Because I read this in one sitting, I'm only going to comment on the book generally for now. I really love and hate this book. I love Esme, and by love I mean love to hate. I love how obsessed this book is with the "in", it reminds me of my school.
What I hate, however, is Jerome. He would be such a good guardian for the children if he wasn't such a coward. All of the guardians have a fatal flaw, whether it be fear, cowardice, or hubris, it is there. Jerome's unwillingness to accept any sort of confrontation, whether it be for his own sake or the sake of the Baudelaires, makes me angry at my core.
Esme makes up for it with her style.
