Yati wrote: "Oh. Did you like Artemis Fowl? I found the style really irritating!"To be honest, it was a... rather boring book... My friend could kill me, I don't care, but I was falling asleep trying to finish it. Fowl the second gets on my nerve after just two chapters lol... I almost wished I had read another book instead...

Diana Wynne Jones! One of my favourite authors! Tapi The Time of the Ghost isn't among my favourites.

I have never given up on an Author, well not without a fight. So, I'm looking into other books by Eoin Colfer. Maybe Artemis wasn't such a hit for me that doesn't mean I don't want to try and read other books by him =D
Yeahh... I'd have to say, it's not easy to read The Time if the Ghost I kept wanting to give up on it. But then I remember back when I was trying to read The Merlin Conspiracy, it took me a while to get my head around it...

Completely opposite -- I just give up on authors if I don't like a book; most likely won't pick up anything else by the them unless someone recommends another book by the author.
The Merlin Conspiracy wasn't a favourite either. ^^;; The alternating POVs got on my nerves. Kalau nak cerita yang lagi pening try Hexwood, but I rather liked that one. Her book I like most is Howl's Moving Castle. Also others on the noteworthy list: Fire and Hemlock, the Chrestomanci books, Eight Days of Luke.

It's a habit =D I'd like to think that there are more and I've been missing it. So, I usually try to see if there were more. To me, an author is a person who can create a world and would like to share it with everyone else. I might not like a world that an author had created, but that doesn't mean I would hate the other worlds he/she had created as well... Pelikkan?
The Merlin Conspiracy was a good challenge though lol. I still remember the reason why I bought it. I had a long vacation or something and wanted a long book to read hahah... Hmm... Hexwood, yang tu saya ada copy, x baca lagi je. I still don't have Howl's Moving Castle, Fire and Hemlock, the Chrestomanci books & Eight Days of Luke. Maybe saya akan beli the copies by next month... Have to go and raid Kinokuniya... Borders BTS x bnyk option...

I don't precisely dislike the "worlds" the authors create -- my problem is often with the writing style. Sometimes the plot might be outrageous and the world-building poor, but I might be persuaded to read on if I like how the author writes!
Besides, I have too many books I want to read. If I can cut down the list by eliminating a few authors, well, why not. XD

It's quite difficult to hate or even dislike the world created by an Author - well, at least to me it is. But, I agree, the writing style can sometimes be a real turn off. Just imagine, a good story idea, but poorly written. I'm sure I'd feel like strangling the author - better yet, I'd be dying to re-write it. Heheh...
I think it was Frank Zappa who said it "Too many books, too little time"... I can say I definitely agree with that. But, I don't give up that easily heheh... Ye lah... Make believe world is the only world I could understand compare to the real world... Sah... Kena jumpa pakar sakit jiwa ni...
@ annahs:-ahahah...
@ Khairul:-
Umm... I don't believe I have. I might try it. But, I couldn't even get through some book at the moment (why on earth did I even buy that Ian Rankin book in the first place?!)... So, it might take a while before I get around to read it... Of course - fantasy such as the likes of Diana Wynne Jones, Angie Sage, etc, could always find their way to cut in line as well... Heheh
