Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) Tell us about yourself, what do you do for a living? Are you a student, a at home mom (from experience is the hardest of all jobs). Do you have a job in which someone pays you or are you retired?

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I am a retired teacher. I tell people they wanted to get rid of me so bad they are willing to pay me to stay at home.

Marla I work in a call center for Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. I hope to retire in the next 5 years.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I retired early. My husband has Alzheimer's and congestive heart failure. It became impossible to work. Maybe I will go back after he dies. He is 17 years older than I am.

Marla Oh Dee how hard this must be for you. My husband and I have a philosophy of living each day the way we want to as we may not be here tomorrow. Both of our fathers died at young ages. I was only 18 when my dad died and he was only 52. We never have enough money to retire but we do enjoy the life we have.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) I'm sorry for the loss of your dad(s). I know I lost my dad 9 years ago, but he was 85. I was also a full-fledged adult, living in another city, and with a life of my own. I can't even imaging what it was like to lose him when you were that young. Was it an expected death?

I believe out of every bad some good happens and out of every good some bad happens. The good that came out of those deaths is that you do love for today. I so agree with you on that you do need to live for today. That is what I learned when Ken and I started our relationship. I decided I would worry about any loss when it happened, and until then I would love with every fiber of my being. I have never been sorry. I ended up having to put him in an assisted living home a few years ago. I can't work because I get states assistance for his care. The cost is so high that there is no way I could make enough money working to pay for his care.

Marla Yes my dads death was expected. He had cancer if the bone and back in th seventies they were not doing bone marrow transplants. He was on chemo but even that was still in its infancy. He had a wonderful doctor and they tried new chemo on him. His doctor told him at the time " I don't know what this will do to you" and my dads comment was does it really matter I am dying anyways. This chemo kept him alive two extra years so as far as we were concerned it worked wonders.

My mom remarried 2 years later and married a wonderful man who had three young daughter (his wife had died). He and my mom had 27 good years of marriage until she died. He unfortunately died 4 years after her but I have an additional 3 sisters who I love dearly.

I hate to say this but I am glad I live in Canada and not the USA for things such as health care. Your health care is really high but I am glad you get some assistance.

Take care.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) You are lucky. Obama wanted to adopt the kind of health care you have, but the best he was able to accomplish was a very watered down version. Oh well, eventually we will have it. I hope.

That would be nice to work from home. Do you think you will like it.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) That is so cool. With gas prices as high as they are it is like getting a raise to boot.
