I'll take the first 10 nominations for our poll for the July-August Group Read.

Please be sure the book isn't part of a series, is a reasonable reading length, and is easily available.

I've got Joyland coming to me in the mail sometime soon and can't wait to read it. However, we don't read books King wrote, himself, only those of other authors he has read and recommended.

message 6: by Samantha A (new)

Samantha A I am going to veer off topic, but Joyland was great, Debra! :)

message 7: by Samantha A (new)

Samantha A Can I nominate 2? If not, just go ahead and delete this comment.

I would also like to nominate Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

message 8: by Sungil (new)

Sungil | 3 comments But, but, but..... I just got it from Amazon today (together with Hill's Nos5er7t78.....something, too. What a summer for me ! ;) )
Well I'm sorry for my mistake, I'll obviously vote for Hill then :)
Good summer to you all :) !

Since Christian also wants to nominate NOS4A2, I'll accept your Gone Girl nomination, Samantha. Normally, it's only one nomination per person.

Keith wrote: "I'm nominating Joyland by Mr. King"

Hey Keith:

King's new book, Joyland, is a popular one right now. However, we don't read and discuss his books in this group. We read the books King has read and recommended. Would you like to nominate something else, Keith?

Duane (duanemincel) | 78 comments I was planning on reading Hell House for the first time soon. My vote was a Jedi mind-trick to the group to persuade everyone. ;)

Duane (duanemincel) | 78 comments Samantha wrote: "I am going to veer off topic, but Joyland was great, Debra! :)"

I agree Samantha. I rank Joyland as one of his best works in the last decade or so. But I am biased. I dig all of his stuff.

Brenda Leonard | 7 comments Every Last One by Anna Quindlen. This one is a great read but very disturbing.

Every Last One is the last nomination we will accept because we now have 10 nominations! That was fast!
