The Docks
Daniel sat on the end of the dock, his feet dipped in the water. He often came out here to get away from his nagging parents and the unusual clamor of the town. He loved being close to the water, watching the boats rock against the wooden dock. And around here there was almost no one to bother him except the occasional fisherman that walked by on his way home from work. But aside from that and the sound of water hitting the dock, the surrounding area remained quiet, just the way Daniel liked it. He found a small rock on the dock next to him and skipped it across the water then watched it sink below the waves. It was kind of depressing to know that he would never see that rock again but the thought left his mind as he noticed that raindrops were falling around him.

((Just waiting for Apoorva to comment. I don't know when she'll be on, though, so I guess I can rp with you while I wait. (: It usually takes me awhile to respond.))
Daniel honestly didn't care that it was raining. It was something that he was familiar with because of the many days he spent out on these docks. He was always waiting for something to happen, he wasn't sure of what exactly, but nothing ever did. Every day out here was always just as uneventful as the last, not that he minded. He was just looking forward to the day that something would change. And maybe today was finally the day. He heard a splashing coming from his right and his icy blue eyes landed on a girl swimming through the water. She was quite graceful and Daniel had to admit that he was initially disappointed that she climbed out, but what she was wearing completely made up for it. "That's a good look!" Daniel called over to her, a smirk on his face. He watched her pull the red dress on and happily noticed that he could see through it because of the water.
Ever looks up slowly at the masculine voice, her pale blue eyes meet his for a moment. In that moment she knows. She knows he's an arse. A sexy arse, but still an arse. Luckily, Ever gets on better with bad people, being one herself. Ever gets up slowly, moving her perfectly curvy body in a way that she knows grabs everyone's attention. Ever doesn't do subtle, it's boring. She walks over to him and sits down leaning back on her hands. Ever looks over at him and meets his gaze completely unembarrassed, she raises a dark eyebrow and says, "So, what secret need did you have that made you think, 'fuck it, lets sit alone by the river?"
Daniel wondered if this girl went to the same school that he did. He hadn't seen her around before but that was probably because he never bothered noticing much. He wasn't the observant type of guy unless he was alone, like he had been a few moments ago. But now the peaceful silence was gone and the girl came over to sit by him, moving as if she expected him to watch her. Apparently she took his greeting as an invitation to come over by him. He supposed that he shouldn't care, that having someone to talk to right now wouldn't kill him. But it was still annoying that she decided to join him. "I like sitting out here. It's nice." Daniel took his eyes away from the girl and looked up at the sky. "Well, it's usually nice. But what, might I ask, are you doing out here?"
Josie walked along the docks, back and forth, carrying cargo to and from the boats. It was hardly a job for a seventeen year old girl, let alone a pregnant one with a prosthetic leg. But she needed the money, and worked whatever jobs she could find, however temporary. Josie took a look around, wishing she could be as carefree as all those people who were enjoying the weather. Those other girls in the pact... They weren't like her. She had only joined because her friends had pushed her into it, and since she was already pregnant at the time she figured it was no big deal. The only problem was that Daniel didn't know he was the father yet, and he was a part of it too. As if he was brought there by her thoughts alone, Josie's eyes set upon the guy she once thought she loved. But of course, like all the others, he had left her. She kept her head down, hoping to god he hasn't caught her staring.
Daniel dropped his gaze back to the river. A hazy fog had drifted over it so he couldn't see very far across. The only thing he could see through the fog was a light, obviously belonging to a boat, that was far away from the docks and seemed to be fading even further away. Daniel was so focused on looking at the river that he wasn't really sure if the girl even responded to his question, so he glanced over in her general direction. Before he could focus his gaze on the girl, his attention was caught by someone else. It was another girl hauling cargo not too far away from them. But it wasn't just any girl. It was Josie, a girl he had dated for quite a long time. Well, long for him, anyways. He had broken things off a little less than a month ago, not ready for a committed relationship. Daniel noticed her look at him and then quickly look away and assumed that Josie didn't exactly want to talk to him right now. He stood up anyways and muttered a quick "be right back" to the girl sitting next to him. Then he made his way over to Josie. He was over her, or at least that's what he told himself, so he didn't know why he was doing this. Daniel had been out drinking last night but the effects couldn't possibly last this long even though the scent of alcohol was still on his breath. "Hey, Josie."
Josie spun around to face the owner of the voice she had just heard. The one she knew so well. Her cheeks reddened immediately as she gazed up at Daniel. "Oh... hi. I didn't expect to see you here Danny. I'm sorry, if I had known I never would have..." She trailed off, refusing to apologize to him further. He had left her, when she had no one else left. All she could rely on anymore was herself. Josie cleared her throat. "Looks like you have someone waiting on you," she said, gesturing to the girl he was speaking to before. "You can get back to her. I have work to do anyways." She turned around, picking up another set of cargo although she still felt his presence behind her. As much as she wanted to tell him she was pregnant, she knew that it would just make him move further away from her. Somehow she couldn't stand the thought of it.
As much as Daniel loved the embarrassment this caused her, he hated listening to Josie apologize to him. What the hell was she even apologizing for? Being there at the same time as him? Great, that's the way their relationship would be from now on. Just constantly avoiding each other for the rest of their lives. "Oh, she can wait for a bit," Daniel said dismissively, getting a bit annoyed that she would just turn her back on him. He didn't come over here to waste time and to be ignored. Ignoring people was what he did best but being ignored was something that irritated him to no end. Daniel crossed his arms and waited for her to face him again. "How are you doing?" He had been gone for the past couple of weeks and still wasn't exactly up-to-date with everything.
Josie sighed, turning back to face him again. She crossed her arms over her stomach subconsciously. "I don't want to keep you from her. I know what she must be feeling, and it isn't very nice at all." She had assumed that the chick was his new girlfriend. It wouldn't surprise her. Leave it to Daniel to get over her in a matter of weeks. It hadn't even been a month yet. "I'm fine," Josie said, a little too forcefully. "Since when have you actually cared what other people feel, Danny?" She cringed on the inside. Even though he was a player, when they were together he really wasn't as bad as she was now making him out to be. But she wouldn't make any moves to take back what she had said.
Daniel was glad that she had the decency to at least turn back around and look at him. "What do you mean?" he asked, referring to the first part of what she said. Then he realized what she sort of hinted at. "Oh, you think we're dating or something? Uh, no. I actually just met her about five minutes ago." The tone of her voice almost made him take a step back. Daniel wasn't really suprised that Josie was acting all pissed off. Who wouldn't after the way he dumped her? He had always been a cold hearted guy and it showed with his emotionless breakup. "I've never cared, Josie. I just figured that asking would make you happy. I obviously thought wrong. And we don't have much else to talk about, so why not ask?"
Josie felt an odd relief that the girl wasn't his girlfriend. But then he had to go and say more. She took a step back, letting the pain she felt at his comment show for half a second before concealing it again, burying as deep in her mind as she could. "You... You never cared?" She had a feeling that he was talking about her specifically. Josie smirked. "If we don't have much else to talk about, and you obviously don't want to talk to me anyways, why don't you leave me the hell alone? Don't you have some other girl to go get into bed?" Although she said it, a part of her was worried that if he left now, she would never see him again.
((Lol no problem... It's so funny seeing your comments. ^_^ I just had too much fun with that comment though haha.))
Josie was usually pretty good at hiding her feelings but Daniel's comment obviously had some impact on her. He almost felt bad but then he decided that saying anything to take his words back would make him look weak and he didn't want to do that, especially in front of Josie. "Exactly. I never have and I never will." Josie's sudden smirk threw him off guard. Okay, maybe he shouldn't have said that they had nothing to talk about. That was basically an invitation for dismissal. "Ouch. You don't want people to judge you but you just go and do it to me. Classy." He looked away from her and back out to the water. The boat was gone now and there was no sign that it had ever been there. "I like talking to you. Your attitude is.... refreshing."
Josie looked away, letting her hair conceal her expression. "Well I guess our relationship was one-sided the whole time then. I sure did care about you." A part of her still did. She was glad to see at least one of them was doing alright. It was the truth, and the truth often hurt more than all the lies she had thrown at him so far. "Judging? Don't you talk to me about judging. People judge me every day, they think they know everything about me. None of you do, you spoiled little rich kids." Josie looked straight at him. "You're a perfect example, actually. You left me like all the others. Every damn relationship I've had ended because guys just don't want a poor girl with one leg. That's it, right? All the other girls seem to have had more time with you. Not that I care." She ignored his comment about her attitude, surprising herself by saying so much.
"Well, that's nice to know." Daniel wasn't in the mood to keep talking about feelings. Especially feelings that had passed long ago. How did they even get to this topic? Daniel couldn't remember but it didn't matter anyways. "If you think that's the reason I broke up with you, you're wrong. But if it makes you feel any better just keep telling yourself that." He half smiled, shaking his head. "You always blame your failed relationships on your leg. Did you ever think that someone might break up with you because you have completely opposite personalities?" Daniel debated sitting down on the dock next to the cargo but decided against it. He would be going soon so he saw no point in it. "Josie, why did you sleep with me if you knew that most of your relationships ended badly? What was the point?"
Josie frowned. "You don't know a thing about my other relationships Danny. You were the one person who never mentioned it or treated me differently because of it. When you left I just figured it finally hit you." She shrugged. His questions hit her pretty hard. "What was the point? Everything is just so... Mechanical to you. Well, Danny, what was the point of you sleeping with me? To knock me up for your pleasure and then leave? Well, congratulations." She shook her head, turning around, picking up the cargo, and heading to the same boat as before without looking back.
Daniel sighed, exasperated. He was starting to get a headache from all this snapping back and forth. He tapped his foot against the wooden dock as he tried to think about how to respond. Josie wasn't making this very easy for him. "I never mentioned it because it didn't bother me. I don't understand why you would think that it did." He watched Josie for a moment, his eyes following her every move. Daniel froze at what Josie said next, trying to process this new information. "You're.... pregnant?" He recovered from the shock a few seconds later and followed Josie to the boat. "And you think I did it on purpose." Shit, he hadn't meant to get Josie pregnant. The other girls he slept with, sure, but not Josie.
Josie frowned. "Oh so now you care to ask?" She was so frustrated about how he just had to come up to her and talk. What, did he just want to rub it in that he had moved on while she was still here, miserable? "Just leave me alone, Danny, you've said enough." She delivered the cargo quickly to the boat and headed back up, pushing past Daniel. He was honestly making it so hard for her right then. There was no way she was letting him have the satisfaction of seeing her cry, but hiding what she felt had never been a problem with her. Josie decided she was done for the day, and would just take whatever pay they would give her. Hopefully it was enough to pay a portion of her rent.
Daniel still couldn't believe it. Josie, pregnant. That would explain why she was acting so angry with him. Most girls that he broke up with were upset for a week at most but they moved on and Daniel did the same. But Josie was an entirely different story. "Fine, I'm sorry for bugging you." He decided to listen to Josie for once and he didn't follow her. She needed some space for awhile and he frankly didn't want to be involved with her right now. He returned to his previous spot on the dock and sat down again, dipping his feet in the water. "Women," he mumbled under his breath, unable to think of anything else to say. He glanced over at the girl that he had been talking to before.
((Gotta go!))
((Gotta go!))
Josie watched him walk away from her. "Sorry," she aid after him, although he probably hadn't heard her. Of course, if it came down to it with the baby and all, Josie knew she would never resort to asking Daniel for money unless it was completely necessary. A baby? She thought. There's no way I can do this.((Yeah same lol it's so late!))

Ever watches them, the talk seems heated but Ever doesn't listen in. She isn't into relationship bullshit or teenage drama. Plus it's none of her business anyway. When he sits next to her Ever looks over at him. Her thoughts are still the same. He's a gorgeous arse. Ever's hair has dried out a bit now and is still long and beautiful as ever. She runs a hand through it, her dark red lips part as she says, "Bad break ups eh...they're almost as bad as couples who actually WORK. I swear you watch a happy couple and it's like watching penguins on the dicovery channel. A force of nature that i'll never be a part of if i can help it", she watches him with her crystal blue eyes intently. Ever wonders why she even came over in the first place, then she remembers, to piss him off. Ever knows boys like this one, they get sensitive about almost everything. Ever has never cared what people think about her, it's just not something she's willing to waste her time on. She wonders if he'll reply with something annoying like most people do, or if he'll answer in a way that will make sitting here worth it.
Calliope slowly approached the dock, with a subtle smile. Her heart felt at rest in a happy and calm way. She tugged at her ponytail, finally let her hair free in the wind. She let it fly, and the sun glowed on her skin, making it radiant. She felt great.
((Yeah))
Daniel ignored what Josie said to him and turned his attention to the water. He felt like absolute shit right now. And not just because he found out that Josie was pregnant. Although that might have something to do with it. He took his feet out of the water and reluctantly put his shoes back on. Then he turned to face the girl and stretched his legs out in front of himself. "A bad break up for her, maybe. But that's how things usually end." Daniel really needed to get his mind off of Josie, so he tried his best to focus on the girl this time. He probably seemed really rude before but in the brief time that he had been talking to her, he realized that she didn't care. And he liked that about her, despite the fact that she was obviously trying to get on his nerves. Her words annoyed him in the slightest bit but he ignored that part of what she said. "You don't believe in relationships working out? Well, that makes two of us." He looked into her light blue eyes. "I didn't catch your name."

Calliope heard her mothers call. She winced and sighed. "Can I ever get a moment alone?" She muttered and finally made her way home. Her steps were slow and she kicked sand softly as she made her way back.
Ever smirks slightly, it's obvious he's using this situation to take his mind of something actually important. But Ever doesn't ask because a-she doesn't really give a shit and b-it's still not her buisness. She arches an eyebrow and says, "No, i don't believe in MY relationships working. It's not something i've ever really wanted. But it probably works for some, not my place to judge the laws of the universe. I just live here, i don't control it. I look after myself, i do whatever the fuck i want, simple as." she says with a shrug, because its the truth. "And i'm Ever. Remember that, there's going to be a test" she teases, guessing this boy has a whole list of girls names he doesn't remember.
Daniel was glad that this little chat was entertaining her, at least. He had to admit that she was also beginning to captivate him. "I usually don't give my relationships a chance to work. Short and sweet, that's what I like. Although I tend to cut certain girls some slack." He gave her a pointed look. That was total bullshit and he knew it, but it was still worth saying. "I fail miserably at tests, so don't expect too much. But in all honesty, you don't seem like the girl that's easy to forget." He smiled and stood up. It wasn't as if he had anything else to do, but listening to one girl talk for too long wasn't exactly his favorite thing to do. "Just tell me one thing before I go. You aren't pregnant too, are you?"
((Did you want them to meet somewhere else, or should that be it? I'm okay with anything really, so it's up to you what their relationship should be like.))
Ever stands as well, she makes a sound at the back of her throat at his question. This bloke is a player no question. Ever stands in front of him, still wet from the river, her gaze dangerous and wild as always, she says "You're used to it aren't you. Being listened to, playing the player who might just change one day. Bet you've met plenty of girls who have a bit of guts, who say they don't care if you're an arsehole, when what they really mean is that they think they might be the one to change you. Forget that shit. Maybe see you.....boy" she emphasis boy to piss him off. She trails a hand over his chest and begins to walk away but then turns at the last minute and says over her shoulder "In answer to your question, I have to say that, it's none of your fucking buisness". With that she gives him one last smirk before walking away.
Daniel grinned at her words. She just described him perfectly. He was kind of suprised that she picked all of that up from just talking to him for a few minutes. Most girls just giggled and twirled their hair around him, but he was thoroughly enjoying the way that Ever was treating him. It was different and.... nice. He was sure that Ever wasn't pregnant based on her snarky attitude, so that was a good thing. This whole conversation made for a better chance of getting Ever to be another one of the girls that he had wrapped around his finger, but he still knew that it would take quite the effort to do that. Maybe it was more work than it was worth. "This isn't an act, sweetheart. This is me!" he called after Ever, but his words were an obvious lie. It wasn't as if he minded lying to her, anyways, because she was purposely trying to get to him. And succeeding at doing that, he might add. He watched her walk away, half amused and half pissed off. There was no way in hell that Daniel would ever forget this girl, that was for certain.
((Okay.... Or they could talk at the cafe or something? I don't mind where, you can pick. (: Can you post first?))

The place where many people earn their livings, either aboard a boat or taking back the cargo.
