Petra, the transgendered beauty queen, actually relinquishes maleness and SEEKS OUT being female. Why? And what is her significance to the beauty queens’ story?

This was surprisingly one of my most favorite characters in the book. To go from being a male music icon to a female beauty was kinda cool to me. Her/his worry about taking her/his medicine every day to keep the hormornes up and explaining what were the drivers that promoted his decision to do this. Very Interesting.

Molly Olson | 1 comments I thought the author portrayed Petra pretty darn well--it can't be easy to capture not only the feelings of a transgendered person, but ALSO the feelings of a teenager, rolled into one big, messy bundle. But what I liked was that Petra was just very accepting of herself, and was rather confident in who she was, or would/could be.
