and we're off!

prologue -
we're discovering why the Abominations imprisoned the serpent. they like her toxic water to get their prophecies.
i'm quite sad for the serpent with her strangely deformed body and muscles that were never able to really develop. i hope she's physically able to make the journey.

ch1 -
looks like Hobb is bringing in the tension from the start. Malta missing the exit to the city and flowing past. Reyn and Selden still stuck in the chamber.

ch2 - Serilla? oh boy, it seems like like Robin Hobb is pushing her a few spots higher in my characters-to-despise list. I didn't really pick her as a power hungry (dare i say the word?) bitch.

Loved Ronica in that exchange though! You chan see where Althea got that feistiness from

ch3 - things are not looking good for Wintrow. the serpent slime doesn't do him much good, but at least he's connecting to Vivacia's inner dragon.

robin hobb can be so utterly mean to her characters. it's unbelievable.

ch4 - Reyn to Tintaglia "Could you land near her on the river"
Tintaglia: I'm not a duck!"

mooohahaha, i loved that! :)

ch5 - there is something to this plan for the Paragon crew to turn pirate themselves. how else would they find Kennit? and it's not half bad, if Kennit hears about another liveship with pirates he might come looking for them himself

David Sven (gorro) | 567 comments Ok! I'm away and swimming as fast as I can to catch up!

Prologue - so it looks like that there are more than one "She who remembers"

Only a relative few were imprinted with the full record of their species, but only a few were needed.

And Vivacia smells like she may have been One who remembers

How could a ship give off the scent of a serpent? Moreover, it smelled like no ordinary serpent. It smelled like One Who Remembers.

I remember Maulkin's tangle getting confused because they thought Vivacia was "She who Remembers."

Ronica was awesome. And Hobb does a good job of projecting the sense of outtrage that Serilla had the audacity to take over Davad's property.

David Sven (gorro) | 567 comments Paragon sounds a lot saner since he recovered his dragon memories. Or did he recover his dragon memories totally or is he just aware he has other memories not associated with his owners?

i took it as the latter. but i might be wrong. paragon is a tough cookie to crack.

(plus, he's mixed plank, it's always going to be complicated for him)

Sumant I am starting this book after four to five months of hiatus, but I just love the fact how comfortable it is slip back into the world which Hobb has created. It's like I just never left it.

Back to the story. The prologue was interesting because the serpent finally escapes thanks to wintrow. but I am really confused as to who is she who remembers. Is it the serpent ? or is it Vivacia ?

Malta has undergone a huge transformation for me in this series, because when we first met her she was a spoilt brat, but now she is rescuing the obnoxious satrap and her companion.

Serilla too has become power hungry she definitely has some history which we haven't read, because when we met her first time she did not seem like this at all.

Wintrow has connection with the dragon which is present in Vivacia interesting.

There is was going on in bingtown between the new traders and the old ones. I think Ronica is going to play an important part there.

Althea is on the ship heading to get Vivacia back.

All our major characters are present where some drastic changes are taking place, let's see what happens.
