All formats are accepted (print, ebooks, audiobooks). Rereads are fine as long as you actually reread the entire book and not just skim it.

Feel free to change your list at any time as needed.

Please note that the Optional Book categories are just that. Optional. You may choose to do none of them or all of them depending on how big of a challenge you want.

Basic Categories
1. Any Urban Fantasy Title:
2. An Urban Fantasy Title with a female protagonist:
3. An Urban Fantasy Title with a male protagonist:
4. Any book released in 2013:

Optional Categories: ~ any genre
5. Cover Hunt: In honor of Independence Day in the United States, read a book with a predominantly red, white, or blue cover, or any combination of the three colors. Alternatively, in honor of all those kids going back to school in August and September, read a book with a child or teenager on the cover, or any school related item (for example: bus, school building, pencils, chalkboard, an apple you might give the teacher. Feel free to be creative).
6. July 1 is International Joke Day. Read any book the amuses you or makes you laugh out loud.
7. August 26 is Women’s Equality Day. Read a book by a female author.
8. September 6 is Fight Procrastination Day. Here’s another chance to finally get to that book you keep putting off!!
9. Ray Bradbuy was born on August 22, 1920. Read one of Ray Bradbury’s works or read a book by any author with the first initial of R OR the last initial of B.

You may join the challenge up to the final day of June. If you get a late start it’s fine to back date with any books you started on July 1 or later.

When you've completed a book for the challenge, please come back to this thread and post a NEW comment with something like this:

Christine 1/8 completed
along with your updated list.

Questions? Anything I’ve forgotten? Just ask.

Eithne I'm in ... bummed I didn't finish the last challenge 5/9 so I'm really fired up to give this a go.

Can't tell you how good these challenges have been in helping me clean up my library, I have so many new books to read it's great to have that push to dust off and read the old ones. I'm finally able to pass on to friends the ones I don't like.

Megan | 15 comments Well, I had a slow start in July, only getting one of my challenge books read, but August was much more productive, getting another five read so I now stand at 6 of 9 read (my original post has been updated).

These challenges are also helpful for clearing up my TBR pile -- turns out one of the books I finished just two days shy of my fifth-year anniversary of purchasing it. (Because apparently in addition to buying too many books, I'm also not good at throwing out the receipts...)
