yeah, I think Beauty should be considered a read for children that are still pretty young more than "mid level YA"...I enjoyed it, but it was a very simple story.
I've read one book by Robin McKinley, Spindle's End which is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but in a woman are awesome not damsels-in-distress way. It was pretty good!!
Allison wrote: "she also did a Robin Hood story called The Outlaws of Sherwood I'm excited to read."I used to love that book Allison, but whenever I've recommended it to friends, they always dislike it! I tried reading it again not long ago, and was surprised at the old-fashioned language - which put me off finishing it, strangely. Obviously the younger me could handle 'ye' and 'twas' and 'aye' more than I can now!
I used to love Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast and Rose Daughter, but again, I haven't read them in a while.
I read Spindle's End too and really liked that one. I've also read both her retellings of Beauty and the Beast, and I tried to read Outlaws of Sherwood but couldn't get into it... I'll try it again someday. I recently bought The Blue Sword and I'm excited about that. Right now I'm in the middle of Sunshine, which is technically an adult book, but it is soooooooooo good. I haven't had such a strong reaction to a vampire novel since I read Anne Rice for the first time.

Tahleen wrote: "Definitely read it, it's so good."thanks! I will soon :) I have Blue Sword and really want to read it too though...
I really like Robin McKinley. She basically initiated me into the Fantasy world, but more specifically YA fantasy. I LOVE The Hero and the Crown, and The Blue Sword. I also really liked Beauty, and I liked Outlaws also. Those are the ones I loved, but I have at least really liked at her YA books. I haven't read the newest few though. She also did a collection of short stories with her husband called Water, and I really liked that one too. She makes me happy!
Yay happy! She makes me happy too. And I just bought The Blue Sword (I probably mentioned it 20 times already) so I'm looking forward to that one too.
I'm really glad you are looking forward to The Blue Sword! I LOVE it! One of my all time favorite books in general, not just YA!
I just bought The Blue Sword too, but I keep lending it out to people, and so I haven't read it yet!

The Hero and the Crown
Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast
I have a TON of her books at home waiting to be read, one is what is perhaps her most popular: The Blue Sword.
She has also written some things that aren't YA so I won't go on about those.
Anyone else read anything YA by her?
