Something I have always liked is when people pick out character theme songs for a book. I relate a lot to music so I always pick out songs that sound like my characters.
For instance: Hand of Sorrow by within temptation for Joshua. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlkNVU...
I listened to this song over and over again when writing about him.
It's just something that sounds like him.
What about you? Did you have a song that you thought sounded like one of the characters?

Kaine Andrews (kaineandrews) | 75 comments While I suspect it's more related to the overal imagery in my head during most of his scenes thusfar, alongside the creepy stalker/obsessive vibe I get from him, Joshua makes me think of "I Stand Alone" from Godsmack and "Shame" from Stabbing Westward... but that could just be me.

While I don't quite know everything about Jesse, I've got my theories. Much as I'd like to stab him through the throat (nothing wrong with the character, mind, I'm just not a happy puppy lovey dovey type of person, if my own writing and general reading tastes weren't an indication... XD), I keep picturing him popping on "screen" from behind a locker, mid-90s sitcom/teen drama style, while "Everything You Want" from Vertical Horizon plays.

Rachel brings to mind Mad World by Gary Jules (especially for her suicide attempt) and T.A.T.U.'s Everything She Said (mainly for the frenetic, confused theme, not necessarily lyrical content... ;) )

But those are just my scattered thoughts, and come from "my thinking thusfar."

I like it. You have a different approach to the characters and I like seeing how they appear to everyone. I agree; Joshua is on the obsessive and slightly stalker side.
And yes; Jesse is the kind of either you love him or hate him type. He's got that sad puppy feel where he always gets kicked or stepped on and can't seem to figure out that he's being abused.
And I could never quite pin point a song that I liked for Rachael because everything about her is scatterbrained and confusing. I think those songs are pretty close.

I think that Joshua would probably have the same opinion of Jesse as you and that Joshua would probably say something about him similar to Somebody told me by the killers.
especially the "somebody told me that you had a boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend" part.

I found that entirely too funny. Particularly because I used to torture my ex (who was utterly in love with Dawson and the brothers on One Tree Hill) with that song... XD

Yes; it is pretty funny. That song just cracks me up

Justin (justinbienvenue) I thought of the song Your Guardian Angel by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus for Jesse and Rachael. It's fitting to me in certain moments. Since I'm currently reading the book I just happen to listen to that song one night and thought about the characters in the book.

I thought that one was really good for them too. I came across it by accident while writing the book and thought it was perfect.
