First Book: Mistborn

Hey Jason! I'll check out Mistborn and see if I'm down. I just bought The Blade Itself, I know there are three books but I can't remember right now if it's a trilogy or series. Anyway, I was going to start that next so there's my suggestion. :)
What's it about? Could be a good read. Have you read Mistborn yet? I am only a hundred pages deep and it seems very solid.
Hey Jason. Read Mistborn last month and it was a great book. Also read The Blade Itself awhile back and yes it is part of a trilogy. Both were excellent books. I'm currently finishing up The Hero of Ages (the last of the Mistborn trilogy).
I am suggesting Mistborn as our first book, but does anyone have any other suggestions.
I know Cassidy mentioned the Blade Itself. Perhaps we could get a few more ideas and then throw a poll up?

I just joined this group and have not even introduced myself yet, but wanted to make a comment and a suggestion. I have recently finished Joe Abercombie's First Law trilogy which I hope is a series, as it ends with much unanswered. I strongly recommend this new author, especially if you like gray characters, ie, not good OR evil, not heroes OR anti-heroes ... The Blade Itself would be a good choice. Two other new authors I have read who write non-Tolkienian fantasy are Brent Weeks and the Night Angle Trilogy - a single story in 3 volumes which is the best high fantasy I have read since ... donno anyway it is brilliant, to borrow some British slang.
And, the other is Peter V. Brett's {book"The Warded Man"], an outstanding 1st book which I think may win the Gemmell award. I hope he is a fast writer, because I am already needing to read the next and the next books in the series.
I have not read anything by Brandon Sanderson and he looks like an interesting author to discover.

I'm definitely down for Mistborn, as I read it recently but too late to discuss it with the Fantasy Book Club. It's a great piece of fantasy literature. The Abercrombie, Brett, and Weeks choices are intriguing options too...
I'm good with any of those. I have either read them or they are sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read. If I were to put a vote in, it would be for Weeks though.
Hey All, I am going to post a poll on Tuesday to vote on the book, and then hopefully have the reading section broke down a few days after that. So post any other ideas for books you have here.
I think Mistborn is a great choice especially since if you look at it from a "writing" perspective Sanderson does some very interesting things.
Sanderson does some great work with his charachters in the story. I was really impressed with his writing. I have a first printing, and there are about 6 typo, which for some reason I always remember.
I will probably vote for Mistborn, but would be ok with any of the other suggestions as well.
