Does anyone have good suggestions for newer true crime books to read? I just read Waiting to be heard by Amanda Knox and thought it was a great book!

Hi Kelly,I do, it is called MURDER IN MCHENRY, A Son's Pursuit of Justice. I will tell you that I am bias, as I am one of the co-authors. This is my true crime story. My father was gunned down with his employee at our bar on June 2, 1981. The case went cold for 27 years. My former babysitter tells me about a book CULLOTTA. This book is a bio of Frank Cullotta,a mobster turned government witness. On page 130, it describes from father's and Pat's (my father's employee) murder and who did it. It was Larry Neumann. If you have seen the movie CASINO it was based on real people. It was based on Frank Cullotta's boss Tony Spilotro (Joe Pesci played him) and the Hole in the Wall Gang is referenced in the movie. That is Franks crew and Larry was a part of it. A side not, Frank was the technical consultant for Martin Scorsese for that movie. I reached out to Frank's co-author, Denny Griffin. He asked Frank why they did not give this information to the McHenry County Sheriff's dept 26 years earlier, and Frank told Denny he did. Myself and Frank, Denny, and a strange cast of others help me pursue naming Larry Neumann (who has died in 2007 in prison for another murder) as the killer of my father and Pat. I promise that this is a Truth way stranger than fictions book.
It was released in April of this year and I have 4.75 star rating on Amazon with 22 review so far. It is a real good book, but I mentioned that I am bias, a little.
Since I have written the book, I have found out that the original investigator George Hendle, who later became Sheriff was connected to the Chicago Outfit and that the FBI was investigating him. I am currently fighting the same system 32 years later and I have received a lot traction in influencing the Sheriff's election next year. To find out more Kelly try my website it is www.mchenrycounty1981.com. I hope that you do!!

I misspoke it is a 'Group Folder', here is the link: True Crime Authors. Then you can start a discussion thread about your book.

I bought a great book, "Police Don't Move! 'well sometimes we do,'" and am currently reading it. I commented on it in the "New Authors" topic in this group. It was published Feb. 2013. Nick Wood is a very entertaining writer. Please read the comment I posted there.
I just finished "A Voice out of Nowhere: inside the mind of a mass murderer." Couldn't put it down, can't forget it.

I was interested in the case and was glad to read her book. I also recently downloaded Honor Bound: My Journey to Hell and Back with Amanda Knox. I thought it would be interesting to read his side of the story as well.

That has quite a few that sound good. I have 2 of them already, but haven't read them yet . I think I'll pick up a couple more of them .
Have you read any on the list, and if so, how did you like them ?

Not yet. So many books, so little time! Duel With the Devil sounds fascinating. Maybe that's where I'll start?
Yes, I agree . I seem to be able to stack them up much faster than I read them !
I think Bella read Duel With The Devil. If I recall correctly, she rated it highly. I have that one, and The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder on my tbr.
