, never caring if her dress got dirty in the process or if she was in someone's way. Rose would just sit until she was no longer angry, but in a better mood before getting up and going elsewhere. It was a strange thing, and her parents have tried to get her to stop, but she just wouldn't. Eventually her parents decided it was a good way for her to meditate on things, but really it was their only way of explaining their daughter's strange habit.

Okay, so maybe Colt wasn't as bad as he looked, but this only made Rosette's mood worse. She knew she judged people harshly, but she was the daughter of a merchant, she grew up dealing with shady men all her life that it was hard now to tell which were actually bad and which were good anymore. So hard that she simply assumed all men were bad. Not a very good way to go through life, was it? Yeah no. Nonetheless, Rosette wasn't going to let him win this . . . whatever this was. Fight, yeah it was a fight. Rosette paused when she felt something wet trail down her cheek. Great, now she was already crying. Burying her face in her hands, even though she was sure he couldn't see her nor would he even care, she tried to keep more tears from spilling forth. This boy was really something!

Here he goes, accusing her of being judgment, how she wouldn't know anything about him unless she spent an entire day with him - Rosette would rather die than do something like that - but he didn't know a damn thing about her either. Looks like they were both in the same, a thought she really didn't like. Just imagine, Rosette stuck on a boat with Colt for a whole day, she would probably throw herself overboard to drown than allow something like that to happen. Better yet, she would throw him overboard and hold his head under water. Nope, that's just a little too sadistic even for me. Rosette sighed, still sitting on the ground with her face buried in her hands, though she let her hands drop into her lap, shrugging off all his words about honor and the girls he's been with; Colt could be blue in the face with trying to convince her he was a good guy, but she wouldn't believe any of it. Moreover, Rosette was growing too tired by repeating her point over and over.

He was right though, people don't always leave by choice. Her younger brother hadn't, but that wasn't something she wanted to think about. At the thought of him, her hand went to the small pendent that hung around her neck. It was a small thing that was blue and shaped like a butterfly. Rosette loved butterflies, her brother had known that, so on her sixteenth birthday he had bought her this very necklace. Her fingers were familiar with the shape, the smooth texture of the metal it had been made out of, and while it was light in weight, whenever she wore it had felt like a weight that constantly reminded her of what she had lost. Swallowing hard, she shook her head. "No, people don't leave by choice, but that doesn't matter. People are always leaving, but you don't run away and act like everything is okay, because it's not. Running is the coward's way out. . . Are you a coward, Colt?"

(;-; omg i'm sooooooo sorry, i rambled so much)

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ (xD if you say so)

"I see . . . that's a shame." Rosette wished he would just go away already. Why had he wiped away her tears? It was worse that he called her pretty because it made her feel . . . strange. A feeling she quickly pushed to the side, refusing to let him get to her. Nope, she knew better than to let her guard down, especially around a guy she just met. "You're an odd one," she mumbled. Sitting up straight, Rose raised her eyes up to Colt when he stood up again. "Back in the maze you basically said I wasn't pretty, now you're saying I'm too pretty. So which is it?" Why was she even asking. Hoping he wouldn't answer that, Rosette changed topic as quickly as possible. "And I can cry if I want to, not that I was actually crying. . . I was just frustrated." Yeah that was a better thing to talk about. Not even she knew how to explain it to him. Too tired to do it anyways, she shrugged. Technically she should be heading home, but Rose was starting to get a little too comfortable from her spot on the ground. Maybe she would even lie down for a little while. No, she couldn't do that. The servants that were still there would see her and then more rumors would spread. That was the last thing she needed. At the mention of him leaving, Rosette sighed. "Leaving already? That's too bad. I thought we could talk some more. I think we're very close to being the best of friends." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm, obviously. As if she would want Colt to stick around any longer than he needed to.

Letting the butterfly charm slip out of her fingers, Rosette looked down at her dress to inspect just how dirty it was. Oddly enough, she never minded dirt, but people wouldn't think that with the way she acted. "My mother won't be happy about this," she mumbled mainly to herself. Rosette shrugged, starting to get up since she would need to start heading home soon.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ (XD OKAY FINE because it is LAW)

Back up on her feet, Rosette would have said something about his last comment, but she was a little too worn out to do anything of the sort. "Goodbye," was all she said, and she was going to leave it at just that. Yet just as she was about to walk away, a thought suddenly occurred to her. It was a stupid thought, but at the same time it could turn out to be interesting. Maybe not. No, it was a pretty bad idea. What was she even thinking? Why was she thinking about this? Why was she turning back around and walking after Colt? "I'm not even going to bother saying something about your last snide comment. However, I have a proposition for you," she said quickly, walking after him but only stopping when she reached his side.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Rosette was already regretting this and she hadn't even said anything at first. However, she sucked in a deep breath of air before looking back up at Colt confidently. Maybe this wouldn't work out in the end, maybe he wouldn't even agree, but there was no harm in at least saying her idea. "You said that I know nothing about you, and probably never would unless I spent a day with you. Well, you don't know a thing about me either. We both judged each other rather rashly, which is wrong, not that I'm actually apologizing for what I said. Anyways, getting back to my point, I propose that perhaps we should spend two days together. One day I will see exactly what a day in the life of Colt is like, and in return you will see what a day in my life is like." And then she stopped talking, but did her best no to fidget uncomfortably where she stood. It was too late to take back her words now, so all she could do was wait to hear what he said. "What do you say?"

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ He agreed. Rose somehow wasn't surprised that he agreed to it. Great, what did she get herself into? Well, it would be interesting to see him to fit in with her lifestyle, though the thought horrified her as well. "Technically I've seen enough of you in one day to last me a lifetime," she replied, "but the sooner we get over with this the better. So how about we get this agreement started tomorrow? Unless you have plans with some other girl." Yeah, Rosette couldn't help but be a little snarky towards him even now.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ "I'm twenty one years old, I am not little. You know my name is Rosette." She narrowed her eyes on him, but took a deep breath of air to calm herself down. She really needed to stop getting so worked up over him. She wouldn't even bite back at his snarky comment. "Yeah you do that." Okay, a small bite. Nothing big. "Fine, tomorrow at the Apple Orchard. Bright and early. Got it. Am I supposed to wear anything? Bring anything?" She asked, wanting to make sure before she got there. Waking up early wouldn't be a problem for her, Rosette was always up earlier than most of her family.

✯✯ᔕTᗩᖇᖇᒪIᘜᕼT✯✯ Rosette looked down at her dress and frowned. She didn't have anything aside from dresses, unless she borrowed her brother's old clothes, but even that made her wrinkle her nose in distaste. Turning her gaze back to Colt, she sighed, giving in to that one demand. After all, when he spent the day with her, she would have to make him wear something . . . decent. "Fine, no dress. I'll borrow my older brother's old clothes," she mumbled, obviously not happy about it. "Oh, don't worry, my lovely personality will be just extra lovely tomorrow just for you." So tempting to stick her tongue out at him, but that would be childish. Shaking her head, Rosette finally turned to leave again. "As there is nothing left to say, I'll take my leave now. See tomorrow, Colt." Then she walked off, not looking back at Colt, or she kept telling herself not to look back at him. . . Rosette glanced back, but quickly looked forward again. Hopefully neither would kill each other by the end of the day.
