I remember I once read a book called "Oh Shit! Not Again" by Mandar Kokate. For me, that is the worst book and worst author I've read. There are a few more but I think this book tops the "worst" list.

Which is the worst author you've ever read?

message 2: by Anoop (new)

Anoop Pai B (anooppai) I call that book, Oh No Shit again... :D

Wow.....you're so right. There was this book once by John Grisham which I had started reading.....believe me, I couldn't even complete half of it! Something was just so wrong in that book.....since then, never had the courage enough to try a John Grisham book :)

message 5: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Passmore | 68 comments John Grisham is ok, but a bit repetitive.

My fave author is Stephen King and funnily enough the worst book I've ever read is by his wife! It is called survivor and I hated it. Stephen King said it was good, but I guess he had to :)

Hahaha you read my mind. What's funnier is it says "Beware, you may die laughing" on the first page :D

Check out my review for the book. It says "Worst book ever?" :D

message 9: by Saima (new)

Saima Siddiqui (sensationalsaima) Honestly, I found Salman Rushdie's Midnights' Children vulgar. I feel the same way about Shobha De.

I saw your review and the comments.....god, that book is really bad. And yes, that "beware" line on the first page...there can never be a worse or wronger line written...!

Hajarath Prasad Abburu (hajarath) | 2833 comments Love @ Facebook by Nikita Singh. I was so depressed and angry about it that i Have sent a hate-mail to the author ,posted in her Facebook page and Website begging her not to write an alphabet again. The author herself is very beautiful though :P

She's not that bad....I've read her book "Someone Like You" which she wrote with Durjoy Dutta, was pretty nice....it wasn't that bad. Have also heard a lot about her book "The Promise".....and aching to read it :)) But still, each have their own choices....:)

message 16: by Rahul Nath (new)

Rahul Nath (cultofpersonality) | 45 comments Haha sure Ruchi :D Next time I see one of her works. Most likely will pick "The Promise" since it's rated the highest :D Will also be available at Landmark I think.

Gayathri (elgeewrites) | 35 comments I saw this discussion and entered with an intention to write about "Oh Shit, Not again" and I am not surprised to find the book mentioned in the first line itself. I went ahead and rant about it in my blog.

( In case you are interested http://musings-over-nothing.blogspot.... )

Another one would be
Of Course I Love You...! Till I Find Someone Better... by Durjoy Dutta , Maanvi Ahuja

message 19: by Rahul Nath (new)

Rahul Nath (cultofpersonality) | 45 comments Yeah I wasn't a fan of Of Course I love You too, but I could actually finish it. Oh Shit Not Again is so much worse, it hurts just writing about it :D

Oh I know....Oh shit! was just too bad...I'm not much of a fan of Of Course....though I don't think it was that bad. The other books by Durjoy Dutta are way better actually...

Here's two more books to make it to my "worst list" 20 and still a virgin?!!? and It's first love...Just like the last one!

Gayathri (elgeewrites) | 35 comments Is there a discussion on Worst books you have read, as I have this seeming 'luck' to acquire loads of such books! You know a thread to share our rants and wrath and then warning others to stay off from them (yeah pretty much like hate threads :P) I mean the current discussion on worst author, not worst books :)

message 23: by A, Crazy. (new)

A H | 7672 comments Mod
Well....right now, there's no such discussion. You can create such a discussion. I thought worst author and worst books are inter-related and people can talk about them both here. But still.....you can of course make a discussion on that topic yourself:) Or I can, if you don't want to.

message 24: by Cath (new)

Cath (cathastrophic) I'm gonna get rocks thrown at me for this....
But I just can't stand Bret Easton Ellis. The ideas are always kinda good, but his way of writting drives me nuts! I forced myself through American Psycho, even if I LOVED the movie and story concept... But just can't read him

message 27: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) Ernest Hemingway. I don't like his style of writing, I don't care for most of the subject matter he writes about, and he seems to have been the type of person I cannot stand. All that testosterone driven need to kill things......just ugh!

Yes, it is. I couldn't read it beyond 70-80 pages despite my best efforts to like it.

message 31: by Linda (new)

Linda Kelly Am afraid I hate all "chick lit" and all "misery memoirs" but my least fav. author has to be Jonathon Franzen. Find his writing just boring . . Am yawning thinking about The Corrections.

message 32: by Portia (new)

Portia Hi, Linda. I read Freedom by Franzen when I had a rare chunk of time to read. Did you try that, or was The Corrections more than enuf?

I like Durjoy Dutta....he's not that bad. Of course I have to agree that his book "Of Course I Love You" was not that impressive but I rather enjoyed his other books...

Linda Kelly No Portia, all of Franzen i'm afraid.

Misha (itz_mie) I 've not had the courage 2 take up nothr Durjoy Datta Ruchi.... the first one I read was a disaster :-S

message 36: by Anoop (new)

Anoop Pai B (anooppai) Cyrus Broacha's Karl, Aaj aur Kal is a debacle.. The problem with this book is that Cyrus tries to be smart which is really not his strength!!!

Sheetal Dash (sheetalsdash) | 64 comments So far Durjoy Datta is on top of my worst author list. I was so angry after reading his You Were My Crush!...till you said you love me! that I started grinding my teeth and pulling my hair. I am not even a fan or friend of his in his goodreads page. How can I? The only good thing about him is that the guy is good looking and damn cute with those dimples.Otherwise I hate him and all his books.

message 48: by Chaitalee (new)
