I'm a Lord of the Rings girl first, but I do like Narnia. I read The lion, the witch, and the wardrobe when I was eight, saw the movies, and ever since then I've been a fan.
I love C.S. Lewis, he is a grrreat author! And I HATE lord of the rings! (no offense) I shall never read the books cause 1, the movies were terrible and everyone who has read the books says they are like the movie, 2, the books are big and TINY words and I don't like those kinda books. Lol!
I read the whole Narnia series in first grade... by myself. I love it.... There is so much to it! I've also read his Space Trilogy, which is a lot meatier and harder to get through.LOTR deserves its own thread, methinks.

On it.

On it.
The Horse and His Boy is my favourite of the Narnia series –– especially with the title making it seem like the horse owns the boy, and not the other way around. hehe...

Love that one... Haven't read it in.... Well, it's been awhile...

Maybe due to my ripe old age of 35 years I am more of a Lord of the Rings fan when it comes to fiction. C.S. Lewis is one of the best you can read when wanting to get a grasp on what is means to be a Christian. I highly recommend Mere Christianity to all Christians. Not only does it strengthen a Christians faith, but also gives the reader the ability to defend his/her faith in the face of opposition. We face this daily in general, but those of you still in school have it hard. When all around you people (adults and peers) are trying to convince you that God is a fairy-tale you must have a firm foundation to hold fast. Mere Christianity is not a quick read book, but more of a sit down and dig in deep.

C.S. Lewis is one of the best you can read when wanting to get a grasp on what is means to be a Christian. As much as I agree with this, I will say this: I read the Chronicles of Narnia at a very young age, and it was awesome. However, when I went back and reread it just a couple of years ago, I found even deeper meaning in it than before –– both because I had "grown up" and because I had matured in my faith. It is very much a word picture of one facet of who God is and how He relates to us, which I really appreciate.
I still need to read Mere Christianity...
I agree about Sam & Frodo.
Sarah wrote: "@Narnian- An example of unconditional love and loyalty. Wish we would see more of that in reality."Agreed. Finding a friend who would lay down their life for yours is rare. Especially these days.

Same here. I see more in Narnia now than I did when I was little.
And I also need to read Mere Christianity.
@Narnian: Didn't Christ say something about no greater love than one who would lay down their life for their friends?

@Mojo Yes he did.
I wish I could say if any of my friends needed it I would do anything but their are really only a few. If I knew mojo amd Gwen irl I they would probably make that list.

Yeah, let me just extend my elastic arms, and... Oh, there's a limit to elasticity. Dang.Absolutely!
Well, I've always loved Reepicheep, but... there are so many to choose from! Lucy is just... too awesome.Do you know how the mice ended up being able to talk? (Not all animals were granted that ability, and some lost it)
Peter... the wise one. They bit through the ropes when Aslan was slain. He granted them the ability to speak.

My favorite is Susan. More book Susan than movie Susan, in the movies I like the animals (like Trufflehunter, the fox.) I do have to say though, Anna had great fighting skills in the second movie.
New avatar, Narnian? It's cool.
I had such a crush on Susan when the movie came out. (I was like fifteen at the time. Give me a break, lol!)

Thank you :) Oh my gosh, you should have seen my cousins when the first movie came out. They were practically drooling over William Mosley (Peter).
lol, yeah...
I loved the first Narnia movie so much that I ripped the dvd to my computer, converted it into a different file format, and saved it to the memory card of my PSP, so I could watch it wherever I was.

I remember crying as the first one was opening in the theater. I think it was relief that Lewis's work was finally getting some well-deserved attention.I thought the centaurs were pretty awesome in the movies...
Anyone else find the Prince Caspian/Susan love interest thing in the movie a bit... annoying?

Yes! That was annoying. Even to me because I like romance. But not when it wasn't in the book. In the book Susan and Caspian didn't talk to each other, as far as I could tell. The soundtracks to the movies actually made me cry. Harry Gregson Williams did an amazing job capturing different moods in the music. Those and the LOTR soundtracks really capture what fantasy is. That's why I sometimes put those on when I'm reading another fantasy series.
I have all the books, all the movies that have come out so far, and the old movies! :))) Can't wait for the silver chair to come out!
In the movie, I liked Susan and Caspian's romance, but it was a bit distracting from the original idea.

I didn't care so much for that. Not only because it had no place in the original, but... It just kinda felt "tacked on".
