So sorry, I did take off and forgot to tell you after all... it got a bit hectic and my computer has been screwing with me on top of that. XD But I just got back and am ready to go whenever you want to start. :)

I've only read a 1/4 but so far so good. It's an interesting concept of magic physically hurting you when you use it.

I'm 80% in and can't figure out who's the bad guy. This has very unique world building! I like it but I suspect it's one of the UF's that takes off in book 2.

I haven't gotten around to reading that much these past couple of days, so I'm only at about 40%, but I do agree with you regarding the world building! It's definitely an intriguing concept, and I'm enjoying the book so far.

Finished last night. I never could wrap my head around her relationship with Zay. One minute they're like soul mates the next minute she thinks he's with her for her inheritance. It's a very odd relationship! I think book 2 will be excellent since this one had to set up the characters and world building. It was nice too not to have your typical paranormal creatures in it.

I finished it yesterday and was also torn between 3 and 4 stars for the rating, but I did enjoy it a lot.
The romance part didn't really work that well for me, probably because I didn't really like Zay all that much - his character frustrated me at least as much as it did Allie! XD
I really loved the world building and the uniqueness of the magic system, it was refreshingly different from much of the other UF stuff out there. Definitely very entertaining, looking forward to the next book! :)

That sums up my feelings too! I was torn between 3 and 4 stars also! That's why I think book 2 will be really good. Sometimes UF is that way.
