Jenn (ace-geek) In that scenario I think torturing the bomb planter would be justifiable.
It's not a matter of one innocent person against thousands of other innocents, it's the well being of someone willing to plant a bomb that could kill thousands against the well being of those thousands.

You're asking questions that have no definite answers. I would not want to be the one deciding a fate of a person. Because everyone's "wrong" and "right" are different. Personally, I believe that there is no such thig as wrong or right. Because the world is not so black and white. There are so many multiples and variables. Should anyone have the choice in whether someone should be tortured (in my opinion no)? If I were in the position to decide, I would not be mentally able to rationalize my actions if I sent someone to be tortured.

Jenn (ace-geek) This is just one of many questions that will never have an answer that everyone agrees to. A good debate topic, though.

Never? Why? I see why, but I'd like to know your reasoning."

I believe that if you have the ability to torture someone it can dehumanize you. If a person can torture another, no matter the reasoning, they are just lowering themselves to an evil place.

Jenn (ace-geek) I think the vast majority of people couldn't torture another person, but then I believe there are those that could. The type that could may already be a little dehumanized. One trait in such a person would be a complete lack of empathy.

Jenn (ace-geek) This makes me think of 24(don't know how many of you have seen it). The needs of many outweigh the needs of few, as they say.
