Iolanthe couldn't help but sigh at the mention of her parent's decision to start the search for her future husband. "This is my first marriage interview, and quite honestly I do not believe my father would care if you were a madman. Rather, now he seems desperate to marry me off to the first eligible bachelor that comes along. Mother, on the other hand, does care, but I think she likes you for one reason or another," she explained rather glumly. "As for what I did for my father to take on such a opinion, I am afraid I am clueless, unless being twenty and not wishing to be tied down by marriage is a crime."
Upon arriving and understanding his unspoken question she didn't answer, but rather pulled out a key from the hidden pocket she insisted be tailored into her dress. Technically speaking, the Planetarium itself was closed today, only the exhibits being open, as they almost constantly were. However, Iolanthe had worked at the planetarium when she was younger for a few years, and had always been a devoted visitor. Therefore, the manager had long given her the key the room should she ever wish to watch something on her own time. Once within the spacious chamber she approached the controls, dimming the light and turning on her favorite show, the one about the lives of stars. Whenever she watched it she found herself reminded of why she'd always dreamed of being an astronomer: The utter beauty of space, and how stars even managed to die with grace.
"I cannot say I have memorized the show that accompanies this, but the pictures are lovely," Iolanthe apologized, though she got the feeling that with his talkative habits, he'd likely fill the air that was supposed to be full of facts and explanations with his own words. Quite honestly, she wouldn't mind too much either. It wasn't as if he was wasting her time, as she found him quite fascinating. She was willing to bet anyone who knew eve the slightest psychology would though. She personally had inherited a bit of an interest for the subject from her mother, who adored it. However, in addition to merely being curious to observe, Cornel was also fun to be around, in a peculiar way.

For a moment Cornel's mind wandered to all the wonderful aspects of people and what they did and how they were all so unique and the thought processes so different. Just for a moment though and then he came back to the present to find that there were diagrams and all sorts of pictures of space. Looking at them for a moment he paused and then looked over at Iolanthe. She seemed mesmerized by the pictures. No doubt she had a fascination for space. "Did you know that people are composed of the same parts as stars?" He asked curiously looking at her with a sort of curious expression. He really just wanted to see her reaction. "You are made of the same stuff as those......glowing things in the sky so far away from where we are right now. Kinda makes you a star in your own way." Huh. So if she studied stars and he studied people. It was almost the same sort of thing. Funny, wasn't it?
[ugggghhh really crappy post Dx Sorry~]

"Hmmm... I guess we are, though I never really thought about it that way. The universe really is a wondrous thing, is it not?" Iolanthe asked him, her features displaying a smile that seemed to display the best in her, as it was far more genuine than the slightly forced one she'd worn at when she'd first entered the museum. Turning to face him, the images of nebulae reflected in her eyes, blending into the violet of her iris. "Perhaps that is what my mother was thinking of when she insisted my name be Estelle, that we one with the stars, as well as the rest of the universe. I think my father has given up on dreams though, as well as the stars, and he something far simpler for my first name," Iolanthe continued, her voice sounding rather melancholic at the mention of her father and his ways. She could tell he loved her, and that he too, once believe in the power of dreams. However, it seemed that now facts dominated his life. She still remembered her childhood though, and therefore still remembered his laugh, as well as his true smile, that one she hadn't seen in a while now.
On the other hand, Iolanthe couldn't help but feel slightly curious about Cornel's parents. The Lichen's reminded her slightly of her father, but somehow it seemed that their emotions were buried deeper than even his. In fact, when she first walked in the room, she actually couldn't help but wonder if temperature had suddenly dropped a couple degrees, as though their very presence's chilled the surrounding area. As a contrast, Cornel was engaging, kept you thinking, and seemed to keep most of his emotions on display.
(I feel like that ended abruptly, but I'm not quite sure what to say.)

Cornel nodded, "It is. I prefer to remain a bit more grounded. Too much out in the universe and we haven't even learned all we can right here." By we he obviously meant humankind and not the royal we or him and Iolanthe. Of course they still had more to learn, this time him and Iolanthe. "Your mother insisted your name be Estelle? My parents named me after a plant. It's an ugly thing too. I prefer that Cornel is short for Cornelius. At least Cornelius is an interesting name." Smiling slightly he rose a brow as he looked at the stars and other blobs of space as he listened to her. "Your father seems a bit more like my parents. They aren't very entertaining. Highly embarrassing actually. I mean all my father cares about is being a doctor and predicting his experiments. I was an experiment. Wanted to see if I would turn out like he predicted. I did. All except for my eyes," Tapping the side of his face right by his eyes he smiled a bit, "And my personality. Still has no idea where that comes from. My mother doesn't get it either. She prefers all sorts of facts. Still she thinks I'm interesting. Finds my psychological ways of thinking a bit fascinating." Shrugging his shoulders Cornel had moved while talking, walking around the planetarium and looking about as he moved.
"My parents are highly boring though. Nothing interesting for fun about them. I'm sorry you had to deal with their presence. Sorry about your parents having to talk to them." Oh don't mistake, Cornel. He loved his parents. He just found them all sorts of uninteresting. And while his parents always apologized for their sons eccentric-ness. Cornel was always apologizing for how boring his parents were. Iolanthe on the other hand seemed to have a more normal relationship with her parents. At least as normal as any other intellects relationship, anyway.

Iolanthe considered this for a moment, recalling some botany books she'd read some time ago. "The cornel flower? I guess it is not the loveliest in the garden, nor the most sweet smelling, but I think in a way, it is a nice break from the rest that put far too much effort into standing out," she that said thoughtfully. In a way she supposed it made sense that he was named for a flower different from all the rest, for he himself most certainly was unique. His situation with his parents though... That seemed beyond peculiar to her. Sure, she and her parents weren't exactly the best of friends right now, but she still loved them, but Lichens. They seemed to merely like each other at best.
"I am sure my father will feel right at home with them, he is a bit of a workaholic, in case you have not heard. Mother... She will manage, likely by finding on reason or another to excuse herself," Iolanthe shrugged, after a few seconds of thinking over their earlier actions. "Anyways, I am sure your parents are not that boring. Sure, they seem a bit cold and bland, but they also seem to be rather intelligent people. It is not as if they are nobles, who neither are neither pleasant to be around, nor notably knowledgeable of anything other than perhaps gossip," she continued, think back to that meeting she'd had with her mother's sister when she was much younger. The woman held her nose so high in the air, it was a wonder that she saw where she was going, and she was so ditsy Iolanthe found it simply irritating. Since then, she'd understood her mother's decision to attempt to ignore that part of her heritage, and did the same.
(Not exactly my greatest post... Btw though, where exactly in the room is Cornel?)

"Oh my parents are highly boring." Shrugging his shoulders he didn't feel bothered by it. And as a result he gestured about the room clearing his throat slightly, "So..." Trailing off he stopped his insistent walking and then looked at her and raised a brow in curiosity. "What sort of astrological facts can you divulge to me?" Cornel was always the kind of guy who was eager to learn and well.....standing here he wanted to know all that he could about the star images that were around the planetarium. What good was an astrologist after all if they didn't help you learn. Oh yes that might've been a bit rude. But Iolanthe would have no idea he was thinking of her as nothing more than an astrologist. He just wasn't an entirely romantic guy. He'd experimented with romance of course. Wanting to see how people reacted to flirting and what not. He just didn't think of it as naturally as he should've. So this was just a marriage interview and she was just an astrologist. That was all that all this boiled down to in his mind.
[sorry xD Short posts cause I'm ghosting xD]

Iolanthe was about to answer him when the door opened to reveal Cimorene Latimer, glimmering white curls and all. "We missed you at the museum," she noted, her violet eyes focused upon her daughter, daring her to offer an excuse for her behavior. Evidently, Iolanthe didn't care much about slipping out of the museum, as all she offered was a shrug, which caused her mother to sigh. There really was no changing Iolanthe's opinion on the whole issue of arranged marriages, and Cimorene, once more realizing this, turned to leave. Before she did so though, she did offer one last piece of information. "You might be interested to know that while you two were out and about, Achille, Immaculate, and Evanescent settled upon the terms of your engagement," she informed them before slipping out the doorway, leaving the room to descend into silence for the next few moments. Then Iolanthe, having fully processed what she'd just heard, emitted a sigh to match her mother's. Sure, Cornel seemed like an interesting enough person, as well as a potential friend, but one essential component of a love interest seemed to be missing from him: The desire for romance. In their brief meeting of each other, she had already deduced that it wasn't likely that he wouldn't likely lose his head to love anytime soon.

At the sudden appearance of Cimorene Latimer, Cornel sort of just fell silent, wanting to hear what the woman had to say. Upon her exit however he frowned for a moment before sighing and shaking his head. Looking over at Iolanthe he couldn't help but feel a bit bad for the girl. After all he had no intentions of actual romantic interests. They just didn't appeal to him. So she was stuck with him. Quite the downfall. Sighing he reached out and put a hand on Iolanthe's shoulder. In a sort of comforting gesture. After all she should've deserved someone who actually wanted love. Not someone who was far too interested in the world to feel his own desires and emotions.

Iolanthe glanced up at Cornel, studying him for a bit. She took in his cerulean eyes, chocolate brown hair, and defined features, pondering how this situation could possibly end. On one hand, she could surrender simply to this wedding and spend the rest of her life miserable. However, that didn't suit her personality, as she'd long had a streak of rebellion, not to the point of a tattoo, that sounded horribly painful, but she wasn't one to do exactly what she was told. On the other hand, she could refuse to marry Cornel, accept whatever punishment her father gives her, only to find herself cornered into another engagement. That option would satisfy her in a while, but it seemed the ending would be worse than her current option. After considering all this though, she realized that was a third choice, at least just this once, and from this an idea sprung.
"Well, this seems far from an ideal situation for either of us, but as a lover of science, not unlike yourself, I propose we turn it into an experiment, or perhaps it better be called a contest. Each of us currently stand in fairly neutral ground with the other, but as not to feel completely condemned by this engagement, I suggest we, merely as a sport of sorts, attempt to cause the other to fall in love with us," Iolanthe suggested to Cornel, her violet eyes hopeful. It was a bit of a last ditch effort on her part, but she couldn't help but hope he would consider her idea, and that perhaps the opportunity for an experiment would appeal to him, at least in the slightest.
