Love Marianne. She's amazing. A quote that's inspired me today is: "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." — Albert Einstein
Robin wrote: "...and everything is a miracle! Thank you Rebekah."I wish goodreads had a "like" feature like on facebook because I would "like" your comment. =)
Here's another quote I'm digging today: "The world needs the special gift that only you have." -- Marie Forleo
DESIDERATA — Words for Life
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be critical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful.
Strive to be happy.

I love these quotes Robin! Here's another of my faves: "We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop." - Mother Teresa
I Love the Ocean Analogy. It brings visual, tactile and spiritual understanding all at the same time. "You are a drop of the same ocean, Spirit. For the ocean is made up of all its drops. You are part of God" The Essence of Self Realization - Paramhansa Yogananda
When a lump of salt is thrown into water, it dissolves and cannot be removed even though we can taste the salty water. So the separate self dissolves in the sea of pure awareness, infinite and immortal.
—Brihadaranyaka Upanishad
Here's another good one by Ellie Wheeler Wilcox:One ship drives east, and another drives west,
With the self-same winds that blow,
'Tis the set of the sails and not the gales,
Which tells us the way to go,
Quote continues....Like the waves of the sea are the waves of fate,
As we voyage along through life,
'Tis the set of the soul which decides its goal
And not the calm or the strife
E.W Wilcox
I love the ship and sea analogy for the voyage of the human soul.
The sea is only the embodiment of a
Supernatural and wonderful existence.
It is nothing but love and emotion;
It is the ‘Living Infinite...’
—Jules Verne

“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
― Mother Teresa
I like the quote a lot, however, I disagree that is between you and God. It's always between yourself. Nothing stops you doing anything except yourself.
If I had my life to live over,
I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, I'd limber up.
I would be sillier than I have this time.
I would take fewer things seriously.
I would take more chances.
I would take more trips
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers.
I would eat more ice cream and less beans.
I would perhaps have more actual troubles,
but I'd have fewer imaginary ones.
You see, I am one of those people
who has lived sensibly and sanely,
hour after hour; day after day.
Oh, I've had my moments
and if I had to do it all over again,
I'd have more of them.
In fact, I'd try to do nothing else.
Just moments, one after another,
instead of living so many years ahead of each day.
If I had my life to live over,
I would start bare foot early in the Spring
and I would stay that way late into the Autumn.
I would go to more dances.
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daises.

Many paths lead
from the foot of the mountain,
But at the peak
We all gaze at the
Single bright moon.
~ Ikkyu
"The Mountain" is a great metaphor, indeed. But is the mountain real or imagined? We may believe we are on different paths when we are, infact, on the same one path.Stripped of labels, expectations and life experiences,everything becomes one. Taken another step further, thinking in this way, even the path disappears.
Everything is already and always one. "A single bright moon."

by Clifford Browder
Peace is not
Sterile gauze, a snowflake, an insipid dove
It's feisty and rich
Don't let the war boys hog it all
The spit, the spice and the glamour.
Peace is potency
Reaching and sprouting
Budding and branching
It's lifting things
A good scrap
A hot wrestle and a cool scrub
Cleansing and hope.
Peace is the empowerment of dust
Whispers of the song before origin
As out of seed
The cathedral of the body builds itself
It's spasms and metamorphoses
The vertigo
of mind dancing
With the fecundator
To the music of need.
Peace
Is the little orange bees
Spotted ladybugs on white campions
Late June with a stink of linden
Prickles and burrs
It's wild grapes in a bramble
A tough nut
Lovers churning
Through the night, at noon, in the morning
A juicy comeuppance
For the grim suppressors.
Peace
Is for the star-biters and the rooted
Don't be dainty
Go at it
Hammer and tong.
Peace is not purity
Limp, neat and dry.
It's sexy.
Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
This is your life, do what you love, and do it often.
If you don’t like something, change it.
If you don’t like your job, quit.
If you don’t have enough time, stop watching tv.
If you are looking for the love of your life, stop; they will be waiting for you when you start doing things you love.
Stop over analyzing, life is simple.
All emotions are beautiful, when you eat, appreciate every last bite.
Open your mind, arms, and heart to new things and people, we are united in our differences.
Ask the next person you see what their passion is, and share your inspiring dream with them.
Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.
Some opportunities only come once, seize them.
Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them so go out and start creating.
Life is short. Live your dream and share your passion.
― Holstee Manifesto
When you are able to shut off all outside distractions, including your own speaking, and even your mind’s chatter, then it is possible to connect with your heart.
Why does our culture put such little value on silence? Why does it seem like our lives become so filled with stimuli that we feel that even taking a few moments out of our day to bask in silence and give the mind as well as the body a rest is somehow against our work ethic? What would happen if you were able to choose moments throughout the day to simply rest in silence?
Take the time to connect to your heart and listen to what it has to say. Make this connection more important than anything else happening in your life.
When you make the time to quiet the mind and listen to your heart an entire world of possibilities will open up. This is the source of creating an authentic life that is truly an expression of who you really are and what you have to share, your pure, loving essence.

And it is on these spaces where there is nothing that the usefulness of the house depends.Therefore just as we take advantage of what is, we should recognize the usefulness of what is not. Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching. (chap. 11, tr. Waley)
When was the last time you walked through a beautiful garden? If it's been a while, we recommend that you do so - and, as you walk, imagine, for a moment, how this Earth would look to you if, long ago, we had created and planted gardens everywhere.
What would the world look like if we had, as our highest priority, to beautify it?
For us, we see a world where everywhere you walk, everywhere you look - in the neighborhoods, yards, parks, along roadsides and city streets, surrounding businesses and governmental buildings - there are gardens filled with flowers and fruits of all kinds; where so much fruit, so many vegetables and herbs, so many edible plants are in such great abundance that you can pick whatever you want to eat anywhere, anytime; that instead of going to the grocery store, you can take a walk and eat your fill of the most healthful, delicious foods for free.
And when your walk is over, you notice that your Spirit has also been nourished simply by you having mingled with the flowers and trees along the way.
In addition, we see a world where the people are tending to each other in the same way they tend to their beautiful gardens; where each person shines, radiantly, because they're being cared for and given everything they need in order to grow, thrive, and blossom in all their glory.

Our inventions are wont to be pretty toys, which distract our attention from serious things. They are but improved means to an unimproved end, an end which it was already but too easy to arrive at; as railroads lead to Boston or New York. We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas; but Maine and Texas, it may be, have nothing important to communicate.-Henry David Thoreau

I really like this one. I just wrote a post on my blog relating to self-reflection. I would have liked to included this quote. Thanks for sharing.

Robin wrote: ""Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be ..." Thanks for sharing this extraordinary quote! The quote goes so well with the book I'm reading now: The Power of Now. The quote also reminds me of a Bible verse: AND WE ARE HAPPY BECAUSE OF THE HOPE WE HAVE OF SHARING GOD'S GLORY. WE ALSO HAVE JOY WITH OUR TROUBLES, BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT THESE TROUBLES PRODUCE PATIENCE. AND PATIENCE PRODUCES CHARACTER, AND CHARACTER PRODUCES HOPE. --ROMANS 5:2-4.
