I've put some on my shelves, mostly first books in a series since I like to read series in order. Do they work well as stand alones, generally speaking, for this author?
Well, A Knight in Shining Armor can be read as a stand alone and I'm usually rather uptight about reading a series in order.
Her books are mostly stand-alones. A lot of the Montgomery series is just based on the family itself and are set in different time periods. There is 4 books that I call the Velvet series (part of the Montgomery series) that are about 4 brothers and they should be read in order since there is sort of a continuing story throughout. I remember a couple of medieval books that were about a brother and sister.
The Velvet series:The Velvet Promise, Highland Velvet, Velvet Angel, Velvet Song
The Peregrine series
The Taming, The Conquest
Well, I forgot there is the Twin Series that need to be read together. Its set in Amer. West. Can't say about her contemporaries since I don't read them. They haven't appealed to me but my mom likes them.
She was my second favorite romance author when I first started reading romances. I didn't get an allowance, but whenever I did get money, I spent it on Johanna Lindsey or Jude Deveraux books or on Duran Duran tapes.
I so wanted to marry into the Montgomery/Taggart family!
I don't get into her newer books much.

Me either, Lady D. I don't know what happened to her but I don't even bother with her new stuff. My mom likes it though.
Yes, she used to be my "go to" author back in the day. I have't tried any of her new stuff for quite awhile.

The "Velvet" series is still my all-time favorite. If you want to give her a try, I highly recommend trying this series first. If you can, try and read them in order for everything to make sense.
