Hello Kerry, I'm so excited you were able to join and thanks.

Thanks Jerry for the invitation. I am looking forward to robust engagements.

I'm Kanita and I forgot to introduce myself when I first joined a few weeks ago...oops! Anyway, I absolutely LOVE to read. I am open to most any genre and enjoy reading any good book but African-American lit be it historical fiction, non-fiction, mystery or chick-lit, etc. tends to be my favorite. I do enjoy and take pleasure in the modern conveniences of technology and our digital world with audiobooks, Kindles, Nooks, tablets and such BUT, to me, nothing ever really beats the touch or feel of flipping the pages of a good "old-fashioned" book! Goodreads is great and my to-read list keeps right on growing but that's a good thing! Glad to be a member of the group! Looking forward to much wonderful commentary and more great books! Happy Reading to ALL! :)

I love african american fiction, classics, Historical fiction but I will read anything that looks intreseting. Looking forward to meeting some other passionate reads and finding some new reads.

Well, what about me...hmmm, let's see. I am a recent first time grandmother. I absolutely adore my grandson. I love youth ministry and actively participate. I love to read, travel, photography, eat...I know but I love food, especially tacos! I can eat them EVERY DAY! My life is simple. The older I get, the more I cherish the mundane things. I thank God for health and just being able to live and enjoy life. I am a Whitney Houston fan for life. I am part Jamaican and now live the lazy life with 1 1/2 jobs, lol!

Welcome and congrats on the new grandson!

Hello Hero, love the name by the way! And yes you are right, there aren't alot of action/adventure thrillers in the African American literature. Sounds like you had better get started writing it!

My name is Veronica from Queens, NY. I am a mother of 2 teenaged daughtes (19 & 13). One starting her 3rd year in college and the other starting H.S. I am also a wife of 16 years (long time, I know). I work for a major utility company in NYC as a Specialist in their Occupational Health department. I am an avid reader. I love to read all types of books.
I look forward to meeting everyone
Hello Veronica and thanks for joining. No it doesn't have to be all AfAm lit. Just mostly. Mostly wanting to stay away from street lit. I started the group because I have a passion for the past and in all the historical groups I'm in they rarely read AfAm lit. Yet most if the black lit groups I'm in mostly focus on street lit or they aren't very active. But no we don't have to zoom in on one type of book! Thanks for joining!

I just added the folder do you mind putting three trilogy there? It's under General and Recommendations.
Ha! yes you have! It's basically urban literature that focuses on the street life. You know, drugs, sex, crime...that type of thing. Typically written by black authors.
