Okay, gang, here it is. Attempt at a book club.

This was the chapter that hooked me on the series, because it starts out so damn straight-laced Horation Hornblower, and then POW. Dragon. And everybody is so UNCOMFORTABLE about it, and then along comes Temeraire (precious baby), and he's so damned POLITE about the whole thing! Ugh. I love him so much.

The pieces that really got me hooked are a bit later on in part one. But that doesn't mean that I couldn't go on for hours about chapter one either. I mean, it's not just the big AMAZING things like Temeraire himself, adorable, polite, little thing that he is. It's the little things.
And is this going to be a somewhat spoiler free thread, or can ramble on and on about specific and minute details within the chapter we are discussing?

Good question. I think the chapter threads should be spoiler free, but you can start another thread about what goes on later in the book.
