True Love 101 discussion

Okay, so about book 6.

The 23% mark. (view spoiler)[ I didn't honestly think that Atticus was dead but when the PoV switched to Granuaile there for a while, my heart sped up a little. (hide spoiler)]

The Morrigan (don't remember when, maybe 40 or 50%? (view spoiler)[Her death surprised me. I think it hinted at her possibly showing up from the beyond at some point though, or was that just me? Either way, I was sort of saddened by this turn of events. When she was being remembered they said We knew it was the end of an era; the sun cannot shine as bright without a proper darkness to counter it. The world had gone a bit gray. It was a melancholy moment. (hide spoiler)]

The end where Oberon (view spoiler)[got his Wolfhound was awesome. I'm glad it was a wolfhound and not a poodle. I think Atticus needed to give one of his girls a chance, haha. (hide spoiler)]

Oh man! I can't wait till next week to read this one!

I'm totally with you, Stacia... I was flabbergasted when (view spoiler)[the book virtually begins with the Morrigan's death. I really appreciated how Atticus dealt with it, over time... and all the nuances and layers that we realized were part of the Morrigan. So sad that it took her death to appreciate her fully, especially for Atticus. When Goibhniu was making the carving of the Morrigan, it brought tears to my eyes.

Atticus' death... you know, I totally forgot about his charm. So I didn't know what was happening! I was shocked, to say the least. When we switched to Granuaile's POV, I wondered what was happening, too. But I wish that we'd had much more of her POV. I really felt like I got to know her more in this book - finally! It started in the last book, but I was just getting a real sense of her. LOVE that she was referred to as Fierce Girl!

I figured that Atticus couldn't really be dead, since I know there are supposed to be more books. But I didn't know how he was going to get out of this one. (hide spoiler)]

Oberon... boy, that dog can get me every time! (view spoiler)[I was so happy at that ending! I agree, a poodle just isn't the same. Can you imagine the 3 of them running from danger with a POODLE? I can't wait to hear the new wolfhound's thoughts! (hide spoiler)]

What do you think about the (view spoiler)[Fae plot? I was a little irritated that Atticus' going after Midhir took up so much of the end of the book. It bored me, frankly. I get the whole trap thing, and it was different from before, so I learned something. But still... the whole thing with the "dungeon" and then the lion thing (sorry, still having my coffee this morning, so the brain's not fully functional) seemed like a waste of time.

I do find it interesting to know that Midhir and Grundlebeard are dead. I'm not sure who's behind it, but I'm concerned that it's Mannanan mac Lir or someone that we totally trust. What do you think? And what did you think about Atticus' side trip at the end? (hide spoiler)]

I was also a little disappointed (view spoiler)[in not hearing anything more about Malina and her coven. I'm sure Hearne's saving that for another book - Atticus' promise. But that, too, puzzles me. Since Goibhniu and Atticus has the deal and vampires all over Europe are being killed. I figured Atticus would sic them on the Polish vampires... it seems so obvious. We also don't know if Malina and her coven survived the whole Loki attack thing, but I'm assuming they did. No news is good news, as they say. (hide spoiler)]

And hey, (view spoiler)[at least there's one more Druid in the world now! Not sure how I feel about the archdruid being "back", since I think he'll drive everyone batty. But it might be fun if Granuaile and he get along really well - it would drive Atticus mad. I'd also like to see Granuaile benefit from having someone other than Atticus teaching her. (hide spoiler)]

Leif...(view spoiler)[what do you think of all of this? I expect there will need to be a final showdown at some point. Leif is too dangerous and too manipulative; I don't see him being a true ally, which seems to point to someone having to take him out. I can't even say that bothers me, since Leif's personality change post-Thor's death is so asshat. (hide spoiler)]

I'll have to go back to my notes. I did a quick comparison between the ARC and the released book, and I don't see that many differences.

I enjoyed the new characters and the new ways that Atticus and Granuaile deal with them. This book reminded me of why I came to love this series.

This is definitely one of my favs in the series. I really enjoyed the 1st book, and it got me hooked. So I think I have to put it right after that one. But the previous book is right up there.

Okay, lots of thoughts. Let's see...

(view spoiler)[I am right there with you on Granuaile's PoV. She surprised me by bringing a lot to the table. I really liked reading from her PoV.

It will also be interesting to see the new Wolfhound's thoughts. I hope she banters with Oberon - not tonight, I have a headache.

I did skim some of the second half because I don't like when it starts getting back to the world around our team. I had a lot of fun with them on the run in the first half though.

Part of me wants Leif to end up on the good side because I liked him in the beginning but I don't see it happening. You're right about the change.

I would love to see someone else romance Granuaile. I think Atticus needs to fight for his woman. He admits that he loves her, but I think he needs to be hit over the head that she's the one and that he needs to do whatever it takes for her. We don't want another Morrigan incident happening. (hide spoiler)]

And back to book 5 (view spoiler)[I agree that it was another great book. I absolutely loved the entire section where Granuaile was bound to the earth, and then afterward when she was finding out what forms she received.

I do wish we'd had a little bit more detail on the first time she and Atticus had sex but I'm not upset because that's not the type of series the author was writing. But I do wish we'd gotten to see a little bit more intimacy between them. We just know that they hook up now. (hide spoiler)]

I see where you're going with (view spoiler)[Atticus having to fight for Granuaile's attentions. But I think a lot of their relationship will come into play when they're not quite so worried about the Fae plot and who's behind it. They've been on the run since he figured out what she already saw and knew - their bond. That's why I don't think that fighting for her affection will be necessary.

I do expect her to be used as a pawn by whichever Fae is behind all of this. Except that Fae will likely get a surprise when Granuaile brings her fierce.

Yeah, it'd be nice to get a few more details, but you're right - it's not the author's style. He's keeping it strictly YA-V (violence). (hide spoiler)]

Oberon will likely (view spoiler)[have his own share of romantic headaches with the wolfhound. Your line is SO appropo! I'm anticipating lots of giggles from her quipping back, and Atticus reminding O of all the times he bagged on him (A) over humans and love. (hide spoiler)]

Funny thing is, (view spoiler)[I've read some YA with much more detailed sex in terms of content. My guess is he's probably writing from his own personal preference and an action/adventure standpoint. He's probably tailoring the series more to the male population, which is okay, but I wanted to see just more because we'd been waiting so long! (hide spoiler)]

Oooh, good point about (view spoiler)[Atticus getting to remind Oberon of all the times he bagged on Atticus about love and strange mating. (hide spoiler)] This has the potential for a lot of hilarity, I think!
