I've just finished reading this book for the #30DayRead challenge and Stitch was honestly the best book I've read all year - that's saying something too as I've also read and loved City of Bones, Cinder and so many more great books this year. This book encompasses all the fantastic elements within similar series such as The Hunger Games and The Divergent Trilogy as well as elements from the TV series, Dollhouse.
This book deserves more attention that it currently gets - A must for every dystopian fan!
I've already got my hands on Shudder (book 2) and cannot wait to start reading it.
I hate to sound like a jerk, but I hated it. Let me explain before you guys kill me. It took more than half way through the book to reveal the real plot, but most of it was unnecessary because the first half of the book could have been trimmed to later focus on the big reveal and the problems in the later part of the book. I will continue to read this series not because I found it entertaining, but I cannot for the life of me abandoned a series. I guess if you like city of bones and beautiful creatures you may like this book, but I hated those books as well sorry you guys, but I wish I had the same experience as you guys apparently did but unfortunately I did not.
I agree with you Philli, I did not love this either. I will probably also read the next book, but mostly because the story became more interesting toward the end (and I hate to leave something unfinished!). I found the repetitive parts unbearable, especially when they went nowhere ('Alessa took the tape, flyers, and pens from the backpack, arranged them neatly and put the backpack by her feet. After thinking intently while hanging the flyer, she replaced everything and left.' Um, ok, and, so what?? Why did you just spend three paragraphs telling us in excruciating detail about the mundane crap and then skim over the interesting parts?). So...interesting premise and intriguing characters but weak execution is my vote here.

I never though to compare this to Dollhouse, but you are so right...makes me appreciate the book even more.

Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa's body screams at her to run... but yet she's powerless to move.
Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees - and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell - Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.
Because what Alessa hasn't figured out yet is that she's not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university's idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface...
The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.
