Joel (deliriumtrigger) | 312 comments This is the thread where YOU, as a small independent/unpublished writer, can take a chance to introduce yourself, pitch your book, recommend that we read it and shower you with rubles, etc. Please make sure to put a synopsis of your book as well as a link to it on Goodreads and/or info on where to acquire the book.

Jason (foreverjuly) I'll step up to the plate here, considering today is the first release day I've seen in about 18 months. :)

My name is Jason Letts and I've been writing and publishing fantasy for quite a while, though most of it was YA. Now I'm relaunching myself with The Scars of Ambition, the first book in a new trilogy about one family's struggles in the intense business world of Cumeria.

At the moment it can be found on Amazon, but links to BN and other e-retailers are coming.

Thanks for your interest!

Steve Thomas | 8 comments I'm Steve Thomas, and I've been publishing fantasy for a few years now. Lately, I've been most interested in comedic stuff, specifically my Klondaeg The Monster Hunter series. Klondaeg is a Dwarven monster hunter who carries a talking battle-axe with a split personality. Each book is composed of somewhat self-contained episodes which follow a team-up format with other heroes and adventurers.

My stuff is available at most ebook vendors, but here are a few links:

V. Lakshman (vlakshman) | 4 comments Hi folks,
New indie author here with a just published book on Amazon called, Mythborn.

I've been fascinated by religion. Why do people have faith, and what does faith mean? Now, place faith in a world where belief begets gods (and demons) and you get the idea of Mythborn. Yet, I balance this with a comprehensive science background, and feel everything (magic or science) should follow consistent rules. Imagine a world where no individual is powerful enough to create 'gods', but what about an entire society, and what rules will those beings follow? Will they appreciate the ephemeral existence they are given? How did the Greek gods feel when Rome supplanted their beliefs (if they had been real). Did Zeus go quietly into the night when Jupiter arrived? Mythborn follows the arch of these gods, but through the lens of a kid who doesn't realize he's about to become the anti-hero of a world. I wanted to write about that arch, that of the 'villain' in a world made up of shades of gray.

I'm giving away 5 free copies this weekend, so register here on Goodreads or on my website. You can also download the excerpt using the link below.

Thank you!

Matthew Ballard | 1 comments Hi everyone. I'm a new fantasy author looking to find a few readers.

I cut my teeth on the Wheel of Time, Dune, and Game of Thrones years before it was cool to openly like GOT.

I've released my first book called Shard Knight: Echoes Across Time.

Shard Knight (Echoes Across Time Book 1) by Matthew Ballard

The book follows over the shoulder of a fifteen year old prince named Ronan Latimer. The book begins with Ronan in the finals of a tournament where the winner earns a shard.

Shards encompass the nature of magic in the kingdom of Meranthia. Each shard imbues its holder with an element of magic (healing, protection, or enhancement) There are a finite number of shards in the world and each one is a treasured possession.

Click here for a full list of retail locations.

I'm proud of the work and am actively working on its sequel. Thanks!

Matthew Ballard

Gregory Close (gsclose) | 1 comments Great thread, lots to check out here!

My name is Gregory S. Close (aka /u/gsclose) and I'm a writer of sci fi and fantasy, though only the latter is published as yet. My debut is a big fat doorstopper tome called In Siege of Daylight, a multiple POV epic which lies somewhere stylistically between Tad Williams and George R. R. Martin. Talentlistically™ it is a few rungs down the ladder, I'm sure.

In Siege of Daylight (Compendium of Light, Dark & Shadow, #1) by Gregory S. Close

"A dead wizard’s menacing prophecy reveals that an all-encompassing dark magic has already been loosed upon the world, and there is only one way to stop it. Calvraign and Callagh must protect the life of the crown prince, Hiruld, at all costs. They are forced to contend with the realities of the king’s court—a constantly shifting web of intrigue, romance, and carefully executed maneuvers hidden behind the glittering façade of royal life—while simultaneously battling dark forces to keep Hiruld alive. Calvraign must find a way to ensure that all is not lost and that evil cannot triumph for all eternity. And Callagh must keep him alive long enough to do it…."

Davis Ashura (davisashura) What a wonderful thread. My only problem is that there are so many good books to read, and so little time. I can think of at least seven off just this list.

I hope mine is an 8th.

Oh yes, about me.

My name is Davis Ashura. I'm addicted to science-fiction and fantasy... What's that? This isn't a 10-step program? Oops.

Well then. Here goes...

A Warrior's Path is actually my 5th or 8th book, depending on how you count them. The story is set in a world that is very Asian Indian with a strong dash of Hellenic Greek. Kirkus was kind enough to label it as "markedly original". Here's the blurb.

Two millennia ago, a demon thundered into the skies of Arisa, casting down the First World. She was Suwraith, the Bringer of Sorrows. And on the same night as Her arrival, there rose about the world's great cities the Oases, a mysterious means by which Humanity lies protected against the might of the Sorrow Bringer. It is a temporary respite. Throughout the rest of Arisa, Suwraith's Chimeras boil across the Wildness, the wide swaths of land beyond the boundaries of the few, far-flung cities, killing any unfortunates in their path and ruling all in Her name. But always She seeks more: Humanity's utter extinction.

Into this world is born Rukh Shektan, a peerless young warrior from a Caste of warriors. He is well-versed in the keen language of swords and the sacred law of the seven Castes: for each Caste is a role and a Talent given, and none may seek that to which they were not born. It is the iron-clad decree by which all cities maintain their fragile existence and to defy this law means exile and death. And Rukh has ever been faithful to the teachings of his elders.

But all his knowledge and devotion may not save him because soon he must join the Trials, the holy burden by which by which the cities of Humanity maintain their slender connection with one another, and the only means by which a warrior can prove his worth. There in the Wildness, Rukh will struggle to survive as he engages in the never-ending war with the Chimeras, but he will also discover a challenge to all he has held to be true and risk losing all he holds dear. And it will come in the guise of one of Humanity's greatest enemies - perhaps its greatest allies.

Worse, he will learn of Suwraith's plans. The Sorrow Bringer has dread intentions for his home.

The city of Ashoka is to be razed and her people slaughtered.

The book has sold far better than I could ever hope to dream, but more importantly, I'm overjoyed by the reviews I've received both here and on Amazon.

I'm also kinda excited to announce my first discount sale on the book.

From March 2 and extending until sometime on March 7th, I'm lowering the price on A Warrior's Path to just $2.99.

Here are the links to buy it.

E.D.E. Bell (edebell) | 2 comments Hi! I'm E.D.E. Bell and I'm in love with epic fantasy and want to share that passion with the world.

This whole endeavor has been challenging, as I'm an engineer with three kids. On top of that, I don't have formal creative writing training. But I love doing it, and love taking on the challenge of improving my skills and my connection with the reader. So I write in the evenings, the weekends, or whenever I can catch a moment.

I like to write about classic fantasy themes (elves, dragons, wizards) and also like to mix in modern social themes. I love allowing the reader to interpret these themes, and draw their own conclusion. Themes that are important to me are gender identity, the relationships between humans and other animals, and the meaning of family. But the main story will always center on epic fantasy.

I started my own self-publishing company, Atthis Arts, LLC. And quality is important to us, so we've worked with editors and illustrators to produce what we think is a great product. Right now, we are just publishing my work, but we'd love to publish other independent authors as well.

As for Reddit, I'll be the Fantasy Writer of the Day on June 18th. I look forward to an "Ask Me Anything" setting where we can chat about my books, my writing, indie publishing, or whatever else is on your mind.

I would love for you to follow me:

My novel, Spireseeker, is available in a lovely signed hardcover edition on:
http://spireseeker.com/purchase-book/

It's also available in paperback and e-book from the major retailers including on Amazon:
http://amzn.com/0989699218

A prequel novella, The Taking of Stonecrop, is available in these locations as well. (And is free on Smashwords this weekend with code ZY62X).

And while I am immensely proud of Spireseeker (it has a 4.6 star average on Amazon and received a Readers' Favorite five star rating) I am working on a dragons and wizards trilogy right now called the Shkode trilogy, and I have improved so much and am so excited to share the result with you.

The Readers' Favorite review is posted here, but be warned there are a few spoilers:

Thanks for your time, and I'd love to share my writing with you!

Andrew Ashling (andrewashling) | 2 comments The Invisible Chains - Part 1 Bonds of Hate (Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, #1) by Andrew Ashling The Invisible Chains - Part 2 Bonds of Fear (Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, #2) by Andrew Ashling The Invisible Chains - Part 3 Bonds of Blood (Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, #3) by Andrew Ashling The Invisible Hands - Part 1 Gambit (Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse, #4) by Andrew Ashling

Hi all,

This is what the reviewer (with over 300 reviews under his belt) said about my epic fantasy series Dark Tales of Randamor the Recluse:

To call this superb fantasy / alt. history novel only an "erotic fiction" would certainly mean to mischaracterize it. (...) The story starts simple: a ruthless king in a medieval-like fantasy settings has way too many sons (four) and decides to test his two youngest sons (16 and 17 years old) by sending them with a small and inadequate army to guard far northern and dangerous borders. He fully expects them to engage in a cut-throat competition for the power and influence. The elder son is strong and seems to be an adequate warrior, while the younger is bookish, weak, and sick of some unknown disease ("spells of dizziness"). Add to this a lot of intrigue, unexpected plot twists and three-dimensional side characters, a secret rebel society, a domineering yet wise and equally ruthless mother (queen), and of course - SPOILER - a complex love-hate relationship between two main characters, two half-brothers. Also, the product description's words - "where nothing is what it seems" - are spot-on; the main character's true motivations are revealed very slowly, and turned out to be quite different from what I thought in the first half of the novel. (...) The focus is on the characters and the intricate yet not-overly-complex plot. This is first and foremost a fantasy / alt. history novel with some of the main characters being gay, rather than an erotica novel.

So, to summarize:

* This is an alternative history. The setting is Medieval, but the story does not take place in 'our' Middle Ages.
* There are brutal and even cruel scenes, as the Middle Ages were rather hard.
* There is political intrigue, warfare, and mystery, but also romance — albeit of the gay kind, most of the time. On the other hand, this is not one of those books where literally everybody is gay.

In case you are at all interested:

* On the book's page, here on Goodreads, you can read some more reviews: The Invisible Chains - Part 1: Bonds of Hate

The first book in the series is temporary available at 99¢ on Amazon, ARe, iTunes, Nook & Kobo.

You can find more information on my website, Ximerion.

If you have any questions, or remarks, please feel free to put them here. I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Sharon Cho (wovenmyths) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Sharon Cho and my debut fantasy/action-adventure novel, A Slice of Quietude came out this past May. I hope some of you will take a chance on reading it since I'll be doing a Fantasy Writer of the Day AMA on 9/9/15. Would love to talk with some of you then.

Here's the blurb:
The Quietude, a psychic realm accessible by only a select few, is Kat’s secret for improving her deadly focus. It’s how she became a high level Midnight Slicer, an elite assassin. But when she meets Tristien Waef inside the Quietude, Kat knows she’s outmatched. Tristien, scarred from head to toe both physically and emotionally, displays unheard-of abilities inside the Quietude! In a rare move, Kat throws caution to the wind, and joins Tristien and her two friends: the battle-hardened Cela and the almost-famous bard Kinjara, in their travels. But will the Midnight Slicers allow Kat to shift allegiances? And can a budding relationship with Kat get Tristien to move beyond her traumatic past?

"Hey! This book ain't about just that! That part's only got you two." interrupts Cela. "It's about fightin’, drinkin' and carousin'. You know, slicin'!” With one arm, the tall warrior slashes her two-handed sword through the air.

Tristien sniffs, "Fighting and drinking isn't going to sell the book. The more unique aspects will."

"Presentation factors as well," says Kinjara, bowing. “The honor should thus drape across the bard’s shoulders." Clearing her throat, she stands up, “Love and redemption, thrills with chills, devious deities along with myths of yore and lore, build foundations upon which 'A Slice of Quietude' rises..."

Kat never looks up from sharpening her daggers.

Thanks!

Andrew | 2 comments Hiya!

I'm Andrew Rowe, a novice fantasy author and slightly less of a novice as a game systems designer. =D

As a systems designer, I tend to go into a lot of detail about how everything works, especially magic systems. If you're into that sort of thing, you'll probably like my book. If not, you'll probably want to skip it.

My first novel is Forging Divinity.

Forging Divinity

You can find it on Amazon here if you're interested in picking up a copy.

Here's a quick blurb:
Some say that in the city of Orlyn, godhood is on sale to the highest bidder. Thousands flock to the city each year, hoping for a chance at immortality.

Lydia Hastings is a knowledge sorcerer, capable of extracting information from anything she touches. When she travels to Orlyn to validate the claims of the local faith, she discovers a conspiracy that could lead to a war between the world's three greatest powers. At the focal point is a prisoner who bears a striking resemblance to the long-missing leader of the pantheon she worships.

Rescuing the prisoner would require risking her carefully cultivated cover - but his execution could mean the end of everything Lydia holds dear.

I read a mix of fantasy, scifi, and lit/classics growing up, and that's where I'd like to end up as a writer. I'm hoping my books end up at that intersection of genre/"literary" (if those designations matter, more descriptive than anything). That said, I love a kickass fight scene, pulpy elements, and mysterious magic.
