Ariana entered the common room from the lobby door. She glanced around, appraising the area. It was pretty nice, she decided, with luxurious couches and an enormous TV. The floor was covered with a thick, fluffy carpet that made Ariana want to kick off her shoes and dig her toes into it, but of course she didn't. Instead, she flopped onto a couch, put up her feet on a nearby ottoman, and turned on the TV. She flicked through the channels but wasn't finding anything she liked, so she turned it off. Ariana tilted her head back and closed her eyes, thinking. She wasn't quite ready to go to her dorm, which, according to her packet, was number 101, but she didn't have anything else to do. So here she was, contemplating her first day at Kale Ivy.
((Yeah sure? You can post first with her then and I'll go after you. In on my phone so it might take a while. Sorry :( my sister needs to print stuff with my laptop))
Anastasia walked in, immediately recognizing Ariana, the girl who she met at the dance. She walked casually beside her and sat down. "Hey." She said
Flipping her hair back,Serenity walked into the commons with her perfect yet natural strut. Smiling politely at the two girls she took off her flats and accompanied he love seat. Whipping out her phone she quickly checked all her text messages, replying only to a select few. Glancing at the girls she remembered one as Sadie's pet and the other? She didn't know. Obviously she was fresh meat even if she wasn't a freshie. She knew everyone especially if on her team. Not to sound arrogant but it is how it is. She's one of the more popular people on campus and a people person. Besides she's also Vice President, if she didn't know you, it's because your new. That's just how it is. The freshman this year wouldn't know what hit them during iniation. It seemed hers was so long ago.
Ariana opened her eyes quickly. She glanced to her right and saw the girl who was at the dance last night, the girl with a ton of energy and a huge smile. "Hi," she said, in a nonchalant tone - not warm and friendly but not dismissive either. "Anastasia, hmm?" Ariana knew perfectly well that the girl's name was Anastasia, but the first rule of popularity was that you make people want you to know them - you don't just go around knowing every single person's name.A few moments later, Serenity walked into the commons. Now, Serenity wasn't new, and she was popular. She was someone to suck up to, if anyone was. "Hi, Serenity," Ariana said in a slightly more cheerful tone, as the older girl sat down and pulled out her phone.
Anastasia looked away from Ariana to Serenity. She looked popular because she was. Anastasia sat up and remembered to look at her phone. Sh put it down and also looked at the girl she had never met but heard about . "Hey Serenity."(( She's a drama queen right?))
(Serenity? Mhm)Just as she was about to check her Instagram, Serenity heard the two freshman girls call out t o her. Looking up, she first looked at the girl she didn't know,"Hey "She gave her a nod before the turning her attention too the other one. This one... Why did she recognize her? Oh! Sadie's girl! Yeah, Lydia told her about this one and she gave her a wider smile,"I remember you from the dance. I saw you at the fountain when I was hanging out with some friends. I must say, spending the night with Sadie is quite a feat. And I hear she likes you, another good thing." She smiled at her again. It's not that she didn't like Sadie just that the girl could be a handful sometimes of you weren't the right person.
"I'm afraid, however, I don't know either of your names,"She spoke softly but confident, a confidence that comes with being a model and having to take dozens of pictures and see them around everywhere. She, however, didn't ask how they knew her's. Around here, if you're in then everybody knows your name, this is how it works.
"Anastasia." She said kind of annoyed that both girls were ignoring her. She got on her phone and began to text various people. She pursed her red lips and looked up.(( Anastasia is drama queen to, she's a junior not a freshman though :):):) ))
Ariana grinned the most genuine grin she could. "Sadie's amazing," she said. And kind of intimidating, she added in her head, but of course she didn't say that. Ariana had learned caution at her middle school if she hadn't learned anything else. Whatever you said - even if it seemed like the most harmless thing at the time - could come around and slap you in the face. Especially if what you said was about one of the most popular girls in school."I'm Ariana," she told Serenity. She looked around. Both Anastasia and Serenity had their phones out now. Ariana didn't really have people to text - she didn't have any really good friends back home - but she pulled out her phone and studied its screen, doing nothing.
((Isn't it her first year though?))Serenity gave a disapproving glance at Anastasia as she pulled out her phone during their talk. Now that was rude so she smiled at Ariana who seemed unsure of what to do. "Well it's nice to meet you both,"She told them and stood up, taking the control from the coffee table and turning on the t.v. "I hope you guys are liking it here. I mean,"She cocked her head. "The fun is just beginning, you really have seen nothing yet. The dance? Now that was something minor,"She winked at them. Especially for them, they still awaited initiation.
"I however can assure you, you'll enjoy your time on our team. I'm Vice President in case you didn't know and Lydia is President. I wouldn't want you two to think too badly of us,"She teased them softly. "And I assume Sadie has told you both the rules by now?" She raised an eyebrow questioningly.
Anastasia immediately put her phone away. " Oh I love it here, so much better than any other private school I've attended. " she said. " And yes Sadie did explain a select few things to me."
Ariana awkwardly slipped her phone back into her pocket. It's not like she had been doing anything with it, anyway. "It's amazing here, so far," she said earnestly. "I'm so excited to start the year!" She looked at Serenity, then at Anastasia. From what she'd seen, her team seemed pretty cool. Especially since it was, according to Sadie, the best at Kale Ivy Institute. "Yeah," she continued, "I'm pretty sure Saide told me most of the rules. Like, no associating with other teams, right?"
Serenity shrugged,"A lot of people don't listen to that one. There's just a kind of a limit. Like don't get too close to one of the other teams and don't tell then our secrets,"She told them as she flipped through the channels. "Anyways,"She smiled at them,"You two look like good girls. I think you'll be a good addition to the team,"She checked her purse for gum but sighed when she didn't find any. "Hey do any of you guys have gum?"
"Um. Yeah," Ariana said, a little surprised by the change of subject. But she was very flattered that Serenity thought she seemed like a good girl. She made it a point to carry gum around wherever she went: you never know when it could come in handy. Reaching into her own small handbag, she found two packets of gum. "Strawberry or mint?"
"You carry two packets of gum with you?" Serenity asked and raised an eyebrow, all serious. "I like you already,"She laughed. "Strawberry if you please,"She loved gum and it was rare when she was without it. However her manager had made she cut back on it during the summer so now she would catch up on her chewing. Lucky for her, her teeth were strong and healthy as she always gets he. Check ups and nothing is wrong.
(( sorry I'm back :p ))Anastasia did have gum but Ariana jumped at the offer first. She was flattered that serenity had referred to her as a good girl. "So serenity, do people here throw good parties?" She asked not trying to be awkward but trying to start a conversation.
"Yep. At all times." Ariana took a stick of strawberry gum and handed it to Serenity with a smile. Gum, she had found over the years, was a valuable bargaining chip, as well as a way to 'buy' your popularity. Ariana herself didn't chew it often, which was why her gum tended to last her for ages.
"Thanks,"Serenity took the gum from her and quickly popped it into her mouth. She turned her attention to Anastasia,"Good parties?" Her eyes had an amused look as in, did she really just ask that- amused. "This is Kale girls. If one thing, we're better than the best. So to answer your question yes, there are some great parties here." Her smiles probably have her way but this one said- 'newbies smh.' "As you can probably tell, reputations mean everything here to people. It's like Hollywood, good reputation then good press, bad reputation and no one wants to hire you. People are always trying to Outdo each other. It doesn't matter if you were invited to the last party. If your not invited to the current party then your no longer a person of importance." She leaned back against her chair,"It's all a matter of knowing the right people."
Anastasia nodded. "You've that got right, but I'm glad this place just has good parties." She said leaning back into her chair thinking of what Serenity had said.
Kale. Better than the best. Ariana grinned to herself. Of course her parents wouldn't have bothered to send her anywhere that wasn't extraordinary, but she was ecstatic to start the school year by now. And parties! Middle school parties were admittedly not the most exciting, and of course there were never any middle schoolers at high school parties. Ariana had read her fair share about what was awaiting her in high school, and so far everything at Kale Ivy had surpassed her expectations. Hmm, knowing the right people, Serenity said. Did Ariana know Sadie well enough? How about Serenity? Now seemed to be the time to suck up to people.
Serenity smiled as she got up,"Well I have to run. People are waiting for me," She told them as she got a text. "Keep the gum by the way,"She informed Ariana. "Bye girls," It wasn't purposely but she didn't say the girls name individually. Nor would she say she would see them around. Serenity was a sweet girl, everyone knew that but sometimes she confused people.
Ariana was disappointed Serenity was leaving - she'd been hoping to get to ow her upperclassmen front he start - but she was also partially glad, because she had no clue how to strike up a half-intelligent conversation with someone who already knew they were at the top of the school. She reached for the remote and turned off the TV, which Serenity had left on. It wasn't that Ariana disliked television or anything; it was entertaining when there was something good on. There was not, however, anything good on at the moment, as she had found out earlier. In Ariana's pocket was her phone, but that was also pretty useless, as she had no one to text. That left Anastasia as an entertainment option. Ariana glanced at the girl discreetly, out of the corner of her eye. She wondered if she should have been so abrupt a minute ago. Obviously, Anastasia knew how popularity worked, and she had an excellent sense of style. Well. Ariana didn't want to go to her dorm yet, so this would work fine.
"So, are you excited to start the school year?" Ariana asked Anastasia, in a far warmer tone than earlier. She thought the question she'd just asked wasn't a half-bad conversation starter - it gave Anastasia the chance to talk about academics, if she was into that, social life, or other things that could happen during the coming school year.
She looked at Ariana, "Actually I am "excited" in many ways. My old so was drop dead lame. So I was finally glad to get out of there. Now that I know this place has good parties, It's made me happy. Hopefully there are some partially cute boys here. I hate it when nerds try to ask you out, Ugh, the glasses and pimples kill me." She said rolling her eyes. Anastasia liked Ariana. She was careful on what she said and to who she said it." So what about you? What's it like being Sadie's 'BFF'?"
Ariana didn't really understand Anastasia obsession with good parties. A party was a party, right? It could be as good as you made it. But apparently not. It wasn't like Ariana knew much about parties. Or high school. Heck, she'd never even been kissed. True, she'd been popular in her middle school, and had had a couple of boyfriends, but she was the aloof kind of popular. As in, everybody knew her but nobody really knew her. That's what Ariana was hoping would be different in high school. She nodded at Anastasia's words. "Nerdy guys. Ugh." Okay, so, Ariana didn't know very many (if any) nerdy guys, and none had ever dared to ask her out. But she understood what Anastasia was getting at."I don't think I'm Sadie's BFF," she said in answer to Anastasia's question. "After all, i just met her last night. But Sadie is pretty awesome." And popular. And the perfect connection for getting "in" with the crowd.
"She does seem like it. Too bad I arrived late to the dance. Anyway what's in it for you at this school? Any sports you like or anything?" She asked trying to sound like a lame grandmother.
"I'm not very sporty," Ariana said nonchalantly. "Just average." She didn't excel in academics, but she was alright in them. This year she had resolved to study extra hard - something about the new-school-new-life mindset. Then again, Ariana also wants to have a life, and it seemed like she was getting in eight he right people in order to do that. "What about you?" she asked Anastasia.
" Yeah I'm kind of athletic. But I'm interested with the team thing going on her. I didn't get the explanation on all that. Did someone tell you about the team rivalries, because I'm lost?"
"Well, I don't know the reason, but we basically hate everyone who's not on our team and we play pranks on them and stuff. And the Black Gavels are the best at it." Ariana shrugged. She didn't know anything more than Sadie had told her the previous night. She figured it would all clear up as the school year progressed and she got her information by experience.
Anastasia nodded. "So you're a freshman huh? I'm new, but basically I'm a senior." She said thinking about how she had missed out on three wonderful years at this school. If only her parents had found it faster.
"Yeah, I'm a freshman," Ariana said, and trailed off, thinking. "Well, I should probably go check out my dorm. It was really nice talking to you, Anastasia," she said sincerely. She gave the older girl a quick smile before walking out the door to the girls' dorms((Sorry that was kinda abrupt, I just wanted to free up some charries. Also, sorry it took me so long to reply.))

It's set up much like the lobby, but a bit more gender specific.
