Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Let's all gather here and talk about what we did instead.

I found this new website - http://www.wikipedia.org - and read up on information about:

German finance
Engelbert Humperdinck
Brazilian deforestation rates in suburban demographics
Cheese

Robert Spake (ManofYesterday) | 328 comments I like cheese. What are your favourite types? Mine are Mexicana and Applewood.

Today I finished reading The Last Gift, wrote, polished off a cover for a new novel and started reading the Game of Thrones books.

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I did some really exciting ironing.

message 4: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I'm about to eat a mint whip.

message 5: by Michael (last edited Jun 22, 2013 01:59PM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I've had Mexicana cheese in Sainsburys before, actually. The cheese itself is somewhat disappointing, but the chillis manage to redeem it to one degree or another.

It sells for approximately £6 a kilo.

message 6: by Michael (last edited Jun 22, 2013 02:01PM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments From where did you purchase this mint whip, Rosen?

Lynne - what brand of iron is it, and what is its wattage rating? I once bought a pink iron from Argos, on the basis that it was the most powerful iron they had in stock at the time.

Yeah, I just like it because it's spicy. Doesn't really work with pickle though.

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Damn. I wish I had stayed at home now.

message 9: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I did some crafting, baking to go in the freezer then wrote a review!
No time to read today so must have an early night and remedy that.
Nite, nite all!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments poor Simon is sitting here listening to me giggle

message 11: by David (new)

David Staniforth (davidstaniforth) | 7935 comments I went to a neighbours 60th birthday party, and drank free champagne.

message 12: by Michael (last edited Jun 22, 2013 02:13PM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Simon, you young people are prone to doing rash things so I won't hold it against you. Now clear off and eat your Chinese.

Philip/Sarah - Enjoy your sleep.

Patti - do your modmin powers stay with you across every continent?

David - top work there my lad, your experience alone beats anything them other lot did at their meeting.

message 13: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Michael wrote: "From where did you purchase this mint whip, Rosen?"

M&S. There's a whip anniversary happening.

message 14: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Walked in Tansley Dale and Tideswell Dale, saw more early purple and common spotted orchids than you could shake a sandwich at, lots of tiny white stars of lead-wort, the bigger meadow saxifrage - had a brill dinner after and there's all tomorrow untouched yet!

message 15: by Michael (last edited Jun 22, 2013 02:23PM) (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments I can well imagine that a mint whip from M&S would cost a pretty penny. I recommend purchasing one from LIDL in the future as they are much cheaper in there. Since the beginning of last year they've been using fructose syrup instead of natural sugarbeet, so it might give you diabetes.

Ignite - you used eight words that I've never seen before, but it sounds as if you had a jolly good time anyway.

message 16: by Shaun (new)

Shaun (shaunjeffrey) | 2467 comments I went to a super meeting and met some super people - oh, sorry, wrong thread ;)

Kay (Golden Girl) | 2193 comments I went to the shop Dunelm and bought a fitted sheet for my bed ,and a mop that when I got home realised it was broken so have to take it back tomorrow, and I have done some knitting and washing ,
Good night Sarah and everyone else that didn,t go to Biggleswade

message 18: by Tim (new)

Tim | 8539 comments I went on a nice train ride and ended up in... the wrong thread ;)

message 19: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments I almost posted in Shaun's thread "FINE! I'm making a thread for the awesome people who couldn't make it! We don't need your thread!", then saw this!

Go Michael! (:

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Im giggling again. your fault Katy. :-D

message 21: by Beverley (new)

Beverley Carter | 186 comments Can't remember what I did today. Hmmmm. Whatever it was it can't have been very exciting.

Joke! I admit it, I went to the thingy and it was FAB! If I've made anyone feel jealous, soz etc! :)

message 22: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments I was working on Stu's next cover. That was after visiting my aged parents, doing the shopping and hanging out the washing.

Wish I could have been there, though. Next one should be in Perth, Western Australia, hey?

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8593 comments I went to pick up some bags of weeds that one of the volunteers (who doesn't have a car) had left beside the bed she looks after. She'd been cutting off the dead leaves of the phormiums - the bags of leaves were so big I could only fit two in the car at once (they are BIG plants). So I had to go to the dump twice. Then I did two lots of washing and mainly worked on the judges' portfolio all day. Except when I went out for a walk to take some photos and bought tickets for the Fringe by the Sea in August. At 5.45pm I began preparation of the evening repast and opened a bottle of Grenache.
Of course I should have been at work but a colleague asked me to swap so I'm working today instead. :(

message 24: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments I agree re Perth Katie but the Scottish one would be more convenient ;@)!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments I might get to Perth (the ozzy one) later this year. Please book the breakwater arms up.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'm trying to talk Dave into Oz for Christmas this year. Fly into Perth then go East to fly out again.

This could be doable Katie!

message 27: by Katie (new)

Katie Stewart (katiewstewart) | 817 comments Breakwater Arms, Simon? Is that the one you said you knew in Hillarys?

Let me know when you're coming, both of you! I live 100km out of the city, but I can drive down to meet you.

message 28: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I'll be in Oz from Boxing Day for 3 weeks, woohoo :-)

Lynne (Tigger's Mum) | 4643 comments I sincerely hope the wild carryings-on on this thread for the 'deprived' will not find its way into print!

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Yes. A bar in hillarys that used to think I was a local...

I would prefer Bali for the next meet though :-)

message 31: by B J (new)

B J Burton (bjburton) | 2680 comments I spent all day at the Teignmouth Folk Festival - and I'm going there again today. Which is such a pity as it means that all the exciting things, like ironing & weeding, will have to wait until tomorrow.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Hmmmmm

Bali is doable too.

A colleague has left Azerbaijan to open a spa and yoga centre there. I bet she'd give us really good rates.

Desley (Cat fosterer) (booktigger) | 12662 comments one in the North West next time would be good!!

I had a very hectic day, homed a couple of kittens (nearly 3, but I failed the third person), loads of housework and a very unproductive shopping trip, as they had sold out of most of what i went for!! Didn't get my tea till 9pm.

message 34: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Went to Monk Dale today. Found some rare plants - herb Paris and mountain current for example. It piddled down making the boulder choke marked on the map as a path very treacherous. Still upright though (but me feet ache!)

So I didn't waste the weekend I didn't go to Biggleswade.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8593 comments Ooh herb paris! #plantgeek

message 36: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments I had my brother's birthday party on Saturday - He absolutely loved the cake! Everyone said it was really nice!

Today, I went to my grandma's, as I do every Sunday. Also arranged what i'm doing this week, as mum and her friend are going to Glastonbury this week, and I am looking after mum's friends' children, as well as my brothers. Going to be fun!

So I also didn't waste the weekend I didn't go to Biggleswade! *sticks tongue out at everyone in the 'awesome' thread*

message 37: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I worked for 14 hours straight :( That involved moving forum contents from one site to another and finding out that someone else was doing it at the same time and decided to make the content disappear right in front of my eyes without it appearing in the new forum (I can hear trouble heading my way on Monday) then I had to create new posts for said forum, which involved lots of pictures and tables whose dimensions were never quite right and therefore ended up looking rather messy for the symmetry freak that I am, then doing some moderation work while thinking about you guys gathering all together and having a great time, then I had to deal with a bunch of spammy and very rude gamers, then I had to spend the evening writing articles about gaming for a website, and then eventually came 11pm and shattered me went to bed and watch Offspring to refill my gore batteries, before heading into sleepiland where my son died and I didn't get any rest.

And if you're not feeling sorry enough for me, I'm sure I've forgotten to mention a few things...

message 38: by Jay-me (Janet) (last edited Jun 23, 2013 12:54PM) (new)

Jay-me (Janet) | 3787 comments I've spent the weekend with my mum & sister and her family - I've not seen them since the day after my dad's funeral. We have had a busy weekend walking the dog and visiting a garden centre. I've also spotted some different birds to add to my list.

A north west meet would be good. Although if the Perth one can be arranged for when I visit my cousin that would be good too.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8593 comments I could do north west...

Poor Lorraine :( That sounds right rubbish

message 40: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments I'm in for the next one too :)

message 41: by Karen (new)

Karen Lowe | 1338 comments Have spent weekend sifting through about ten years of paperwork in various carrier bags, for my mum. Trying to get her organised. On the plus side, we had Christmas pud and brandy sauce for dinner :) Lovely June weather.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Really I just did what I've done every weekend for the past couple years. Spent time with all of you. Just this weekend there was a real life group hug!

Next get together, we'll need REALLY long arms!

message 43: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Bloody hell, Lorraine.

Which website or game was all that for?

message 44: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments Hey Michael! I have a job as a moderator, and one of the properties I work for is a gaming community, but I'm not allowed to say :(
The articles are for a friend who's a website designer. She gets me to write stuff about anything, from fashion and cake-making to parenting. At the moment, she's building a website about game consoles and stuff, so that's what I was working on. I don't know the website addy yet, and as I'm no gamer, it's probably not accurate anyway lol :)

message 45: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Ah, fair enough. I'm a gamer and I'm sad to say that the online gaming 'community' is chock full of bile and misery.

I tend to avoid it like the plague.

Incidentally, I reckon if we keep this thread going it could be a rival of 'Morning!' thread. It could grow into a vast, uncontrollable monster.

With me in charge of it.

Another 1051 pages to go and I'll be unstoppable.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Think I'll just pop this thread into the sin bin...

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Michael will be joining Will as a regular then?

message 48: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Versini (lorraineversini) | 8438 comments You've certainly got ambition, Michael ! LOL@Patti cracking the moderator whip !
I think you're right, Michael. But then, on the other side, the gaming community is definitely one of the most passionate out there.
One of the reasons I love it, though, is that I'm learning so many new rude words in French lol!

message 49: by R.M.F. (new)

R.M.F. Brown | 2124 comments I watched paint dry! :)

I was testing out some sample colours ahead of some decorating I did...and I might have cut my toe nails as well. Hard to remember - the weekend was that exciting.

message 50: by R.M.F. (new)

R.M.F. Brown | 2124 comments As a matter of fact, I did cut my toe nails!
