James Everington | 44 comments So, on Twitter I follow Faber Finds, who put out the recent paperbacks of Cold Hand In Mine etc.

In a little exchange with them today, they strongly hinted that for Aickman's centenary in 2014 there would be more coming from them. I know lots of people, including me, have some or all of the lovely Tartarus editions, but still it would be quite nice if seem cheaper, more widely known editions came out.

Hopefully if it happens they'll be less typo-ridden than the last Faber one!

James Everington | 44 comments Exactly. I'm off on hols to France tomorrow and have been desperately trying to finish Night Voices tonight so that I don't have to sling a lovely Tartarus book in the boot of the car!

James Everington | 44 comments And interestingly, Amazon UK now have a Faber edition of 'Dark Entries' listed for preorder in 2014...

Interesting...I wonder what else they will get around to publishing...

message 5: by James (new)

James Everington | 44 comments Agreed!

Teddy G (teddy-g) Does anyone know why FF's Cold Hand in Mine that will be published in July is about 160 pages longer than the previous FF edition?

message 7: by Teddy (new)

Teddy G (teddy-g) Pre-ordered FF's Dark Entries before seeing the horrible cover they put on it. It looks bad, like a Young Adult Poe tribute. I prefered the white and orange ones.

That's a lot of extra pages...

Where can we see the 2014 Dark Entries cover? Don't see it on amazon.co.uk or the Faber site. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place?

message 11: by James (new)

James Everington | 44 comments Hmmmm you're right; not very Aickman-y!

message 12: by Teddy (new)

Teddy G (teddy-g) right? tombstones, ravens, full moon & spooky blood flowers - the opposite of what Aickman was going for.

I quite like it...

Jim | 5 comments Thanks, Teddy. I think they could have done a better job with this, but I guess it could be worse. :/

Something to look at while waiting for the Great Pumpkin to arrive.

Here's an article about Faber's plans on the Guardian:

http://www.theguardian.com/books/2014...

Looks like they will be putting out proper paperback editions (not just the "print-on-demand" editions that they have produced up until now) so hopefully the textual problems they've had will be resolved?

message 16: by James (new)

James Everington | 44 comments I'm excited by The Late Breakfasters, I've never read that.

message 17: by Teddy (new)

Teddy G (teddy-g) great news! I've been wanting to read his novels for a long time.

Axolotl | 8 comments Isn't The Model included in Night Voices?

message 19: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 20 comments nope. just read that collection.

message 20: by Fraser (new)

Fraser Burnett | 7 comments It is in the Tartaus Press edition.

message 21: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 20 comments ah. I have the Gollancz edition.

message 22: by Axolotl (last edited Apr 01, 2014 07:14PM) (new)

Axolotl | 8 comments Sorry that is what I meant--you had me worried there, Mark--you see, I just ordered NV from Tartarus a few days ago!...not that I don't already have the book club edition.

message 23: by James (new)

James Everington | 44 comments Yes, think for the Tartarus Night Voices they removed 'The Trains' but added 'The Model' plus the non-fiction stuff.

Have to say, 'The Model' is interesting enough for fans, but not one I'll be rereading as much as his short-stories.

message 24: by Axolotl (last edited Apr 01, 2014 02:01PM) (new)

Axolotl | 8 comments ps. I also ordered the collection of Mark Valentine's Ralph Tyler stories while I was at it. As my Tartarus Aickman's are now complete and I admire the work of Mark Valentine so much, I would have been beside myself had I missed out on either of these.
Anyone need 1st/1st in F/F condition of Tartarus/Durtro's The Collected Strange Stories of Robert Aickman? I have a set for sale.

message 25: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 20 comments now I wonder why they removed The Trains. I suppose just for room. but that's a pretty interesting story.

message 26: by Axolotl (last edited Apr 01, 2014 02:07PM) (new)

Axolotl | 8 comments Because it is in We are For the Dark already, I suppose.

message 27: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 20 comments ah! my second ah of the day regarding Aickman.

You can see all the faber Aickman editions on their site here: http://www.faber.co.uk/catalog/author...

It's good to see very affordable editions of his books available.
