Lilanna strolled leisurely through the park. It had been a pretty boring day so far. Breakfast with the entire family, which had been sufficiently awkward. Her parents had all but disowned Madeline and although Lily adored her oldest sister, Gwen's young son had wailed incessantly the entire time. Family gatherings never went well. Lily couldn't understand why her parents insisted they do that twice a month. Then, after the ordeal that was family breakfast, Lilianna had spent hours in the lab, revising one of the scientist's theories. It had been almost completely incorrect and she had soon given up revising and settled for just rewriting half of it. But she wasn't to be taken for granted. No, she was going to demand to be given some of the credit for that thesis. Anyway, Lilianna had decided that she needed to just get away from people for a while. And that's how she ended up at the park. She followed her favorite path: the one that lead through the cluster of tall trees on the northern side. Lily kicked off her uncomfortable shoes and walked barefoot, enjoying the feel of the soft earth beneath her feet. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, taking in the sounds and smells of the park. There was no danger of her running into anything, she had wandered along this trail many times before and knew it by heart.
(Here it goes.)Leo was taking a peaceful stroll through the park. He had some time off at the moment and decided to use it by going to the park. Truthfully, Gareth had to force him to take a break. Now that he was out there in the park Leo didn't really mind, despite his adversity he felt quite relaxed. A few years back and this would have been a completely different story, back when Leo had been a rebellious whelp of a kid, refusing to listen to anyone. A light smile found itself on his face as he recalled how much trouble he had caused Gareth back then. Oh, how the times do change. As a child he had never even dreamed he would be in the position he was today, from the harsh life of the streets to the well respected life of a Royal Guard. That was all thanks to Gareth.
Leo looked up to see a bare-footed short little red head walking along the path with her eyes closed, and despite her amusing and fragile appearance she walked with the uptmost confidence in her step, as if nothing could possibly cause her to falter. Leo laughed quietly to himself, at this intriqueing girl who perplexed him.
Walking up to her with the stealth that only someone graced with agiliness could posses, Leo spoke quietly,"What would you do if something unexpected were to happened and your keen memory proved useless?"
Lilianna jumped when she heard an unfamiliar voice directly in front of her, but soon regained her composure. Who dared interrupt her mid afternoon stroll? Whoever it was, they obviously didn't realize how dangerous surprising her could be. She smiled and opened her eyes. "I suppose I'd have to respond with an equally unexpected response," she said. "I suggest you don't come any closer," she told him, lookingat her hand which she had instinctively raised to stop herself from running into him. There was a sharp, almost translucent crystal jutting out from the middle of her palm. It tip barely brushed against the bottom of his ribcage."This path isn't the only thing stored in my keen memory. I also happen to remember exactly where all of the appendages of a human male are located," she said, moving her hand and angling the crystal downward towards a much more vulnerable spot. "If you'd like to remain a human male with all of his bits and pieces working properly, I suggest you move away now," she said, her eyes flashing with warning and just a hint of amusement. She may be small, but she had other defenses to rely on.
Leo laughed at the girl, whose seemed to have a bite as fierce as her bark. The girl with irratated eyes at whomever dared disturb her stroll, however petite she may be. "If a fallen tree branch were to disturb your path you would cut it up? Sounds like a bit of an overkill to me, personally I would step over it." Leo responded in a myrthful tone. Then laughing once more and showed a perfect display of athletism as he flipped himself backwords away from the girl and landed on a single hand.[I THINK MY NOOK IS BEING EVIL AND NOT RECHARGING ???? TGBIGVNHG)
((That sucks :/ ))Lilianna laughed softly, not moving her hand. "No, probably not, although cutting it up would be much more fun," she said, looking up at him. "But you on the other hand, are not so easy to step over. Now I think of it, cutting you up sounds much more amusing than chopping up a tree," she concluded. Lily nodded in approval when he leapt away and retracted the crystal back into her hand. She smoothed down her dress and picked up her shoes, which she had dropped when he interrupted her walk. "Hm, that was almost as impressive as my power. Congratulations on winning second place," she said, teasing him. She continued walking and patted him on the head as she passed him. "My dog can do the same trick. Sorry I don't have any treats with me," she called over her shoulder. Lily hoped eh would follow her, she really could use some entertainment.
"Impressive? If you say so. I care more about usefullness that how impressive it looks. Sure, your ability may be fancy, but you can't cut what you can't touch. I could have a knive between you shoulder blades before you realized you missed." Leo casually stated in return, sounding quite serious about it except for the curl of his teasing smile breaking his expression. Hopping back up to his feet he continued walking besides her, though backwords. "Your dog? Now that is impressive, I'd like to see your dog do a flip and a one-hand stand. Whatever do you feed the thing?"Leo raised a curious eyebrow.
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "Oh, I see we're making death threats now," Lily said, raising an eyebrow. "I highly doubt you could break through solid crystal, regardless of how agile you are," she retorted. She decided not the explain the full mechanics of her power to him, including the fact that she could cover her entire body in crystal. She simply couldn't be bothered; there were much more interesting things to talk about. "I'd say my power is more impressive and more useful," she said, egging him on. Lily's smile widened when he asked about her dog. She looked over at him and shrugged. "Oh, you know, the usual. Mostly just the spare human flesh that I cut up. If you play your cards right, you could be his next meal," she said perkily.
"Everything breaks, you just have to know the right spots." Leo gave her a shrug in response,"Doubt all you want, but there's always a way." Despite him being a whole foot taller then her, she refused to give in. Perhaps she was correct, but Leo himself was not one to give up either. No matter what ability they posessed, he was confident they had a weakness. Some were just more difficult to figure out the. Gareth sometimes joked that if Leo wasn't a Royal Guard he'd either be an Preformer or an Intellect, for his talent suited acrobats while his mind was made for puzzles and mysteries. Leo had to remind him that if he wasn't here he would be dying on the streets, not in a lab somewhere. "I'm sure cutting your hair is a breeze." Leo scoffed.
Leo's eyes widened at the mention of himself being used for food. "Surely I would give you dog terrible indigestion." He was agahs,"Why I would never dream of doing something so horrible to your dog."
Lilianna decided she kind of liked this guy. She had seen him around before, but had no idea who he was or what his name was. "Yeah, like I cut my own hair," she said a slight frown crossing her features. "You know, they have people who do that for you," she reminded him. "And yes, you probably would give my poor dog an upset stomach," Lily conceded. "I guess I'll leave you in one piece for now," she said with a smile. "So, why did you so rudely disrupt my pleasant nature walk?" she asked curiously. She didn't usually run into people on this particular path and she definitely hadn't seen him here before.
Leo gave her a thoughtful look before he burst out laughing. "Sorry, I just imagined what you would look like if you cut your own hair." He teased once he was done laughing. It was a rare occasion for Leo to be around others when it isn't part of his job. As child he was always by himself, and even after Gareth took him in, his interaction with others his age was void. Such a situation where he didn't have to be constantly on guard of himself was one that he experienced few of. In response to her question he merely said simply,"You didn't look very pleasant to me, just fiercly determined to be."
"Gee, thanks," Lilianna said, but she laughed nonetheless. She would look pretty ridiculous if she attempted to cut her own hair. She bit her lip thoughtfully when he described her. "Hm, you know what? You're right. I am extremely determined to have a pleasant walk and now I have to make up for your unexpected appearance. Now, your presence isn't unwelcome, but you better make this an incredible walk or I'm dismissing you immediately," she warned him, only half joking.
"No need tp fret though, as you said, there are people to do ot for you. Bless their souls, for who knows where your hairdo would be without him." Leo put a hand to his chest for dramatic effect, with a widespread grin on his face. He wasn't always this forthcoming, it must be admitted, and was even considered somewhat of a reserved person. At the moment Leo was acting what one might call "sparatic", it was often that Leo was around someone around his own age- let alone a girl- when he wasn't expected to be serious and obediant. So really, beneath that grin was a nervous pulse and and unsure mind, and Leo was effectively acting almost like a little kid. In any case, she only seemed amused by this fact, if at all it was apparent to her or not."Dismiss me, and what right do you have to dismiss me? If anything, I'll be the one dismissing you." Leo retorted in protest.
Lilianna chuckled. "Silly boy, this is my walk. Therefore I have the authority to dismiss you," she said. "You're walking with me, not the other way around." She glanced over at him and smiled sweetly. In all honesty, he was a pleasant and rather amusing addition to her little stroll and she had no intentions of making him leave any time soon. "So, since we are temporary partners in this journey called life - also known as the shady path at the back of the park - I guess it would be helpful if we knew each other's names," Lilianna said. She had closed her eyes again. "I'm Lilianna Perdue, but you can call me Lily, or Anna, or beautiful red-haired maiden," she told him.
"Your walk? You assume so much. Did you make this path? Did you buy this back? Are you even so sure that you are the only one that walks this path? I'd say this is as much as my walk as it yours." Leo said with a casual glare. "I think I go with Lily, because I Anna just doesn't sound right, and the third was one is just to far fetched." Leo replied to her suggestions."Me however, my name is Leonardo Kinsley, but you can call Leo, or if you really want to, Prince-Charming aka Mr.Hot-Stuff."
Lily stuck her tongue out at him childishly. "Well you can have your own walk over there," she said, shooing him away. "Because on this side of the path is where my walk is taking place." She placed a hand comfortingly on his arm. "Just do yourself a favor and accept defeat. No matter how illogical it is, I will continue to argue," she informed him. That was just the way she was. She loved to argue, whether she won or not. "So, Mr. Hot-Stuff, do you make a habit of sneaking up on vulnerable young women while they wander through the shaded corners of the park?" Lily asked. "Or was this just like a one time thing? Think carefully before you answer. If you choose option number one, you're just a creep, but if you choose option number two, frankly I'll be quite flattered."
Letting out a long sigh, Leo replied. "Stubborn as mule, are you? Well, I guess I'll just have to call it quits. As they say, you'd have to be a fool to argue with a fool. Defeat? Nah, I'd like to call it a tactical retreat." In the end, Leo was not a very argumentative person, while the girl seemed to have a fierce passion for the sport. "Nah, don't visit the park often enough, so I can't say I make it a habit of preying upon young woman that walk on the shadowy path. Yup, probably a one time thing, I don't think I'll ever see a girl more sorry looking than you walking along the path anyways." Leo answered her question.
Lily grinned, glad he had conceded. Seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders. "You're one smart cookie," she said. "And I forgive you for calling me a fool. It's obvious that you meant to say cool, or possibly jewel," she said airily. She raised an eyebrow at his response. "It sounds to me like the only thing stopping you from making a habit of frightening unsuspecting women is the fact that you don't visit the park frequently. Oh, and I take back what I said about being flattered. You really are an expert at saying the wrong thing to a lady," she commented, speeding up a little.
