What's your favorite western?

Mine has to be one of Linda Lael Miller's McKettrick books, probably A Wanted Man or Shotgun Bride. I have another couple but finding a good western nowadays is so hard.

Kathy Otten | 6 comments My favorites in the romance genre would be those in a group (not a series) with titles Notorious, Lawless, Defiant etc. by Patricia Potter. Also westerns by Lorraine Heath and Jodi Thomas.
And while I loved Louis L'Amour, my all time favorite western is still The Virginian by Owen Wister

*Runs off to find those books.

I think I've seen some Louis L'Amour in the library. Will have to try him (the first copy I found was spanish)

I haven't found any of those but I picked up some Trailsman books. I don't like them all that much.

If you like romance westerns, there is Karen Kay, Madeline Baker,(but those are older) or Cassie Edwards. If you like Harlequin Historical Westerns, try Cheryl St. John.
Way, way back when I was in High School I always read Max Brand. The Blue Jay was my favorite

Nicholas | 1 comments Shane by Jack Schaefer, probably my first back in the early 1960s and re-read numerous times since.

Honourable mentions to : The Loneliness of the Gun by Bryan Haven. Several of Elmore Leonard's tales: Hombre, Three-ten to Yuma (short story). Gone To Texas by Forrest Carter.

Oh, and did I mention Shane :)
