OK, I found the orignal latin text, and it seems that the "short" version is correct.http://www.slu.edu/colleges/AS/langua...
The question remains about the "long" version found on goodreads... Is the extra text added to convey subtleties that would otherwise be lost in translation?
Anyways, whichever version you decide to read (I chose the "short" one) I wish you all a good read :)
Im almost finished with dutch translation and so far I like it. I have also the short version I think (because the book is like 170 pages long -excluding the introduction-)
Sure, let's give this a shot. Need to have someone to keep me honest on my reading quests. By when should we have it read?

i'm game. all in favour?
Next Friday maybe? It seems like it's a short enough book. Especially if you read the short version (which I will be doing).
I finished it about a week ago. I started it before the group went silent, thinking that it would be the next group read. I will wait for the post-read discussion.

First thing I have to say is that I noticed a diference between the version available on goodreads (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/30... - thanks to Byron!) is different from the french version I found (I like to read in my first language).
Basically, the goodreads version has a lot more text, for instance, the first meditation is a whole paragraph in english while the french version has only the first sentence. So after checking out on the net, I found this english version which is a lot closer the the french version I found: http://classics.mit.edu/Antoninus/med...
Now, such a diference is not due to "lost in translation" problems as there is clearly a lot of text either added or omitted. Which version do you guys think is closest to the original?
