Kelvin The game is simple: I will start with a question and whoever answers it correctly first asks their question for someone else to answer! Begin!

message 2: by Kelvin (new)

Who is the only pitcher to lose three games o in one World Series?

message 4: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Lance, can you clarify? three games 0?
Do you mean he lost all 3 games?

That was a softball Kelvin.

Ray Oyler

Longest losing streak to start a season... team and year

message 10: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Sorry I was at dinner, but ray Oyler was also wrong. Al Kaline broke his arm during the season and while he was out Willie Horton, Jim Northrup and Mickey Stanley manned the outfield. When Kaline came back the Tigers were running away with the pennant and Mayo Smith knew there was no way he couldn't play Kaline in the series after being with the team for 16 years, so he had Mickey Stanley start fielding balls at shortstop in practice an used him in all seven games against the cards. He only made two errors.

message 11: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Very good Mike. I remember Mickey in that series

message 12: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Longest losing streak to start a season. Baltimore 1988. 21 games

Who's the only major leaguer to hit a home run before his 20th birthday and after his 40th.

message 13: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Al Kaline? Just a guess

message 14: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Kaline hit his first at 18, but his 399th and last at 39. When he retired he didn't realize no American League player had ever hit 400 homers and 3000 hits. He said if he had known he would have came back for that last home run.

message 15: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments There are so many great ones that hit won at 20 years old and 40 but I can't think of anyone else.
It's a shame because I have a great question

message 16: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Ken Griffey Jr.

message 17: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments As Whitey Ashburn would say, how bout that Rusty Staub

message 18: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Hey Harold, what was your question?

message 19: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Who is the only Hall of Famer to try a comeback after he had been inducted into the Hall of fame?

message 20: by Lance (new)

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
Jim Palmer?

message 21: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Good one Harold. The Kansas City Royals are in their 45th season this year. In these past 45 seasons the Royals have had two managers and four players wear their uniform who now reside in Cooperstown . How many do you know?

message 22: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Lance wrote: "Jim Palmer?"

I read that in a book by Tim Kurkjian and it has stayed with me. He did it in 1991 in spring training and quit after one start.

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
I know of two players...George Brett and Harmon Killebrew. Have to research the others

message 24: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments One of the managers was a converted 3rd baseman who became a star pitcher in the 1950s. The other manager went in for his managerial success . One of the players was a 300 game winner, and the other an aging Former National league MVP.

message 25: by Lance (new)

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
Two more answers... one I am sure... one I am reasonably sure. Gaylord Perry is the 300 game winner- Whitey Herzog is one of the managers - in for his managerial achievements

message 26: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Correct

message 27: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Hey lance, the other two were easier to forget. Bob Lemon managed the Royals 1970-1972, and Orlando Cepeda played his last 33 games for KC in 1974.

message 28: by Lance (new)

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
okay looks like I am up. Going for a Twins question. 7 players (all positional... no pitchers) played for both championship Twins teams in 1987 and 1991. Name them... Will give credit if you can get five

message 29: by carl (new)

carl theaker | 561 comments hey so did joe montana, oops wrong sport. maybe KC is
the dinosaur grave yard?

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
Think.Montana played slightly better in KC than Killebrew or Cepeda. Just a wee bit....

message 31: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbeck, Gary Gaetti,
Greg Gagne.I'm done

message 32: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments How bout Dan gladden

message 33: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) The player to hit a hr before 20 and after 40 was Ty Cobb?

message 34: by Lance (new)

Lance (sportsbookguy) | 15857 comments Mod
puckett, hrbek, gladden and gagne are correct. gaetti is not...deadline deal to the angels in 1990

message 35: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Gene larkin

message 36: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Who is the only man to play 500 games for 4 different teams?

message 37: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Lance wrote: "puckett, hrbek, gladden and gagne are correct. gaetti is not...deadline deal to the angels in 1990"

TRICKY TRICKY

message 38: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) Rusty Staub - Astros, Mets, Expos and Tigers

message 39: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Your the man Harold

message 40: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments I didn't get it. I was thinking Nolan Ryan and then realized 500 games would rule out any pitcher.
PS That is the 2nd Rusty Staub answer.

message 41: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Who is the only player to hit a homer for 4 different teams in one season, and who were the teams?

message 42: by Harold (new)

Harold Kasselman | 19234 comments Probably Rusty Staub

message 43: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) Nope but another Met. Dave Kingman. Mets, padres, angels? Yankees

message 44: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Correct again Kevin

message 45: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Who did the Mets receive from Detroit in exchange for Rusty Staub.

message 46: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) Mikey Lolich?

message 47: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments Yep. A trade that made no sense. Mets gave away a guy who drove in 100 runs for a washed up starter.

message 48: by Mike (new)

Mike (mike9) | 6457 comments If anyone has a question, fire away. Who holds the record for most homers by two brothers?

message 49: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) Hank and Tommie Aaron

message 50: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Brazee (kevinbrazee) Name the 11 players that have won back to back MVPs. Hint: There have been 1 at each position except two at 1B and two at CF,
