MidnightSoul smelled the sharp winter air, shivering. She felt terrible, being recently in an argument with family. MidnightSoul looked around with doubt. Snow, white, ice, snowflakes, icicles . . pure white and frozen blue was seen everywhere.
Finally stopping for breath (the cold air tickled her lungs and airway), MidnightSoul saw tracks of a heavily-claws creature. They seemed recent, for they felt warm.
Following the tracks in the snow with curiosity, MidnightSoul found herself lost after an hour.
Disappointed with herself, she finally went back.
Starfire watched in the shadows as MidnightSoul came back into the cave. she desperately wanted to know what the alpha had been doing, and why she came back looking so dissapointed but knew better then to question her.after a few minuets Starfire crept out of the cave herself onto the snow. it was easy to find the alphas foot prints. nose first, she followed them.
after a few moments she came across the tracks of a heavily clawed creature.
she could smell MidnightSouls smell all around.
"so this is what the alpha was doing" she thought to herself. and she had obviously not found anything.
Starfire decided to see to where the tracks led to.
she at least would not give up until she found the creature. she would prove that she could do things better then the alpha.
Starfire followed the tracks most the afternoon. it was a good thing it hadn't started to snow. otherwise she'd be in trouble.
it was almost sunset by the time Starfire reached an opening to a cave. the tracks led straight inside.
exitement grew inside her.
this was it! it had to be!!!
slowly, she walked inside.
it was too dark for even her wolf- eyes to see. but she didn't need to rely on her eyes. she had other senses. her ears pricked up, trying to hear if anything was in the cave.
silence.
maybe the creature wasnt in the cave after all. but starfire handnt seen any tracks leading out of the cave. only in.
suddenly, she heard a rustle. startled, she turned to the source of the noise.
she was sidways to it when it pounced. Starfire felt a claw tear her side.
she tried to fight back, but was loosing blood quickly.
the creature tore at her legs, face- anywhere it could reach.
she could feel herself going unconscious.
starfire managed to relese one last desperate howl before she blacked out.
Moondust heard Starfires howl. She started at a run trying to follow the sound. She stopped and sniffed. She smelt Midnighsoul's and Starfire's scent.
She followed and found herself at a cave entrance. Iwish I could blend into the snow, She thought.
She entered the as quietly as she could. She sniffed, since she couldn't see very well. Where are they?
Her ears pricked up and twitched. She heard a growl. What the...? She was feeling panic. The cave was small. She had a flashback:
"Mom! I can hunt almost as good as you!" Her mother smiled as she tried to pounce on a mouse. It was small but she was a pup then, so she only needed a couple to fill her.
Her father laughed. "Not quite!" She glared. Moondust caught three mice that day.
She was eating when she heard the gravel crunch beneath the humans contraption. Her an her family shrank back into the shrubbery, but before she was fully in the bushes, the human caught her.
Her father lunged at him. He wouldn't let go. He shook off her dad and threw her in a small plastic cage.
They took her to another place. She was far from home. She howled for her family but they never came. That was when she met the old leader of FireClan.
Also, she became very claustrophobic.
Moondust was back in the present. She shook off her nausea, determined to save Starfire. She kept going.
Minutes later, Moondust noticed that the space was bigger and brighter. She sniffed and smelt Starfire.
Moondust ran to her. "Sorry if I hurt you." She murmered softly. She yanked on her tail.
Half way through she tasted her blood. She spit out Starfire's tail and pushed her.
Once outside she managed to get her on her back and she carried her to their own cave.
Moondust nudged Starfire. "Wake up."

"I don't know. I was worried when you didn't come back so I went to look for you. I found you in a small cave then brought you back here." Moondust replied softly.
MidnightSoul heard the screams, but thought better of herself. She made her way to the clan camp -- nobody.Hmmm. That was odd.
"Guys? Could you please tell me what's going on?"
Silence.
"Guys?"
Silence.
"C'mon. Work with me."
Silence.
MidnightSoul sighed in exasperation. She smelled for them, but the smell seemed to seep into the snow.
Siareen wrote: ""i wouldnt be asking if i knew, would i?" starfire snapped"
"I wasn't there so why are you asking me? You so ungrateful! Why can't you say thanks and tell me what you remember from the cave?" She scowled.
"I wasn't there so why are you asking me? You so ungrateful! Why can't you say thanks and tell me what you remember from the cave?" She scowled.
starfire looked abashed."the thing is, i dont remember anything past walking into the cave."
she admitted.
"Well, if you remember anything then you have tell Misnight soul or me. Are you hurt anywhere besides your tail?"
"my side is hurting a bit but otherwise im fine"she responded, stating the truth.
starfire stood up but collapsed from weakness of loosing so much blood.
"I think you should stay here until you get your strength back. I'll go out and hunt for us."
"but what if the thing that attacked me returns?"starfire regretted the words the second they came out of her mouth.
she was NOT cowered, and she hated sounding like on.
"im sure it will be ok though" she added quickly
Moondust thought about her first camment. "Do remember what the thing looked like?"
"I thought griffens were stories to scare pups?"
"where have you been during your lifetime? only wolves that stay in their mothers shelter think that"starfire scoffed
"I've heard of griffens, but I don't believe in them. Deal with it."
"I'll roll my eyes if I want." Moondust smiled and helped Starfire stand.
Moonstone tried to take all of Starfires weight, but she was smaller then Starfire. It was pretty difficult.
"i can walk my myself, thanks!" starfire snapped. she hated admitting she needed help.
she started walking towards the cave, trying not to show the pain it was costing her.
at last they arrived
Moonstone only glared. "I was only trying to help."
starfire sighed. "i know. im sorry. i guess my pride got the better of me." 'again' she added to herself
"It's fine. I know how you feel but sometimes you just have to accept the fact that you need help sometimes."
Moonstone sighed. "Ok. The silent treatment is really old and only pups do that."
starfire rolled her eyes"i wasnt giving you the 'silent treatment'. i just didnt have anything to say. now if you dont mind, im going to see our healer."
starfire walked of in search of the clan healer.
Moonstone rolled her eyes back at Starfire. "Whatever you say." She walked over to where she usually slept and layed down.
Moonstone looked around and saw only white. The snow. She started to panic. She howled for help.
"I'm close!" She howled again. "Help!"
"moonstone!!!!!!! what happened?!" starfaire howled, as she sniffend around franticly for a sign of moonstone
"I can't see anything! I only see snow! Everywhere!" Moonstone yelled.
"Ok...!" She yelled uncertainly. She stummbled through the snow and followed Sarfires voice
"I don't know. I just opened my eyes and saw this! Snow. It's everywhere."
"i don't know. i can't smell anything but the snow and you so tracking them is close to impossible."
