Breely is a recent college graduate who takes a job as a foster care worker. She works toward reuniting children and families. One teen has no family to return to. As a child, Shay was adopted by an aging couple. When tragedy occurs the couple's biological family tossed her into foster care. Through the years, Shay has seen several foster care workers come and go into her life. Breely first meets Shay as she has just disrupted another group home placement. This was one of many disruptions to come. During the time spent traveling to different placements and packing and unpacking Shay's belongings a friendship is formed. This friendship helps Breely to examine her own family relationships. The experience of a teen in foster care is explored. Teens are not offered a family to live with as those placements are given to younger children. Teens in foster care are often placed in group homes. This is a look into what that world is like and how teens in foster care are on the mercy of the world.
