Hello book lovers! My name is Cindy and I started this group out of frustration from falling behind on group/buddy reads. I wanted to create a place for people who lack spare time and/or just don't read quite as fast as their friends. Feel free to tell the group something about yourself (genres read, favorite authors, etc). I have been hooked on horror/thrillers lately myself. Read all genres, but more fiction than non-fiction. This is the first group I've created, so bear with me and I will add discussions a little at a time. Just have fun!

I've been wanting to do this for a while Chuck, but I wasn't sure I would be able to figure out how to do the group thing. Thanks for joining!

Love all types of book my crime thrillers are my favourite. Karin Slaughter especially
Welcome to the group Nishtha and Sam!

Thank you Evans, for the invite. A recommendation from you is always welcome!

The speed at which I read is largely determined by my interest level. If I am really into the book I get ravenous and chew through it. I hate not to finish something so if I do not like the book I slog through at a snail's pace. Love sci fi, Dystopian, post apocalyptic, thriller and action/adventure. Parody and farcical are good too. Looking forward to the group.

Nice to meet you all.

I'm Evans, and want to say thanks to Cindy for the invitation to join this group.
Since I'm a writer who also loves to read, time is a constant battlefield: do I spend it reading the ever-growing stack of wonderful books on my nightstand and Kindle, or do I spend it working on finishing my next project? I try to do both, which means reading time gets cut in half (or more).
Like Edward Lorn mentioned above, audiobooks have been another way for me to pack a little more reading time into my life lately. Instead of wasting time behind the wheel, I've been working my way through some good books in the car. Currently listening to some Richard Laymon in the car (THE CELLAR) and about to finish up Joe Hill's exquisite NOS4A2 at home on my Kindle Paperwhite (the first ereader I've had good luck with).
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know everyone here, making some new friends, and discovering some great new authors and books.

Hi Evans.
Nice to see you and Edward both here! Is Adam going to drop in?

Evans Light invited me. This seems like the perfect group for me. I'm always writing, rarely reading. In fact, I've taken up audioboo..."
Hi E. Nice to bump into you here! Word lovers travel in packs!

Hi Michelle. I'm new here too and I also have a first love for horror and thrillers.
Looking forward to talking books with ya.

My name is Amy. I have two young kids, but am not really a slow reader. I've just become passionate about books over the last year and a half and I'm always on the look out for great books.
Thanks Evans for the invite!
I huge shout out to Evans for helping me get this group going. I came home from a day out at the zoo and had a bunch of posts here. Welcome to everyone! I am excited about the group and look forward to discussing books with all of you.

Tara - there are several ways to read a book in this group at your own pace without the time constraint pressure.
1. Find a buddy who is interested in the same book you would like to read and who reads at a similar pace. I have started a section entitled "buddy reads".
2. I am going to post a couple of group reads a month (maybe three if they aren't too long). The group reads will have a start and end date that should be comfortable for most people. Also, I will start a discussion on the book and you can post comments at your own leisure.
3. Read a book solo and start a discussion of that particular book under the books thread.

I too will switch back and forth from fiction to nonfiction and don't care a lot for romance. Welcome to the group Rick.

I'm Jane. Thank you for the invite Evans. I love all different genres. I'm a mom of 3 children, my middle child is a profoundly disabled adult son living at home and needs full time care. I'm not a slow reader but I like having lots of time to read a book without pressure.
This looks like a great group can't wait to do some buddy reads or group reads.

My name is Kristen and I work as a toddler teacher and that keeps me pretty busy so I don't get to read as much as I would like to or as fast as I would like to. Thanks for the invite to the group.

My name is Valerie and I am a legal secretary, I have a 10 year old who keeps me very busy. This is perfect for me. I love to read!! Evans Light invited me. Thanks Evan!

Hey Sherry! Nice to see ya here. Evans was awesome to let us know about this great group!

So to start the ball rolling - I am from tropical North Queensland in Australia - a small city called Townsville.
Welcome everyone! Sorry I was a bit late checking in tonight, but it's been a rough day. Sharon, you do have a valid point on the location problem. I didn't notice this myself until I a few of the authors were discussing it in some of the groups. Anyway, I'm from the United States. Always wanted to take a trip to Australia. Still on my wishlist.

So what ar we reading?

Good to see you. lol

Sherry what is your blog address I blog myself and love reading other blogs."
Hi Sam. Stop on by and we'll talk. LOL

I hope to get to know some of you! :) I'm in a couple groups that are small groups. But I can never do the group reads and feel like I can't keep up. This group might be perfect.

I'm actually a fast reader (usually) and read quite a bit. I have a group on Shelfari that reads one horror book per week. I don't only read horror-I do enjoy some true crime, biographies, mysteries, and fantasy, but horror will always be my first love.
Giving a shout out to E! *waving*
