you should read Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1) by Morgan Rhodes or
Demons at Deadnight (Divinicus Nex Chronicles, #1) by A&E Kirk or Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas or Half-Blood (Covenant, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

message 3: by Misha (new)

Misha (mishaone) Thanks, but all of these seem to be YA books. Is that intentional?

message 4: by Maira (new)

Maira | 5852 comments Mod

Sohaib | 6884 comments @Misha which books have you read as of yet?? Do you like mythology?

message 7: by Arsalan (new)

Arsalan Malik (arsalanahmedmalik) | 57 comments Stubborn Reader of Fantasy, Currently Reading Brian Ruckley's Godless world Trilogy 1 "Winterbirth". Its a good read though quite underrated Winterbirth (The Godless World, #1) by Brian Ruckley

You may try Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Its a series of around 40 books and it is just completely amazing.

message 9: by Shehzad (new)

Shehzad | 648 comments 40 books? wow ! Is it one continuous story?

message 10: by Nitasha (new)

Nitasha Siddiqui | 18 comments No it isn't. Basically there are 6 main themes: 1)Wizards 2) Witches 3) Ancient Civilization 4) DEATH (death is actually a character and always speaks in caps:p) 5) City Watch 6) Industrial Revolution

All the stories of one theme are usually connected and there are some minor links that connect them with the other themes. There is actually a whole reading order guide to follow so you read it in correct order :)

message 11: by Shehzad (new)

Shehzad | 648 comments Haha i'd be lost without a guide. How many have you read so far?

message 12: by Nitasha (new)

Nitasha Siddiqui | 18 comments left with three i think :p just ordered two today but couldn't find the third one yet :/ still searching..

message 13: by Shehzad (new)

Shehzad | 648 comments Ok i'll definitely give it a try :-) is it complete or still going on?

message 14: by Nitasha (new)

Nitasha Siddiqui | 18 comments its still going on.. one book is expected this year..

message 15: by Abdul Haseeb (new)

Abdul Haseeb Ahmed | 16 comments I am surprised no one has mentioned: A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin as yet. With its political maneuvering, twists and turns, by far one of the best epic fantasy series that I have read.

message 16: by Arsalan (new)

Ya a too good Saga but slightly trailing off. Read all 5 books no fantasy like it but I say George RR Martin please finish it now

Personally 40 books are too much.

message 18: by Arsalan (new)

Arsalan Malik (arsalanahmedmalik) | 57 comments Inheritence cycle by Christopher Paolini my first taste of epic fantasy. Starts with Eragon Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1) by Christopher Paolini

Shehzad | 648 comments I've watched the movie as well. It was so so. How's the book @Arsalan? I'm on book 5 of Game of Thrones and I'm inclined too agree with you ;-)

message 21: by Abdul Haseeb (new)

Abdul Haseeb Ahmed | 16 comments @Arsalan agree with u on that one. Have been waiting for book 6 but no sign of it on the horizon. Hopefully George RR Martin will come to his senses and publish it soon. :p

Well Inheritence cycle was a four book series and I'll say all those who like epic and adventurous fantasy it is must read.

message 24: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments @Arsalan inheritance was a good series but after eragon the quality of writing really dwindled down... i hated the secind and the third book.. brisngr was slightly better... Also i wud absolutely discourage you to read "his dark materials" ;-P... I started banging my head by the end of book two :-(

Well Thats some advice. Thanks. On the contrary if you want a small fantasy series and be done with it quicky I say the little known " Godless World Trilogy " Brian Ruckley

message 26: by Sohaib (new)

Sohaib | 6884 comments The theme of the series please but no story or spoilers :-P

message 27: by Ali Khan (new)

Ali Khan | 18 comments Dan Simmons' Hyperion Cantos

Its a genre-defying series with fantasy, science-fiction thrown into a Canterbury Tales style Epic or odyssey.

But its a brilliant series penned by the Master himself. Should never be overlooked.

message 28: by Komal (new)

Komal (k0k0) | 219 comments More people need to read Prince of Thorns (The Broken Empire, #1) by Mark Lawrence .

While the first in the series does little to differentiate itself from a typical fantasy, the second and third are beasts. Best of all, the writing is purely poetic.

message 29: by Maira (new)

Maira | 5852 comments Mod
I agree with komal on this one.

message 30: by Arsalan (new)

Arsalan Malik (arsalanahmedmalik) | 57 comments What is this 1.5 and 2.5 book concept in this series?

message 31: by Salman (new)

Salman Nazir (salman180) | 864 comments @Arsalan they are Novella after book 1 (1.5) and book 2 (2.5) and so on kinda bridge between books sometimes from different prospective then main protagonist.

message 32: by Arsalan (new)

Arsalan Malik (arsalanahmedmalik) | 57 comments Well isn't it a bit awkward concept? why not continue with 1 2 3 in series. This reminds me of Sword of Truth series in which the last book thw writer wrote comes in the first book in chronology

message 33: by Arsalan (new)

Arsalan Malik (arsalanahmedmalik) | 57 comments Aalia wrote: "@Komal right on! I love Prince of Thorns! It is definitely poetic but at the same time, regardless of it being in the fantasy genre... realistic. You don't have a noble hero and a big, bad villain ..."

Well My life seems to play tricks and in the case of sword of truth I got halfway and then joined army and now I just can't bring myself to read it maybe some day. Here Spent 2 whoe semesters with Game of thrones now looking for something special in Fantasy. Maybe R J Dultz or Micheal Sullivan maybe someone else after I'm done with Brian Ruckley's Godless world. And now semester starts on Monday. doomed!!!!

message 34: by Komal (new)

Komal (k0k0) | 219 comments @Alia
Haha, well I think your tastes are superb lady! To the dungeons, all who think differently for this book I say!
It was a very fresh take on Dark Fantasy and it really explores the sides that are not very exposed in the genre.

Maria (mariasaleem) | 11 comments Maira wrote: "I have seen the movie of eragon but havent read the book. didnt get many High recommendations for it."

The film is nothing like the book! The book is obviously better. You shouldn't judge a book by its film adaption. And Eragon film was a flop one anyway. The readers were sorely disappointed. The series was pretty awesome.

I've really wanted to read this series but never get the chance :(

Ayesha | 975 comments I love lux and anything ❤Daemon ❤*dreamy eyes*
I hope they change the ending of Allegiant, will definitely make it more bearable.
Kya kabhi kisi ko yeh baat ajeeb lagi hai ke TFIOS and Divergent trilogy ki casting strange hai.

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments Yep... I always thought they played siblings in Divergent and lovers in TFIOS I discussed it with my friend. She said 'they have no shame'. LOLZ I found it strange but i seriously loved them all ;D

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments ( referring to Shailene and Ansel )

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments Talkin' of TFIOS, have you read it ?

message 44: by Ayesha (new)

Ayesha | 975 comments Who hasn't read it?Actually I started reading again because of all the hype surrounding it.

The Shailene and Ansel thing is sometimes kinda gross. Magar shaid isi waja se film daikhana book parhne se comparatively easy hai.You don't feel like crying at all. I think I cried more watching Me,Earl and the dying girl.

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments Yeah that was a stupid thing to ask.. LOL! I didn't cry at all watching it but I did cry when I read the book. I don't remember I ever cried over while watching a film...But A little tear shed when I watched the last scene of HP's last installment when I realized our journey was over..

message 46: by Ayesha (new)

Ayesha | 975 comments Awww......Can you believe I still haven't watched it.*sigh*

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments What? you haven't watched TFIOS or Harry Potter series ??

message 48: by Ayesha (new)

Ayesha | 975 comments THE LAST HP FILM:(

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments Oh God! NO.. Watch it you're really missing something !

zoha (A book maestro) | 266 comments How can you not BTW :( ?
